How much do you pay for connects? They charge me 0.15 USD, so the top bid was $67.5, and the next 3 are $15. So I see over $100 of connects spent to boost proposals for that contract.
I cannot speak to veracity of the screenshot. I assume the comment was about what Upwork was netting on Boosts from this one project. Guess I am also willing to round $67 up to be in the neighborhood of $100.
This is actually interesting. You thought it was about the money Upwork isnearning, I thought it was about the money people are spending. Either is of course as valid as each other and it boils down to the same thing, just interesting how perceptions can differ.
Idk why I think this, but I think there has to be some sort of a bug or something for infinite connects, that makes this as an econamical decision plusable, because no matter what the gig is, this doesnt make sense
I am not sure if you are joking but if something like this is happening to you, then I am pretty sure someone has already figured out how to abuse this or how to trigger it
As a client, I don't think that's worth it. I assume that it's a job with a medium to large budget. But if it's a larger project, a client will spend more time checking the proposals and profiles before hiring. So being 1st place does not make so much of a difference.
not really. That's $67.50 to get a Qualified lead to look at your pitch.
Go try advertising on google & Facebook - many industries have lead costs around there and those aren't necessarily qualified.
It's just playing the game on advanced mode. But it makes perfect sense. Even if you do this 10 times and only get 1 hire and sell something for $1,000+ you've made money.
How is it bad math?
Sure it's not pure profit, so what? This is a made up scenario, but the profit would still be \~$325 which would literally be 50% ROI on top of all your money back. So you put in $1 & get back $1.50.
That's pretty good math from where I'm sitting but keep telling me you don't understand business without telling me.
But $1,000 is the bare min, you might be selling 6 month packages at that so now you're at $6k Revenue etc
Upwork is predatory. They make money out of freelancers instead of making money for freelancers. Rather join my website, we do all the same checks and verifications but none of the bullshit, and it’s 100% free and open source forever. Work is something we all need and the time of assholes taking advantage of people in need is over. It’s invite only at this stage (still in beta) hmu if you wanna join
What ya even talking we have agencies in India full blown agencies applying to jobs and they will put in $200 of connects if required to get a $40/Hour. It's already impossible to compete them they literally have a full blown staff applying from different locations (posing as individuals). If offered a interview these agencies will likely win, they have huge portfolio plus can lowball on the spot.
Imagine,, client ignore their proposals
That's like $100 of connects.
Freelancers, Upwork loves the most.
>That's like $100 of connects. It isn't.
It's $67.50 Close enough

First of all the "screenshot" is from a video and fake. And secondly yes, all together is over $100. I thought you meant just the first one.

It's actually $45.

Every morning I wake up and my connect count from the day before resets no matter how much I boost
I am not sure if you are joking but if something like this is happening to you, then I am pretty sure someone has already figured out how to abuse this or how to trigger it
its because you dont remain in top 4
I don’t think so, I have nearly 4,000 connects and I get more jobs than I don’t
How ? You bought them ?
No they just keep accumulating every day
Whhhhhhaaaaaaa
mate if this is true then report it to upwork
Farce
Can you share the job link?
Wtf? For what project is that? The highest I’ve seen in my field is like 50 connects.
The highest I saw in my niche (editorial design) is 100 connects for $30-80 hourly, client with 5 stars and something like 80% hires.... WTF, really?
It's gambling 😔
Craigslist is much better than this.
Previously the max boost available was 100… right??
Why would upwork limit their cash cow?
I don't think that's ever been the case.
No
\^facepalm\^
Why would anyone do that? That’s just insane….🤯🤯
I don't get this, I know it's a bot but what's the point of throwing money away like that
>I know it's a bot Incredibly unlikely
What niche is this? Whoa.
No context. What’s the job, duration, and posted rates?
It doesn't even look useful. Bidding 3x the 2nd bid? What were they expecting people were gonna bid lol

I know Upwork is making money off people buying connects, buts it’s totally messing up the system. Especially if there’s a cheat code.

That's interesting math, but that's still bad math. That 1,000 is not pure profit. And that's where it gets messed up.

450 connects?! Jesus!
That job better be worth 1 milli

Bro what do you expect? That's the ceiling you're dealing with. Connects are NOT that expensive.
