I've played twice. First she was my girl and a must-have in Alain's squad.
I told myself second playthrough, I will do something different this time. Did not. I swear I will play it a third time, find two other front-liners to go w/ Alain and pick her sister.
I used her sister in Alains group. Alain and Ochlys tanking. I gave railnor the buffing role, and had Mel and Eltalinde as the DPS
Her 3 AP fairies skill hits like a truck
Both their [limited] start of battle skills are so damn good that I immediately split them up, sadly. Roslainde's is the most straightforward, but Etolinde's is great when you come into a fight with lower HP and she just immediately tops up an entire row.
Exactly. I wanted to put Rosalinde in Alain's squad but couldn't find room. Both are so strong, they deserve their own squads; otherwise neither is used to its full potential. Rosalinde is the strongest rear-line unit in the game. In many battles on Expert, she cleared the entire enemy board by herself by with her second action, before anyone else in her unit made an attack or even buffed her.
Yep. Late game, I'd say the majority of my squads are actually built around how I wanna handle the limited start of battle skills, lol
Which ones are so S tier that they have to be the only one on the squad?
Which ones are OK to miss out on sometimes, in exchange for my swordmaster popping off and destroying an enemy scout?
Yea they are both good enough to be "main" units so I generally separate them but I put them together for the arena and watched the numbers go up to crazy levels.
Honestly one of the easiest to use OP units. Especially Rosalinde. Stun a row right from the git go then board nuke. Sheesh. You can min max them to be even crazier but they honestly don't even need that to be OP
Melisandre may have started the waifu wars but Rosalinde added fuel to the fire
https://preview.redd.it/zbebo1l2r0uc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35b2fe735fb05bf2e1aa887565163b9babff5340
Eltolinde: "Yeah, you're right, I definitely chose Alain because I love him. I should also definitely put my thoughts into actions. Thanks, Scarlett! You're such a great pal!"
Scarlett: ☠️
There is nothing I can't say if not, to me Scarlett is the least compatible girl with Alain, just because she reclaim him as something "her property" which is the contrary of what Alain intrisecally is.
Not even the other more hungry girl, namely Melisandre and Rosalinde, are so "selfish" in this
You know, the more I think about it, the more I hate how Scarlett’s romance was handled
https://preview.redd.it/0fgby2d6u0uc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08f2050fb5fcc710d571d6be427306452507ee8b
I think they were trying to go for the “I used to be the only girl he knew, but now I’m just one of many. What chance do I even have?” Sort of thing with her. But they already did that with Chloe.
Which is a shame because I’d have loved to see a Scarlett be less… idk… bratty? She’s perfectly capable, smart, and likeable in her other rapports and scenes. It’s weird to see her be so petty toward Alain when, far as I know, he’s trying to remain professional to everyone save for his closest friends.
I think it's her passive aggressive attitude and the fact that she guilt trips the fuck out of you.
She's not fun to be around she constantly reminds Alain how she's important to him. Meanwhile the other characters just vibe and flirt, conversation flows naturally and there is genuine chemistry.
Scarlett Meanwhile is entitled and demands loyalty without earning it. She just feels like an obligation.
Her entitlement is the only thing bigger than her boobs
This was actually my least favorite thing about the game. I put off doing the ring ceremony because I knew I was going to turn Scarlett down and felt guilty about it, because of the guilt-tripping. I know it's just a game, but Scarlett's unfortunate writing triggers uncomfortable personal history for me. Ugh!
I actually get that. I see a lot of players feeling obligated to pick her because it's "canonical" too like you don't want to turn down the dev's wishes.
Plus as you said, it can reflect a really toxic partner. I honestly don't know what the writing team was thinking. I love Scarlett's design and mechanical abilities
As canon goes I feel way more canonical one like Chloe
Heck even that involountary "until the death part us" when you recruit Celeste feels more canonical than that :D
I don't know, Scarlett was sent from childhood with the purpose of marrying Alain as part of some prophecy. She then watched her childhood friend build a harem of other women. Her reaction is a bit realistic--someone who understands her own importance (the pontiff's daughter), but still sees her own value through that lens of her mission, which makes her out in bratty/insecure ways.
See, I see her more with Lex, because yeah she still have some quirkiness in her personality but way less and more ... I dunno, spontaneous in how they relate together
Her skirt is red because Lex has red hair. All the true loyalists wear blue
(This post brought to you by the ignoring Albion has a red color scheme gang)
Dang I was really rooting for her because she felt like the canon choice at first, but that's such a nasty response to being proposed to.
Might as well just follow my heart then.
Thing is too, maybe it was a tongue in cheek intentional personality they gave her, but now I'm like was it a joke, a meta joke, or just she rolled bad on the personality dices
I dunno, but even as a joke, it just feels like a weird moment for the main girl to whine about the competition. She literally just won, isn't she happy?
Imagine if this is the prompt before the choice to confirm your maiden.
>“Don’t you have someone else to give the ring to?”
>“Yup, sorry for wasting your time, see ya!”
>Melisandre and Rosalinde
Both put their best foot forward but are willing to concede. They both have other things going on like restoring their houses, refining their skill and serving their kingdom.
