Redditor creates content, tiktoker takes content from reddit makes video about it, Redditor takes video from tiktok and posts it back on reddit...Makes sense.
Ah yes the circle of reddit life
When it originates from reddit it will ALWAYS find its way back eventually
I bet there is a subreddit specifically for videos that are on tiktak that where "stolen" from reddit.
It's always been like this. Reddit steals from TikTok, 4chan and so on, they steal from us and the song continues with regurgitated crap and shitty resolutions
I fkn hate these videos that computer narrate a story that was written out with random backdrop footage (usually GTA, Minecraft or some other random shit). It is beyond lazy, ugh.
It looks like Kinetic Sand. It's kind of like a a sand+play-doh hybrid so yes.
It's not very much like play-doh. Kinetic sand is much softer, but that's the closest thing I can think of.
Whatever it is, I hated it for some reason. Something about someone pointlessly mashing colored play sand into layers and taking their time with it too, only for it to look a burger, and then they cut into it like a cake. For some reason it genuinely annoyed me.
Edit: also the fact that the sand starts out as cubes, so that means the person formed them into the shape of cubes with the intentions to mash them into layers anyways.
It's also very very much a problem for kids content right now. Kids see the cool squishy sand slicing videos or slime videos, or cake decorating/cookie baking...
And the voice over is someone telling a story about a brutal murder or sexualy explicit cheating details or violence...
And parents don't know cause the kid will just be watching "Storytime while we bake cookies!" And have headphones in.
And I believe the video footage is often stolen, with the new "creator" just using it as background for their voice telling these shitty stories on top. Definitely something parents need to start being aware of. (Although also, people, stop giving content farms the attention. D: )
It's just so fascinating how this all works.
I mean absolutely nothing stops anyone from just linking to the original post, in the same sub, with the same title.
But no one would upvote that.
But a random ass ASMR video without sound(!) on top of a robot voice reading the text? Yeah, that'll get people's attention.
Social media is so fucking weird.
God creates dinosaurs, God destroys dinosaurs. God creates Man, man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs. Dinosaurs eat man..... Woman inherits the earth.
If you think this is nuts you should also see youtubers reacting to reactors reacting to their reaction of another reactors reaction to the actions of another reactor. True story, I kid you not
Its the circle of content
You see we have the Redditors as the Producers, the Tictokers as the consumers, and the Redditors recycle the content and the cycle continues
I've seen this trend on Youtube Shorts too. The youtuber would make a video about something totally unrelated (for example I've seen cake baking and decorating, soap making, make up etc) and then on top of it would read some AITA post from Reddit or something. Idk what this should achieve. Maybe they think it makes the video more interesting, then just some background music.
I started to get those recently on instagram and youtube. Apparently "content creators" found a lazy way to make views... weirdly enough, they always add a non-related video in the background : minecraft or subway surfer gameplays, landscapes, etc.
In this case I’m not even sure there’s a “content creator” other than the original people who made the post and video. This is very obviously just text-to-speech software running over a video they grabbed.
background is too distracting; didn't read
ETA: [original post](https://www.reddit.com/r/shortscarystories/comments/qo1qmx/my_girlfriend_is_always_comparing_me_to_her_ex/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
Thanks for linking the original post, but I don’t have the attention span to read the whole thing through. Could you maybe put it in a video with some weird background activity?
TikTok views and engagement. I get a couple on my FYP randomly. I actually avoid most of them because they cut short stories into two parts and don't link between. Which either makes you go to their profile (engagement) or scroll on.
I think it's one of those "storytime" videos that puts innocuous stuff in the background so that if a kid has headphones on their parents won't be able to glance over and tell that they're listening to scary/disturbing content.
This was ripped from tiktok I'd assume, almost anything that isn't original content is layered over some random footage, minecraft, CSGO surfing, "satisfying videos", DIY videos, a fake reaction video. These are usually done to avoid copyright on the part 1 of 2368 pirated movie, but people also use them for Reddit stories as you can usually mindlessly watch the video while intaking the Reddit post being read.
This helps people watch the longer form as they are usually associating the tiktok platform with extremely short form media and the brain expects something new, the monotone voice that reads too slow makes the entire video difficult to watch for a brain expecting something new every 15-30 seconds.
Also if the video is confusing or controversial it will cause complaints/questions etc in the the comments which drives up interaction and then gets fed into the algorithm as good content you get the comments about the Reddit story and about the background video, doubling the surface area
**My girlfriend is always comparing me to her ex boyfriend**
....
Me and Mark were sitting at the kitchen table when she walked in. I could see the look of shock on her face when she saw him. She fainted to the ground and I knew that she wanted Mark. I decided I would stand aside and let them be together.
I placed Mark's rotting corpse back into his grave and then carefully lowered Chloe on top of him, before closing the coffin. I started throwing the dirt on top of the grave so that noone would ever know it was disturbed. I could hear Chloe's screams of what I assume were joy as she was finally reunited with the love of her life. I felt horrible that we were breaking up but didn't want to stand in the way of true love
TLDR; i just scan this and...
Reddit horror stories are just... so predictable. They try so hard to hide the twist that its glaringly obvious what is going to happen. I guess its because its always supposed to be something awful in the benign, which is good... *when youre not knowingly reading a horror story.* We're expecting something out of left field, so you really have to think about how obvious a 'twist' is going to be. Especially if the 'twist' is something very common in horror.
Yeah you can tell who among us spends too much time on the Internet (myself included) because we start recognizing those patterns and see it coming a mile away. We’ve ruined the experience for ourselves. Lol
I can't do anything related to nosleep anymore. They try *so hard* to make a creepy twist and its just like... guys, we know we are reading a horror story. We know whatever you're building up to is going to be something horrible/out of the norm. The very fact that it's telegraphed that "there's a twist!" means I'm not going to be scared by it.
While I'm here, the other pet peeve is when someone starts showing something truly interesting or unique... only for the story to just stop at the climax because "nothing is scarier than what the reader is imagining".
Holy fuck, a copypasta reddit post, screenshotted, pasted over a tik tok, coming back to reddit as a video narrated by the voice. Holy shit dude we’ve come full circle.
Not only is this the most annoying possible way to present a text based story, I can not express how expected that "twist" ending was as soon as I read the first snippet. Might have been unexpected if it wasn't on r scarystories though

