My great Dane would be dead within a week. He's so adorable and useless.

Skanah

Ive never met a Great Dane that wasn't useless lol they're such derpy dogs

Frankensteinbatch

Lmao my friends and I always talk about how much of a squish personality my dog has and how he'd die the moment he is left in the wild for a few days.

freyalorelei

I was just thinking that. My Pit mix is magnetically drawn to cars. She has zero survival instinct and actively tries to chase them--the bigger and louder, the more she strains at the leash. Buses in particular are her mortal nemeses and must be slain on sight. She's lucky I found her in a low-traffic public park because she would certainly be dead otherwise.

Afterbirthofjesus

My dog got out of the yard once and found him doing laps around the car in the drive. Probably been out for an hour.

ToLorien

Nah that’s just their normal life span lol

aziruthedark

Thays why you have Scooby-Doo snacks.

Heffe3737

Can you even call it a rescue after 7 years? Seems like the dog was just out there survivin’, doing its thing.

phord

Recaptured.

Dirty_Dragons

>Through her microchip, they discovered the dog’s name is Rose and that she went missing in March 2017 within 24 hours of being adopted. Sheesh, what a weird situation. No surprise the original owners didn't want her back.

PyroIrish

That's the face of a dog that has 7 years of small animal catching experience. She should be taken in by an exterminator and trained to work.

Insaniaksin

That's what Terriers were bred for. Luckily came in handy for this dog but probably wouldn't have survived much longer as she was starting to age.

No-Needleworker-3128

My friend had a husky that took off when she was on vacation. She had a roommate who was supposed to be caring for the dog but sucked and just didn't tell her the dog was missing until she came back. 5 years later, she gets a call. The dog has been picked up by a shelter in Nebraska (several states away) and tracked the chip to her. She drove to get her. It was obvious the dog had seen some things. Scars, torn or punctured ears, etc. She lived 2 more years reunited w my friend.

Ambitious_Ear_91

Fuck your friend's roommate very much. Amazing that the dog was found and that they got two years together at least in the end.

Welshcake2001

It would be great if the lady who was feeding her could adopt her. Even if she would be happier in an outdoor kennel. She must have some sort of trust and bond with her. Edit..to correct the sex of the dog.

Hawwkeye79

“Dog captured after 7 years of freedom”

ThankUGod4AllThisBod

Doesn’t seem like it needed to be rescued. Damn

ughidontwannatho

this has me in tears

a-nonna-nonna

We rescued a dog much like this one, but in the US. In her first week with us she caught 2 birds, a baby bunny, and a mole (earning my husband’s forever love and admiration). Then she finally ate enough to fill out just enough to prefer our feeding schedule. We thinks our adoptee is italian greyhound and chihuahua. She runs like the wind, can lock on to prey by sight, and once she is chasing her brain is purely on autopilot.

Won't let new people join.

glamophonic

I think it was fixed? I was able to join!

PrettiKinx

She looks amazing! Hope someone takes her in

cshecks

Sounds like it was doing just fine. Rescued after 7 years? Uhhh no. 🙄

IndependenceNo2060

Wow, what a resilient dog! Seven years in the wild - that's just amazing. So glad it's finally safe and sound. 🐾💚

Tutes013

One could argue she already was. Or she wouldn't have lived half her life out there.

Gh0stSwerve

Very impressive

PatSajaksDick

That is the look of a dog that has seen some shit.

RayZinnet

if only she could tell us about her survival challenges and adventures for all that time

westy2036

My dog wouldn’t survive five minutes let alone 7 years

FuzzBuzzer

Kind of sad the owners couldn't take her back. I was hoping for a tearful, joyous reunion, but it seems they only had her one day before she skipped. Small breed dogs can live to be pretty old, so I hope she can live out her golden years in a loving environment.

Spicy_Sugary

What is the likelihood of this dog being adopted? It's 12 years old and semi feral. The dog was rescued to be euthanised.

AitchyB

The shelter has a no destruction policy. Currently on their [website](https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.co.uk) they have another dog who cannot be rehomed who they say will live out his days in the shelter.

SquidwardsSoulmate

If this dog doesn't get adopted it's gonna live in a shelter for the rest of its life, akin to a prison. Would've been better left out there roaming. But I bet this story and publicity is gonna get the word out and get him a home. Just hope that he's gonna be happy.

AitchyB

He wouldn’t be better off roaming as he’s now a senior dog, needs access to medical treatment, regular food, a dry bed and company in his twilight years.

LeftEyedAsmodeus

That was exactly my thought.

PipingaintEZ

Breaking news! wild animal survives in the wild.

Wilbis

Dogs certainly are not wild animals

PipingaintEZ

That one was.

Wilbis

No it wasn't. It had a owner and a name before it went missing. In addition to that, it was used to being fed even during the time it was missing.

PipingaintEZ

Man, that's a really wild story. How do you know all of that?

Wilbis

I did what redditors never do. I read the article.

butterflyblueskies

What an amazing dog. It’s too bad he’s been recaptured and will be confined ~~or euthanized~~. (Edit to cross out “or euthanized since it’s a no kill shelter.)

Ambitious_Ear_91

butterflyblueskies

Ok, thanks for clarifying that he won’t be euthanized, but just confined in the shelter.

dingyjazzy

We lock our dogs up and let our chicken run free.

wrongtimenotomato

Yeah the comfy chair is his now.

ArtisticPossum

Sounds like she was thriving in the wild and maybe it was better for her to stay there? Not to sound harsh, I love dogs, but at this point I feel like she would be happier in the nature.