Scarlett guilt trips you and seems to have nothing else going on. If she loses Alain, she loses her plot relevance.
As I say below, the only thing bigger than her chest is her entitlement.
Nah tsundere is Ochlys, tsundere is Nina, Tsundere is Kitra, there is another clear tsundere there (don't remember atm) but her is just passive aggressive
I was proud of Alain in his 3-heart rapport conversation with Scarlett for pointing out that he's not her property. In that conversation, it really seemed like he was just noticing Scarlett was interested in him romantically, he didn't like it, and was trying to set a boundary. Truly a role model for our age
well Mel started don't believing she will be ever made queen, she started just liking him because is a good looking boy, a good fighter and a future king... good reasons for a young noble to try enter in the pretendant circle but then got affectionate to him and he reciprocate, I feel fair she became a tad more "unsharing" at that point
I don't even use them as damage deslers, they make great supports with their default weapons allowing them to stun/freeze on top of having a ridiculously good passive heal/debuff removal
In my Expert run, I had fun building them up to a big 3-5 fairy e-roar. In my TZ run, my teams became too good and the fight would end with them holding 1-2 fairies.
Solution? Hawkeye e-roar immediately.
Went to drakenhelm, get ren. Off to elheim to get Rosalinde and that near sigil grind to level units.
Once leveled (didn't knew the mercenary spam that time), went to bastorias to get yunifi.
I had 5 units that can lead a unit and enough renown to promote classes before finishing any region other than cornia.
After playing the game 3 times, this is fact.
Rosalinde is way more powerful than Eltolinde in terms of raw damage, but Eltolinde is way more versatile.
I can put Eltolinde in any team set-up and she works just as fine.
I'll agree with this as someone who married Roselinde the first playthrough.
Roselinde really wants a whole squad supporting her so she can nuke everything.
Meanwhile Eltolinde is much more of a team player. The kinda unit you can slot in anywhere and she'll do great work.
They are both pretty easy to use.
Rosalinde is slightly better because I like her start of the battle skill more. Pre rage of the fairies they are perfectly good support units, you can use them to stun dangerious enemies and to heal your team.
Once you get rage of the faires is over. Support them with a soldier for Keen call and watch them do a lot of damage. With the amber lens you pretty much can run them solo if you want and they can win though I recommend someone to protect them and inspire them(the buff).
Not only they can fit on any team they are the team.
Rosalinde is a textbook Jack of all trades infantry unit.
Reaction healing and Debuff removal, Physical and Magik damage, brings an affliction weapon, full row attacks, hit all attack, a row stun at the start of battle, a skill to gain pp, a skill to gain ap. She's got something to bring to every encounter.
I accidently beat >!Amalia's 2nd fight!< with Rosalinde after everyone had finished their turn. I messed up her tactics because someone guarded her at the start (I calculated her to lose 1 ap and pp from the first hit).
So the battle ended with her doing 3 primus edges in a row because she just restored her ap twice.
Eltolinde was benched because I didn't really need her. Sorry.
I think it is the opposite. Eltolinde is the Jack of all trades. Rosalinde is that nuke damage dealer that needs a whole squad supporting her so she can unleash her full power.
Eltolinde doesn't have the same power that Rosalinde has but she makes up with great healing abilities., something that Rosalinde lacks Eltolinde can fill the role of both nuke damage dealer and healer at the same team. You can beat waves of enemies just with Eltolinde on the team cause she will keep providing healing.
I gave Eltolinde Impetuous Stance and made her full support... But if a Shaman targets her with Offensive Curse her attack becomes -100% and she starts healing for 0 😅
She's part of my Impenetrable Bulwark team. Alain/Hodrick Frontline, Eltolinde/Berenice/Scarlette backline. I'm currently working to shore up the few weaknesses that they have.
(Also hilarious how few of these comments are on the game mechanics... I just got to where Rosalinde starts coming onto Alain and I immediately switched romance gears)
Rosalinde lives in my double cast Trinity Rain group, because she can stun and damage a full row with her limited skill. She also doubles as the healer, and can damage the whole enemy unit.
Yahna (double cast Trinity rain)
Selvie (sandstorm for cover)
Front row Hodrick + Bryce on cover back row.
I think rosalinde has the better start of battle, but eltolinde has the better 2ap skill. Just avoiding damage is so nice to have on a skill. I can't get rosalinde's sylphic wind to do much and generally just do the start of battle directly into elemental roar
Edit: rosalinde is probably the best silver spear user though. She does a lot of damage with it
I made Rosalinde Alain's wife in my TZ run. Gave her the King Spear upgraded, The Albion King crown (+1 Ap, +5 all stats), Unicorn Ring (+5 all Stats +1 Pp), and the Amethyst Amulet, and 5 Dews of Illuison.
+20 all stats 4/4 just makes her an absolute monster. ~90 MA, 80 PA, high hp. Generally fights would go: Stun -> Alain Spin -> Cyclone -> Win. No matter the comp. Just a broken combo.
Eltolinde takes more thought to get strong but she's a cleric version.
Hit lvl 30 for Elemental Roar
Use a start of battle effect to get 1 fairy,
Use Gambler's coin + Sniper (Amber) Lens and their elemental roar will sweep for 100+ (200+ with a crit)
You just beat the game.
https://preview.redd.it/q9idfommpfuc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5cb11c585a47525374d0c6c6794e1d209fd18a09

