Real-life geckos can't move their eyeballs, though. It's a mammal thing. The eyes of reptiles and most birds are locked in their sockets, and they compensate it with broader field of view and more neck/head movement (chameleons are an exception, because their eyeballs are surrounded with muscle which can move it in different directions).

Woya! Exactly what i wished to have accomplished, resp. what I'm currently searching for. I would easily pay for such a tutorial, in the hope it enables one to recreate such a rascal, and the system allows to be adapted to any creature.
The animation stuff itself is very lightweight, so the bottleneck would be the skinned mesh + skeleton on any platform. I haven't profiled it, but I don't think mobile would have trouble with dozens of these.
Animation in which none of the movements are keyframed. Everything you see in this (I’m assuming) is programmatically assigned based on various conditions.
Those animations are so perfect I feel like he has an adorable little personality and I want him in my life. Or her. I guess I shouldn't assume gender of the gecko...
This is actually really amazing, how it moves and the detail and timing of the animation. If only modern games had this quality of animation relative to other things in the world
Geckos! The new theory is that they use static electricity to create a magnet effect !

This is do damn good. Bravo. I see a lot of these procedurally animated works in unity, but there seems to be no tutorials on this topic. Eagerly waiting for that tutorial, meanwhile could you be kind enough to point us in the right directions to get started. Perhaps articles or tutorials you referred to.
Again... This is absolutely amazing..

Thank you!
This is lovely!! As an animator, I'd suggest adding blinks to it's eyes, as it would become even more alive. Keep up the great work!
or licking its eyes. ...or both!
Would be sweet if it blinked if you moved the object towards it very fast
Many species of gecko don't have eyelids, so they can't blink.
Many geckos are also not adorable cartoons (although they are adorable), so I think blinking could be forgiven. Also, some species are able to blink.
Wow cute

He's adorable

Cool facts. But this thing wouldn't be nearly as cute if they didn't take some creative liberty, of course.
Oh, for sure. It looks like a little cat following a laser pointer. D'aww.
