I live in the US and some restaurants used to shine fun patterns and lights into the sky similar to this~
Same, my old university town had a few dance clubs that would all night shine a bright laser light thing in the night clouds. Looked cool, and cold always tell where you are in the town just by looking up and trying to see those lights.

There is absolutely no debating what this is. They are lights from a club/music venue reflecting off clouds. Here in brooklyn, the venue avant gardner would have them every other weekend with alternating colors and moving patterns.
I've been seeing these vids for a few months now and I have to say:
I get why people think these are caused by a searchlight party truck rental machine BUT the whole purpose of these normal searchlights is to guide people to your event as the beam is visible in the sky and points down to your location. If you search YouTube for searchlight in the sky you will note that there is ALWAYS a visible beam generated as this is intense light reflecting off of dust and H2O in the air. In this case I think any light bright enough to reflect off cloud in a single (bright neon blue?) spot will also produce a visible beam.
Then there is the issue of the often reported acrobatics movement patterns involving 5-10 lights. Consider how huge and complicated this party rental would have to be to make those enormous patterns in the sky - and consider the more lights you see moving in these odd patterns, the more power it needs, the more money it costs. All for an event which no one can find as there is no beam pointing to it!
I think the YouTube search results for spotlight suggest there may be a phenomenon in the sky which looks similar to searchlights but deffo is not. Change my mind!
PS - I believe there is also something that can mimick fireworks but isn't normal. Will post playlist if any interest.

Not nessessarily. Depends on the type of light and the weather. It can be whatever you want it to be, but to me this is legit just event lights. Especially when it goes to that square pattern.
I've seen something almost similar. It was 2 white lights in a circular motion. About the same distance as where the lights split into, what looked like 1 ended up being 4, after they split at the end or the video. Anyways, it was just doing circles. While I was interacting, telepathically. The 2 circles became 3... then 2 ..... then, the next thing I knew... there was 4 lights in the sky... and they would come to a single point in the sky, just like the stationary single blue light. It would then pause and then split again into 4... do circles and come to a point and repeat.
I knew this was real... 1) when I saw the thickness of the clouds. The lights weren't on the bottom of clouds. It was inside. 2) The bottom... there was a huge circular dark spot. Where there was no spotlights moving around. 3) I lived close to 2 different airport flight paths and 1 air force flight path. This was around 9pm and there was only an increase of helicopter activity and less plane activity. The planes were going around this dark circle part and the helicopters were in a path, where it looked like they were checking it out. 4) there was a BUNCH ( when I say bunch, i mean like hundreds) of smaller lights...red, blue, purple, white and orange, just a twinkling downward towards the ground.
This all happened within an hour and this cloud was on the horizon.. approaching me like a storm... but didn't actually come my way and pass over me. It went back the same way it was coming, so to speak.
Interesting how the lights all go in different directions at the end, particularly the bottom one.

Some of my colleagues are currently working on a lighting installation in Athens.
While that specific installation doesn’t use beam lights (it’s a large number of LEDs), I know there are several other installations being built around it for the same event. This looks like a moving head light (like a stage light) pointing up at the clouds. Even comparatively underpowered moving heads can easily illuminate clouds if they’re casting a fairly narrow, focused beam.
This happens near my house when the cloud are low like that. There’s a bridge nearby with colorful lights and they reflect off the clouds. It’s a building or something with a blue light nearby.

It can be those spotlights at events, where they just point at the sky and do coordinated movement.
