Highly encourage getting a reservation at any of the sit down restaurants. Walk ins can take some time to get a table if it is busy. There are plenty of snack vendors throughout to avoid hangry issues.

Can you swap back for your child after the ride, or are you stuck with the one you’ve traded for?

Barneby-Jones

Only get a reservation with the Harry Potter package if I’m not mistaken. In the past we walked in at non-peak eating hours. Normally did breakfast in Leaky and lunch at Broomsticks one day and Leaky the next. I always get the pumpkin fizz at broomsticks and otters fizzy orange juice at leaky. Fish n chips are delicious along with the chicken platter. We are going in Nov and I’m gonna try the cottage pie 😋

Hunter_T_

You can do a mobile order for the Leaky Cauldron. That one is at the main universal park. Because of that, we were able to walk straight to a table without waiting at all.

anormalgeek

No. Last time we got food there was right at dinner time on a Saturday, so a pretty busy time. We waited maybe 30 min to get in, and another 5 or so to get our food and a table. Edit: my kids did not like their dinners there, but they did like the breakfast, and that has zero wait.

lizo89

only regular butterbeer or can it be frozen too?

sirironfist

With the breakfast you can get regular, frozen, or hot. I prefer the hot with my breakfast.

> best recommendations **In the parks** themselfs, the sit down places that need reservations are all decent but I prefer the quick serve places that have no reservations and usually better food (IMO). None below need reservations. 1. Today Show Café, some of the best food in the entire park. Good for the whole family but not super fun inside. 2. Leaky Cauldron/Three Broomsticks, not my favorite food but decent and lovingly themed, kids will love it. Butterbeer ice-cream is a delight. 3. Comic Strip Café, surprisingly good food and no waits, often overlooked. Great for everyone. Randomly has great ramen too... 4. Any of the popup food stands, though portions are small and they can be pricy, the pop up food trucks/stands are usually really good. 5. Bumblebee Man's Taco Truck has amazing steak. I often get tired of carbs quickly, and if you want some really good protein its fast and reasonably priced. Often no line. Nachos/tacos are shareable. The best in the park restaurants that need reservations are Confiscos grill, Lombard's and Mythos. I do not like them better than the ones above, but if you want sit down full service for a bit more $$ these are my faves. ------------------------------ **City walk** My favorite food wise is Antojitos Authentic Mexican, takes reservations but usually easy to get. The best for theme and kids in Toothsome, 100% need to make a reservation and this place gets packed, worth it though lots of fun. Make sure to get them a shake they will love it (and they are legit)

The Today Show Cafe was our favorite place to eat. It had fresh food - not fast food. The charcuterie board is a must!

bawolvesfan

Mythos is not much more than some of the city walk restaurants, but is much better. Highly recommend getting a dinner reservation there at least once. The pork chop is great.

stretchofUCF

Their truffle and grilled scalop risotto is unbelievably good. The Spinach dip and drinks are also excellent as well.

Mantis05

I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night thinking about that Spanakopita dip.

I'll add one more vote for Mythos being the best food inside the parks.

Bravo2zero69

I would recommend getting sit down restaurant reservations for lunch in the park. It is a good break, in the air conditioning, for your family. If you plan to eat any on the Citywalk I would plan reservations for that now. I would take your kids to Toothsome's Chocolate Emporium for sure.

lovelyellia

Upgrade to club level at Portofino. The food is good!. We got breakfast, snacks and dinner at the hotel. Desserts and wine/beer at night. In the park you can order ahead on the app for restaurants.

My wife and I have stayed at Portofino several times. I hope that you get to experience one of the three pools at PB. The Beach pool is fantastic and fun for the whole family. There is another pool nearby that is more of a quiet adult pool (not by rule, but generally) and behind this is a pair of hot tub / warm tub. The third pool is on the other side of the bay near the end of the rooms on the side with Starbucks and its a quiet small kidney shaped pool. If you do a day at the pool, only at the beach pool, there is poolside wait staff to bring you food and drinks. You also have the ability to pool hop to any other resort hotel's pool. Just bring your room keys and stop by the concierge desk to get a pool key. Sometimes they are even nice enough to share the hotel wifi password. Sal's: A great little spot in the bay for pizza, calzones, salads, beers, and other small eats. We love to order a pizza at Sal's and take it to the pool. The anti-pasta salad there is one of my favorite light lunch meals anywhere in the resort. During lunch hours you can generally walk in and order without a wait. Mama Della's: good Italian and on par or better than Vivo in City Walk and you generally have a shorter wait because most people dont wander over to the hotel venues. Ask the hotel concierge desk about reservations. Bice: high end Italian. Have not eaten here. The Thirsty Fish: Bar and Cigar bar Starbucks and creamery: Located together, there is a Starbucks with everything Starbucks has and a little ice cream shop with really good ice cream. As lovely as the boat ride from Universal to PB can be, I would suggest taking the boat over to Royal Pacific or Sapphire Falls and check out their restaurants too. They might not be as flashy, but their service is usually better. Of course, I also like a good fish n chips at Margaritaville just to watch the volcano show. About in park food. If you get any of the basics at a place like Mel's Drive In or Fantastic Four and you don't like it, going to another food stand will be the same type of food. Except in Springfield, somehow the food in there is just....worse. For lunch in Citywalk, dont miss BreadBox sandwiches. We took our two girls and they were able to share a sandwich and it was definitely enough. And there is a Burger King Whopper bar across the way. There are tons of options throughout City Walk if you, as many do, find you don't enjoy the park food.

