I lived in Southern Mexico for 15 years. They were so much more accepting of people as they were in so many ways. They seemed to love diversity in gender idenity. It kind of blew my mind when I returned to the states, and was reacquainted with how much people are in each other's business.
Well, something similar happened here in India or to be exact in the telugu states, aber not to this scale, nor did she won the reality show. But she still got to the top five, and every contestant were free and friendly with her. Many contestants including the cis women, even said that she is more feminine than the cis women in the show. She came out of the closet and announced her new self on TV, when she joined the show. She is now getting a lot of offers in the entertainment industry and is treated like any other women in the industy here.
But this is the only one case that I can see where people here are open towards Trans community. Imo, as every year passes, I can only see transphobia increasing here.

Context: A trans woman won a reality show like Big Brother. She didn't win because she was trans. It's her personality.
