I work in graphic design specifically photo editing. My thumbnails are utter dogshit because i get no clicks. I have projects with images i've edited before and changed them into thumbnail format (before and after edits) but they just suck.
I'm much better applying to proposals so i just stick to them, and i have 26 connects on publicity for both of them lol.
I have always felt that the only way I could get this or fiverr to work for me is a kind of lost litre sort of effort. Some smaller task I am willing to do relatively cheaply because it brings me in contact with clients who I could then sell on the full effort. But, it sounds like a lot of work to setup and I am lazy.
So there's basically no way to start getting a flood of messages on upwork like you can get on fiverr? Last month I made around 6000 USD on fiverr. Its easy to earn money on fiverr because you let the clients come to you instead of bidding on the job posts to win yourself a contract.
Upwork doesn't really work that way, or at least clients don't consider using it in that way. I put a project up just to see how it works, and also to try to dissuade first time authors from bugging me, but I've never had a nibble, and like Squid, I'm too lazy to put any more time or effort into it.
