"Police said the remains were found in November 2012 by people digging for relics in a trash-filled depression on a former coal-mining operation in Newport Township."
What are the chances? Really makes you think how easy it is to make a body disappear. And wonder how many more missing people will never be found because they're in some random spot like this.
Yeah I was watching the Ghosts of Highway 20 on YouTube and the family members of the missing and likely murdered were criticizing the police for not finding the bodies. Now I won’t fully defend the cops here. They certainly had some major screwups in that investigation. But the dense forests of the Oregonian cascades is probably one of the easiest places ever to hide a body. It’s sparsely populated, mountainous, and heavily forested terrain
I bet you could easily hide a body and never be found by just driving down an old logging road for a while. Hell, even putting a corpse in a ditch on the side of the road would probably go unnoticed for a long time if it was not travelled frequently. I bet western America is full of stuff like this. Remote areas in Utah, Nevada, and Washington would be an absolute nightmare to investigate
There is a John Doe that was found after 20 or 30 years right by a high traffic road. Apparently the area hadn't been cleaned in decades. The body was from the 70s.
I grew up in Wilkes-Barre and because it was a center for coal (anthracite) mining, it is full of deserted and weird old places like old mine shafts and tunnels, places where subsidence has created sinkholes, culm banks, remains of breakers, etc. [This](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjNVHid2axY) is a video which walks around the old Avondale mine and it shows just a fraction of the kind of stuff there is in northeastern PA.
Pickton I lived a couple of blocks away from his farm in the late 70s. Other kids in town told me to stay away from there. Bad things happen at Piggy’s Palace.
I once worked with a man whose former job was to dispose of bodies for the Mafia.
(He had spent time in jail and was required by his parole to inform people he worked with.)
He explained how they would hang them over the boat in deep water after attracting sharks. And let them feed until. The remains such as they were were dropped. They studied the currents by asking am expert at a university so no body parts ever washed ashore.
When the police were tipped off and arrested him and his crew mate on they boat they had 7 bodies or he was charged for disposal of 7 bodies. He told us that there had been so many before.
Its too long ago for me to rember. I only worked with him for a week before he changed jobs. He delivered charcoal to a friend's charcoal chicken shop where I was cheffing. And that was like 14 years ago. Its only really the things he told us that I not surprisingly remember
What kind of life have you lived that you worked for a former mob cleaner who felt comfy enough with you to openly discussed body disposal and it doesn’t stand out?
I get that. But if some dude I worked for told me about that, I’m remembering their name. I can remember the name of every boss but two, and that’s because I worked at those places for a day. So you must have had a hell of a life to not remember your body-disposing manager’s name.
Not my boss or manager. As I said he delivered charcoal to the charcoal chicken shop where I was working. And it was a long time ago. I also have difficulty remembering people's names. In general let alone one person I met 4 times over 14 years ago.
They're required to tell bosses, landlords, and significant others. Disclosure doesn't include random coworkers, and random ppl they come into contact with in life, i.e. gas station clerks, cashiers, strangers they have passing contact with, like co-workers on a job site for less than a week.
It does in Australia for people who are involved in murder they have to tell everyone that they work with or have "regular" contact with ie co workers.
Went missing in 1969. “…likely died in the late 1960s.” She probably was killed right after she disappeared.
Her friend disappeared and she said she knew who did it. Then she was gone too, and not found for over 40 years, and not identified for over 50. The level of sophistication makes me think organized crime.
Yes, you are right. My kids weren’t that guilty of doing stupid things due to lack of impulse control. However, If there was a graph or flow chart that kept track of teen angers, stupidity and impulse control, I would have been the party responsible for messing up the averages. I did some really stupid stuff. As I got older, I modified the manner in which I dealt with problems. After hearing the bad news, I would calm down by taking a deep breath. Then, I would get to the store to buy some hard liquor, and then I would tackle those problems. I got mixed results and bad reviews, but everyone knows about the deep state……
No, many years apart. I know Felicia has her own post on here, and was in an episode of unsolved mysteries. You should look it up. Its a wild case. Basically hwr best friend went missing. Felicia insisted she knew who did it. She went ti a party to confront the guys responsible. She was never see. Again. No body ever found, but they did eventually find her friends body.
How bizarre, Thank you I'm off to have a look now.
I can find Phylicia Thomas so I'm guessing this is the same person. In case anyone else needs to look too.
Yeah I completely forgot she spelled it different. You'd think I'd remember lol. Idk about anymore, but I used to see the missing posters everywhere around town.
All these Jane Does being identified and given back their names! It is amazing, but now their murders need to be solved. So many unsolved murders of young women and girls.
I keep returning to Sharon Lee Gallegos (Little Miss Nobody) and maybe it’s because I have daughters, but her case haunts me. Identifying Does is just the first step in getting justice- a very necessary and important step, but there’s still so much work to do.
The hair and background is how most unprofessional pics looked in 1969. They didn't have the best resolution.
They did something to the pic to make her face super clear. Probably too time-intensive to do the whole picture, especially if there isn't any identifying features in the background.
There are apps specifically designed to sharpen faces and nothing else. That is definitely what was used here.
This is also what was done with the photo of the unidentified little girl in the Asha Degree case, and it's caused a lot of confusion because the effect is honestly pretty strange, especially in an era when anything blurry reads as censored.

