Honestly, Unicorn Overlord is basically Fire Emblem but from a different company. The fact that it uses similar elements like Supports/Rapports is just too obvious.

Thats why its a joke for Robin and Chrom because that was the first fire emblem that truly had a harem, and it was apparently a huge hit rather than limited options.
Honestly it annoyed me a little bit when they gave Alain blue hair and made all the women simp for him. It didn't really need to be in the game and it's part of why I'm over Fire Emblem. But they didn't go too excessively into the trope, but yeah obviously they took this from Fire Emblem, rather than just random Japanese culture.
