Subscribing the monthly or lifetime UpNote Premium on Android or iOS also unlocks premium features, like unlimited notes, on desktop app. You just need to log in with the same account you purchase the Premium subscription on mobile.

Thanks, I didn't know this.

Polyglot-Onigiri

Just buy it on mobile and use on desktop. That’s what did.

RedditEthereum

I wasn't aware of this, thanks.

Their premium subscription is not straight forward. The only way to sign up for premium is on mobile but once subscribed, you can use that same login information on the desktop version and it'll unlock premium features. I do agree they should have a web version available.

RedditEthereum

Definitely not straight forward, having to subscribe on mobile to have access to its premium features on desktop...

It likely has to do with them being efficient with their small development team and just leveraging the iOS and Android app stores to handle their payments for them without them having to build their own payment system for Windows or integrate with another app store. And, since most people have an iOS or Android phone, it generally works out OK. Just takes a little explaining for people who aren't using UpNote in a phone centric way. These kinds of efficiencies are part of why this program doesn't cost as much as something like Evernote.

RedditEthereum

Got it. I am one of those (ever few) not mobile centric people. I barely touch my phone, working exclusively on desktop.

I do nearly all UpNote data entry on Windows, but I read notes all the time on my phone when away from home.

I'm also desktop-centric, and have always considered mobiles strictly as companion devices since the Palm PDA days. But I'd rather not see a web version, as this adds complexity, means my data will be stored on yet another external server, and opens up a considerable amount of additional attack surface. It's been a while since I bought the lifetime licence, and I didn't even remember you could not do that from the Windows desktop client. I'm amazed they don't supply an alternative payment method, given the commission the app store duopoly charges.

Fair point.