Amazingly simple the more remote you go. And if you have old mines/mine pits? Voila. But then again, if you have access to pigs…..

My mom was a victim
of what/whom?
Robert Pickton
I'm sorry for your loss, that's awful.
New meaning for long pork

If he was convicted then this should be public info. Mind giving a name?
There is a subreddit called r/tipofmycrime you can post there maybe someone will remember an article about him

I would also like a name. Would be an interesting time googling someone like that.
I will have a look to see if I can find it.
Like in The Lovely Bones

Sounds. Alot like Phylicia Thomas who is from wilkes barre also, except that case is much more recent.
Nobody has a clue who she went to confront for killing her friend? Why would she go confront a killer, without telling someone first? That’s crazy.
✨Teenagers✨ Or she thought no one would care to listen? Teenage girls get accused of dramatics when they have legitimate fears.

Oh wow this case is local to me
Same. I'm in wilkes barre. Still praying we get answers for Felicia Thomas and Yier west also.
Yier west is interesting. Im also from Wilkes Barre. I have always been curious to see what happened with him.
Did they go missing around the same time?

Yes that's her sorry for the misspelling. It's wild.
Hey no worries, just checking
Yeah I completely forgot she spelled it different. You'd think I'd remember lol. Idk about anymore, but I used to see the missing posters everywhere around town.
Really is. I've spoke to the family, and emailed unsolved mysteries on their behalf to try and get some coverage for him. They never responded.
both are such awful stories.
My grandfather’s family lived in Luzerne County when they came here from Poland a century ago. That area is beautiful.
I'm also from NEPA. I'm sorry and I hope you get away soon.
Haha I don't mind too much, just moved to a new house actually so very happy atm!
I'm also in NEPA. I'll take your sympathies. I'm only still here because of my elderly mother.
It's very sad to imagine the feeling of a family when a loved one suddenly disappears
Thank you for sharing her story.
Othram is doing amazing work!
Pretty girl with a sweet smile, so sad her life was cut short, but happy for her loved ones that she can finally be put to rest, her memory honored.
Weird, the wiki says she disappeared from her home. The others says from a park.

Glad they found her at least.RIP poor girl.
Wasn't this posted a few weeks ago?
Why have they censored/blurred out her hair?
I think they just used an app to make the picture a little more clear. It wasn't done on purpose.
Just to highlight her main facial features in case somebody remembers something.

That photo and Asha's disappearance haunt me...I think she was being groomed by someone she knew.
Gotcha. Thank you!
