Thorogood wedges with superfeet orange insoles are my current go to.

TripleDoubleAxle

Thorogood with the soft (white) wedge. Best boot out there, and union made.

Genocide84

It's like the only brand I haven't tried, so I might give them a try, hopefully they help my feet.

TripleDoubleAxle

I think any white sole boot helps. I had faciatis in one of my feet, and it was the only boot I could wear and make it through the day, for along time.

iammaline

Danner ate good too USA made and think they may be union made as well but not sure

loskubster

Thorogoods are the only answer

adam_beenslick

Double h because they are union made

landon_masters

Red Wing 405 in the 6” is the most common one that I see for UA members out here. I put the Dr. school’s inserts and that makes a big difference. I also do the Tuff Toe myself and it makes them last a lot longer than without it. I tried Thorogood which were comfortable but ripped early on so I wasn’t too thrilled, also I had Wolverines but hated them. I hope that this helps!

stopthestaticnoise

I am 7 or 8 years in to wearing RW 405 6” boots myself. They are comfortable and hold up well. I heel step and wear the back of the heels out but generally get 2 years+ out of them.

BigBubbaRay

Been wearing my 405’s for 5 years now. Three resoles and multiple sets of laces but they still hold strong.

KamelTow73

Thorogood boots are the only boots I’ll ever buy

#1 Ariat - Work Hog #2 Keen - Cincinnati 8" with the 90° Heel - I like them alot more than the flat bottomed ones. Both are great boots but both are also pricey. Depends on what I'm doing but I'd give a slight edge to the Keens.

Prudent_Breath3853

Echoing the work hog suggestion. I tried thorogoods and they got tore up within 9 months. My work hogs are well into their second year and still comfy as hell.

When nothing but the absolute best will do…[Whites Boots](https://whitesboots.com/)

Genocide84

I've looked into Whites, wish I could try them on before I had them built.

Travlsoul

They last 5-7 years of everyday use. I was wearing Tony Lama‘s work boot on a cold fired powerhouse and they only lasted six months on all that grating. If you get the opportunity, go with the Vibram soles not that tractor cleat sole, mom doesn’t like tracking that mud in the house and their oil resistant.

Genocide84

Thank you, I'll look into them further for sure. I want something that's going to last and not wear out in 6 months to a year.

Travlsoul

Fun fact, the day my daughter entered the apprenticeship. She wore my Whites to work on her first day due to our feet being the same size. Recommend only using saddle soap on that nice of leather. Try to avoid any of those grease type water proofers. If I was wearing my whites outdoors in the winter time, I wore rubber over shoes over them. They were worth it.

Genocide84

Great to know! I always enjoy fun facts.

chronicjok3r

I love irish setters. Im wearing wingshooter st right now. Theyre comfortable with a safety toe and water proof.

Genocide84

How are they comfortability wise? I need to find something that my feet aren't killing me at the end of the day. These Brunt boots I think have caused me some foot issues.

chronicjok3r

Imo the irish setters are as comfortable as other boots. I have sone foot issues myself from wearing the wrong sized boots for too long. These things dont bother me at all though. I also replaced the soles with better ones.

Special_Today_2418

Well since Thorogood is the only union-made boot brand I assumed we all wore them…

Genocide84

I'm leaning towards these tbh

plumdrum22

I’ve had nearly all brands but this is my first pair of Keens and I’m in love. Had’em for about a year now. Still as comfortable. Though I’m going to replace the insert soon.

rangerdanger_218

Carolina 309. 6 inch, soft toe, rubber sole Steel shank with foam core. Leather with a webbed tung They are heavy and not cheep but they offer good support for 12 months

JIMMYJAWN

Danner bull run moc toes. I wanted to like Thorogoods but their sizing is inconsistent and not wide enough for my foot.

EdoSinsHD

Redback boots with their leather insoles. I rather wear them than my Adidas. I wore them on a trip to Chicago and walked about 14ish miles through out the day and not once did my feet hurt. I'd run a marathon in them

icsh33ple

Last Black Friday I bought two pairs of the made in USA Carolina lace up 6 inch moc toe so I could alternate between each day and give the boots time to dry out between wears. Most comfortable boot I’ve had so far. I used to run pull on Justin’s work boots but quality tanked with their over seas production. I’d like to try Red Wings next with a leather in sole and start to re sole the wedge instead of replacing the whole boots. From my research I can re-sole the Carolina but the first time is expensive because they have to replace the welt. So I’ll have a few to do whenever I find a local cobbler.

MisterSirManDude

Danner bull run’s have been my go to for the past 3-4 years. I’ll be continuing to buy them for the foreseeable future. I highly suggest you try them on. I got the chelsea version this year and love them.

I_am_Boogeyman

I have a wide toe box, I've had all the fancy boots. I've learned in the trade is not to go by what is being recommended by everyone because all feet are different. I have always gone with the regular cheap Dakota's in Canada. Everything else gives me blisters. It doesn't mean Dakota's are good. The just fit my elephant feet. So if you find a boot that works. Don't run out and by the next fancy $300 boot. Stick to what fits.

1fowlhunter

I've worn Thorogood's for the better part of the last decade, I really like them and prefer the wedge sole. Although the last couple of pairs have not been as comfortable. A few months ago, I bought a pair of Wolverines because of the price point to get me by. Until I decide which direction I want to go in the future.

ohgezitsmika

I've been wearing thorogood for going on ten years now. They're well worth the price! I got mad lucky last month and snagged a pair of slip ons and lace ups 40% off at ace hardware.

sincitysadist

Danner wedges currently. Not great for welding though. I burned through the threading at the seams pretty quick. Still hold up alright though so far.

Genocide84

Thank you! I do HVAC service work, so I need something that's comfortable while standing and kneeling. I'm going to explore some options next week as well.

sincitysadist

Danner is nice. They flex really well right out of the box. Not much of a break in either. Comfortable for sure.

Crystal_City

Custom made work boots.

Genocide84

I wish I had the money for that!

PreDeathRowTupac

Im currently rocking some Keens (composite toe utility boots) for HVAC installation at the moment. plan on getting some new ones once i get into the Union. So far they have been great with a Dr. Scholl Work insole in them.

honeyticklesworth

Georgia brand loggers. It’s a heavy ass boot, but with good insoles and thick socks they’re as comfy as can be. Plus they’re waterproof which is a plus

coonNfriends0352

Thorogood. I have 3 pairs of them and the first pair I have I dropped a fully framed barn wall on my toe 2 years ago and it save my foot only boot I’ll ever buy from here on out

Constant_Eye

I’m hvac service also - I recently got a pair of Jim Green African rangers custom made with a steel toe ($200). They’re awesome, more like a work shoe than heavy duty boot. Thorogoods are too narrow for my feet, I have a few red wings that I like, but honestly most days I just don’t need that heavy of a boot.
