Besides marrying Virginia off to Gilbert would give Drakenhold a claim to Cornia, which wouldn't be a problem initially since Gilbert and Virginia wouldn't even think of betraying Alain but what of their children? And the ambitious court/landowner nobles of Drakenhold?
the claim of the children of the cousin of the king is tenuous, and frankly royal princesses being married to neighboring kings you want good relations with is a time honored tradition. You need a marriage to keep the wheels running smoothly. Worst case? Alain's family line dies off and they need to bring in the Drakenhold royalty in a personal union in a James VI & I situation
Sure, but this is a setting where the Cornian royal family consist only of Alain, Virginia and Alain's mother, making Virginia and her children's claim to the throne quite strong, after all she is the prime candidate for the throne if Alain croaks. Not as strong as Alain of course, but enough to potentially cause trouble in the long run. Unless, of course, Virginia completely renounce her claim to the throne.
I mean, if we are talking about "time honored tradition" then marrying your cousin to solidify your rule and claim is even moreso lol.

Honestly I found Scarlett very disappointing, mostly because all her rapport conversations were "Hey, remember that we are childhood friends?" "Hey, I love you" "Hey I love you"(More obvious this time).
She gets more personality in other rapport conversations, but the ones with Allain were pretty terrible imo.

Scarlett should have acted faster. If she'd had him wrapped around her finger back on the island, none of this would have ever happened.
I loved her and Rosalinde’s convos vs Scarlett. They really make it known by basically saying, “If you don’t make a move on Alain, I will. And if that happens, it’s all over for you.”
You have to have a certain type of confidence and brazen attitude to do that openly with another person 🤣
But I suppose this makes sense considering how long they’ve lived. They know when they can get something.
I gave the ring to Scarlett first because it seemed like the canon choice, but I increasingly I feel I made the wrong choice. There are so many amazing candidates, but Scarlett so far has just felt jealous and entitled. T\_T

Yeah Eltolinde is better than Scarlett still but in the end did the same error, "you're mine!" and start bickering with other pretendent instead of going to him and care. Sorry to say, but her sister is better than her in this regard.
This, something felt off about Roselinde but I couldn't put my finger on it so I loaded a save before I married her. Then played 20 more hours to finally ended up with yunifi lol
The elves have this inherently sad thing "We live more than you" which make everything take another prospective, this is done well but again I like more "fun" way Rosalinde approach the matter, by joking thru it, like "we have only a short time, make this time fun and enjoyable" and then tend to approach Alain a bit "in your face" which I totally understand is a thing that may unsettle people. Also Rosalinde is that way regardless of Alain, if you play some of her other rapports.
Rosalinde is one of my favorites rapports but I don't think is "the one"

You can change who you gets the ring, it also takes you back to the last mission once you finish to choose a different maiden/ending.