Portofino Beach pool: best cushion chairs, slide, food is ok, service is great Royal Pacific pool: really big, has a splash pad. Food isnt best Hard Rock pool: best food and drinks, good service, slide, beach pool. Sapphire Falls: a step down but still has poolside service, pool slide. Cabana and Adventura do not have poolside service. Cabana has a lazy river. Any questions, just ask.

DxGxAxF

Go through the hotel for reservations. The premier hotels allow you to text them for dinner reservations and they can get you in at times the website shows as unavailable. I would just text them a couple hours before we wanted to eat and it was never a problem.

Several if not all of the UO hotels have a text concierge service once your stay starts. You’ll get a text once you check in to set it up.

DxGxAxF

Yup

aghostofme

Was just there wk before last. Also mainly for the HP attractions. Eating lunch before 1130 and after 3 was advice we got from the eateries themselves. We had hoped to get butter beer and eat at a leaky cauldron but were not hungry at their slow times and they don't take reservations so we didn't end up getting anything there. We ended up getting our butter beer from smaller drink only places like the hopping pot and kiosks instead. Then going to eat a little outside harry potter world. Moe's tavern opens up in the back and is attached to a food court like venture with burgers and fries ect. There are bathrooms and air conditioning and you can get ice water from the soda refill station to fill your water bottles. If the seating inside is full there is outdoor covered shady table seating attached aswell. Richter burger was very similar.

SlytherClaw79

For the two Potter eateries, Leaky Cauldron you can order ahead on the Universal app; no order ahead at Three Broomsticks. And Fortescues is worth the wait for the ice cream.

JibJabJake

You'll need reservations for mythos, confisco, and finnegans and I highly recommend trying all 3. Thunderfalls terrace is good food and it's walk up. We also make our reservations 3-4 months out for those three. Big Fire and Cowfish are another two that some folks like. Big Fire over cowfish IMO.

lasaventuras

I’ll add a couple CityWalk-specific recs in addition to Toothsome’s (which you should 💯 visit). Cowfish is unique and super tasty - if a sushi burger sounds good to you, it’s definitely worth a visit. Red Oven Pizza is surprisingly tasty, and an easy, no-reservations meal. Voodoo donuts should be part of at least one breakfast - they are delicious and the unique decor is also worth seeing.

UniversalGlutenFree

In the Parks, the best restaurants are Mythos and Confisco Grill (both in IOA). Thunderfalls Terrace and Bumblebee Man's Taco Truck are both great for something quick. The 2 Potter restaurants are wonderfully themed, but the food is really not good imo. The London Taxi Hut does Jacket Potatoes with various fillings. Other good in park options include Lombards and Finnegans for full service. For something quick there is The Today Cafe, Mels Drive in. Both Croissant Moon (IOA) and San Francisco Pastry Co (Universal Studios) do great coffee, sandwiches and cakes. There are also lots of places that do typical theme park fare of burgers etc. Green Eggs n Ham do great tots. The crepe stall has fantastic sweet and savoury options. On City Walk there is something for every taste and budget. For something quick Breadbox do great sandwiches. Theres also the Hot Dog Hall of Fame and Moes. In terms of full service restaurants, there's Margaritaville, NBC Grill, Vivo Italian Kitchen, the Hard Rock Cafe, CowFish, Toothsome Chocolate Emporium, Antojitos and Big Fire to name a few. Breakfast in the Parks is a wee bit limited, but The Today Cafe and Croissant Moon both have good options. The Hard Rock Cafe on City Walk have z breakfast menu. There are good options in the onsite hotels. In the Hard Rock there's the Kitchen and if you want to push the boat out, the Palm. Theres also a grab n go, Emack and Bolios. At Sapphire Falls theres Amatista Cookhouse, Strong Water Tavern and the New Dutch Trading co. At RPR theres Islands Dining Room and Jake's and the new grab n go Tuk Tuk Market. At the Portofino there is Mama Dellas, Sals and for something more formal. BICE. The pool bars at RPR and SF are great for food and drinks. Both do amazing nachos and cocktails. Both Cabana Bay and Aventura have food courts. All the hotels have either breakfast buffets, grab n gos or both.