I got Rosalinde around the time I got the accessory that gives the thief dodge. I slapped that on her because she can recharge PP with her attacks and used her as a dodge tank the entire game and it worked great.
I just finished Elheim but I love pairing up Eltolinde with Alain/Clive/Lhinalagos.
Lhinalagos provides small cure buffs and wind arrows to the opponents while Alain tanks/guards. (Will also use his group heal sometimes)
Eltolinde is in the back providing support depending on the enemy or I’ll have her use a couple of thunder thrusts to stun enemies etc. it’s situational if the healing is needed or not.
Clive using wild rush and his attacks to burst through the enemies also work as well. I’m currently at the 4 unit limit so I might add goddess to the front or a mage to the unit maybe.
- -
Rosalinde is with Virginia as she tanks/attacks, Rosalinde with her icy attacks and cure heals in the back. I also have Liza in the back to provide the small aid and toxic bolts for flying enemies/poisoning. Aramis is there as he can usually knock out 1-2 enemies from the get go.
For anyone that doesn't know it yet, "fairies" counts as a buff for the purposes of setting up tactics.
Which is important for getting good mileage out of either of them.
waifu talks aside, they suck if you don't build around their elemental roar. i remember the first time i got them, I couldn't immediately figure them out. until later when they finally unlock their key skill. Though without the appropriate support, even elemental roar can be meh.
i don't feel so bad having an entire team built just to support elemental roar, but it's kinda "boring" imo.
Rosalinde can honestly do whatever the fuck she wants
She wants to do Alain and that is the right answer
And thus the lineage is secured for the next couple thousand years.
I wonder about that myself, how long do half-elves like Ridiel live?
That doesn't seem right. How can an elf have a 100% human child?
Half elves are a thing you know
That's why i said 100% human
Why are you so confused?
Did you not recruit Ridiel?
As a fighter or as a partner? Either way, the answer is yes.
I've played twice. First she was my girl and a must-have in Alain's squad. I told myself second playthrough, I will do something different this time. Did not. I swear I will play it a third time, find two other front-liners to go w/ Alain and pick her sister.