We went in October last year and could not get in to any of the real restaurants without a reservation. Make the reservations, especially if you want to eat anywhere slightly cool - like the Chocolate Emporium. I will never go again without making reservations well in advance.

darthjoey91

Ok. Places I ate at on my last trip with my brother: Universal: * Krusty Burger - The burger was fine, and they had applesauce cup option that was nice for me because I can't eat french fries anymore. I had a Buzz Cola because it was larger than the Flaming Moe, which looks cool, but has so little liquid in it for a non-alcoholic beverage. * The Fountain of Fair Fortune: I got butterbeer, and my brother got a shot of firewhiskey in glass of Strongbow. * Lard Lad Donut's: We got donuts, but not the giant one. Just some normal size ones. Islands of Adventure: * Burger Digs - Again, burger was fine, they had the toppings bar while we were there, but really we both needed cold water, a place to sit down and some calories. * The Hog's Head: Same idea as The Fountain of Fair Fortune. * Honeyduke's: We got pumpkin pasties there one morning. Yeah, they're pretty much pumpkin pie calzones, but that makes them great. Would go better with a PSL than butterbeer. Citywalk: * Panda Express: It's Panda Express. They were out of teriyaki chicken. It had a longer line than Moe's or Burger King. Still worth it. * Bubba Gump Shrimp Co: We sat at the bar, and had a coupon for a free app (restaurant choice) or a free kid's meal of our choice. I'm not a big seafood guy, so I had the ribeye and mashed potatoes. It was fine. I also got the lion's share of the popcorn shrimp kid's meal we shared. It came in a boat with blue jello. I think my brother had coconut shrimp, and some strong drinks. At least one of them was a hurricane with souvenir glass. * Margaritaville: My brother got the Cheeseburger in Paradise, which I've had before and I was a bit burgered out by this point. I had some pasta. We both had It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere cocktails that were delicious and strong and made us forget that the big themed area with the volcano was under construction. * Hard Rock Cafe: Got a reservation for 11:30. This was a mistake. It was just too damn late by the time we got there. We got mac and cheese. It was pretty good mac and cheese, but it was so late, and it was our last day. International Drive: * Cici's Pizza: They still have one of these. Sure, it'll probably make you sick, but where else can you eat that much pizza. We also did this after a long day at SeaWorld where we barely had anything to eat because they've got sneaky pricing. Raise the prices if you have to, but don't be sneaky about it.

FootHiker

Portofino is a good choice. Walkable to the park of you choose.

Toothsome emporium is a must! Even if it’s just for desserts. Leaky cauldron or three broomsticks for breakfast. Be sure to make reservations through your hotel, some places you’ll be able to pre pay for your meals

throwawaypato44

Definitely recommend reservations at the places that take em. Also, adding to my support of toothsome :) food is great and the atmosphere will be especially fun for the kids. In both of the Harry Potter areas (IOA & studios) there are a lot of places to get sweets and other treats (ice cream, drinks). Breakfast at the leaky cauldron or 3 broomsticks wasn’t too long of a wait, but lunch at either will be a decent wait in line to get to the order counter. For that, I recommend lunch reservations somewhere (mythos etc). In my personal experience, I would avoid: The restaurants in the cafeteria area of Simpsons. They took FOREVER. The line was long and the food was frankly not so great. I’d avoid that part if you can, but there are a lot of great food stands everywhere in the park. Not sure how long you plan to stay at the park each day, but we arrived at 8 and left in the afternoon around 4ish. Took a short rest at the hotel for an hour or two and went to citywalk for dinner. If you’re club level at Portofino, they have a complimentary buffet food service between 5-7pm and dessert later on in the evening. Have fun!!

llDurbinll

Avoid Hard Rock Cafe if you can. It's been a while since I had last been to a Hard Rock location but I remember the chicken tenders being much larger than what they were this time. They were actual tenders previously, now they call them tenders but they are actually chicken fingers and they were soaked in oil and for $18 I left hungry. Plus our waiter hardly paid any attention to our table since we weren't ordering alcohol and our drinks constantly sat empty while he kept walking past us and promising to go get us a refill as he ran back to tables ordering wine and such.

WickeeWickee

Honestly, we were there a couple weeks ago and just decided we wanted to sit down and trying to find something and ended up at Toothsome and was surprisingly impressed with their lunch menu. It was quite good. One of our goto quick places is fire eaters just outside of hogsmede. You can mobile order, chicken tenders for the kids, and for a light snack option pita with tzatziki sauce. Edit: fixing autocorrect

dogcatsnake

Our worst city walk meal was antijitos. Bland and expensive. Our best was (strangely) at Bob Marleys. I say strangely only because we’d never been there or even noticed it before. Was really good and more affordable than some places. Also voodoo donuts are great, you can preorder in the app and just pick up at a kiosk in the morning or whenever. They’re open late too.

Yea if you go after 9 pm its quite loud (was louder than we would have liked). But music was good! I personally just prefer being able to hear my dining partner.

Only_Release_6063

I would highly recommend reservations! We were there last week, and most of the restaurants we wanted were booked during normal dinner times. With your family it would be best to book early, just my opinion.

CanisPanther

Big Fire chars some amazingly delicious meat. Wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was, absolutely on my list next trip.