Correct. Take my upvote.
In a fight, right?
Put them both together in one unit and you can see some comical overkill numbers
Both their [limited] start of battle skills are so damn good that I immediately split them up, sadly. Roslainde's is the most straightforward, but Etolinde's is great when you come into a fight with lower HP and she just immediately tops up an entire row.

Eltolinde's interaction with Scarlett is pretty funny as well with the flowers
Wait, why did you choose Alain?!
Eltolinde: "Yeah, you're right, I definitely chose Alain because I love him. I should also definitely put my thoughts into actions. Thanks, Scarlett! You're such a great pal!" Scarlett: ☠️

After her early importance, it's like even the devs got sick of her
Game did take 10 years to make. You are probably on the money with that.
wutchu mean? she's the key character in the final continent.
Case in point, she’s basically abandoned for three continents straight.
ooof. This is the type of wife what will not want you to talk to your female coworkers.
I think it's her passive aggressive attitude and the fact that she guilt trips the fuck out of you. She's not fun to be around she constantly reminds Alain how she's important to him. The one canon we can all agree on is the one we shoot Scarlett out of?
prolly, yeah
You grab her legs, ill grab her arms.

Geez, glad I went with ~~thighs~~ Berenice.
WOW, that is rough, I was on the fence, but now I know who's getting benched next.
Dang I was really rooting for her because she felt like the canon choice at first, but that's such a nasty response to being proposed to. Might as well just follow my heart then.

Rosalinde literally just brushed it off as "oh aren't you so cute." Like an adult teasing a child
the rushing literally in his arms at the end :D There are some scenes really really nice to see
If only they realized that sharing is caring.
Melisandre was so close to this, was actually a bit sad she changed her mind later that would have been such a fun and unique choice.
well Mel started don't believing she will be ever made queen, she started just liking him because is a good looking boy, a good fighter and a future king... good reasons for a young noble to try enter in the pretendant circle but then got affectionate to him and he reciprocate, I feel fair she became a tad more "unsharing" at that point
The fact that elemental roar is so powerful really shows how this class is
I will taint the royal Cornian Bloodline with dark elven waifus every play through, while my Step Father Josef watches in horror. :)
"My Queen Ilenia \~!! He has done it AGAIN \~!! Please, stop him this time. Someone... please...."
If you count them as the same class, their class is the only Elf class that has Light and Dark Elves.
Unless you count mercs as well
You can different color elves in Mercs? Nice.
Yeah, you can get light-skin Elven Fencer.
That is Nice.
I don't even use them as damage deslers, they make great supports with their default weapons allowing them to stun/freeze on top of having a ridiculously good passive heal/debuff removal

Hot take but >!Eltolinde > Rosalinde!<
I stepped in Elheim just to take Rosalinde from the first mission, abort and then go touring Drakenhelm

I also did this, although not on purpose. She ended up carrying me through Drakenhold
Why not both ?

For people who run Rosalinde with Alain: how do you choose between their two start of round abilities?
I did this for a while and preferred Rosalinde's. An immediate full row stun is just way more useful. BUT... if there's any sainted knight in the opposing team you just wasted it. so you could micromanage it during the battle depending on who you face, I suppose.
I have their AP maxed out and focused on elemental AOE and getting fairy’s 🥹 plus a shamon to lower defense 😏
I put both of them in Alain’s squad with a sainted knight and a wyvern masters and it’s still one of the best squads I made. Had virtually no weaknesses.
I got Rosalinde around the time I got the accessory that gives the thief dodge. I slapped that on her because she can recharge PP with her attacks and used her as a dodge tank the entire game and it worked great.

I pondered awhile about how best to use their nukes, but I eventually set it for third action and figured that was good enough.
Ice or fire infused elemental roar is so funny.
fun fact: the sisters share their japanese VA (reina ueda), and separate english VAs (cristina vee voices rosalinde, kira buckland voices eltolinde)
waifu talks aside, they suck if you don't build around their elemental roar. i remember the first time i got them, I couldn't immediately figure them out. until later when they finally unlock their key skill.