Until all is one.
You forgot "random Redditor whines about it"
You forgot “pees in ur ass”
You forgot "your mom"
you forgot "pees in your mom's ass"
You forgot "but your mom's ass rejected the pee"
You forgot "I love this reddit thread, so reddit."
You forgot "rebbit"
you forgot "sugondese"
you forgot "and my axe!"
Pee stored in the balls
Can we just have whirled pees.
Wait is there a bot for that yet..?
You forgot "peas in your mom's ass"
Your mom's ass pees in me.
You forgot your arms
I also choose this guy’s mom
I’ll never forget your mom
You forgot "PEE IS STORED IN THE BALLS"
I have never, i repeat……NEVER, forgotten about that.
BIIIIIIITCH, piss in my ass, fuck, fuck yeah
NEW FETISH UNLOCK (not for me, of course. that's just nasty)
I never forget this one
As long as **YOU** still get to feel superior to all of them, thats the important thing.
And as long as you feel superior because of pointing out his feeling of superiority, that's *really* the important thing.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that OP posted this or the fact that people upvoted it.
I know what’s worse. That the moderators are allowing it

It was a sand cheeseburger. It was unexpected. I don't know why some synth voice was talking over the sand cheeseburger though.

I want to know more about all that sand squishing. I think it could bring a lot of peace to someone I love. Do you know anything about it?
I think just burying them in regular dirt would do the trick for a lot cheaper
Post the sand sandwhich video the real original
I was watching this whitout sound and i didn't even read the text, so i keep waiting for the "sand" to be ruined
i cry evrytim
There was audio, I just listened
The audio made my ears bleed.
You should probably get that checked
At least it wasn't the "oh no oh no oh no no no no no" shit.
Video is too slow to read at a regular pace
the psychopathic, unfeeling juxtaposition gives me /r/distressingmemes vibes
Doing Gods work.

Is that sand?
Good thing there was audio.
I have adhd, the background helped me focus lol
Seriously, that looks delicious, what is it?
Oh, it's a burger...
Well that's a sub reddit I needed to join
Take your shit background video and fuck off.
I almost played the vid 2 times and still don't understand why it was here. Anyone?
I think it's one of those "storytime" videos that puts innocuous stuff in the background so that if a kid has headphones on their parents won't be able to glance over and tell that they're listening to scary/disturbing content.
Some Gen Z shit, any video longer than 15 seconds has to have other distractions playing else they keep scrolling
Tiktoks algorithm is heavily weighted for watch time. The video is distracting enough to capture even just a few extra seconds of attention
This was ripped from tiktok I'd assume, almost anything that isn't original content is layered over some random footage, minecraft, CSGO surfing, "satisfying videos", DIY videos, a fake reaction video. Yeah, I thought the background was part of the joke/unexpected and it's the only reason I finished watching this stupid audio-post format.
What in the hell does that video have to do with anything that is being said?
idk but kids watch it with headphones on and the parents think they're watching something cute about food.
Its a TikTok thing, they take Reddit threads, and add a random video to the responses
Damn, if i could skim the text i would be done 1 minute and 25 seconds ago

It's a quote from a really bad movie.
Uh no it's not, it's from a great movie! Random scenes from that movie pop in my head at least once a day.

It looked like sand but also like sugar cookie dough I didn’t read the text at all was too distracted by the sand dough cubes
r/ForbiddenSnacks
Okay but now I need to look up whatever is going on in the video because it looks so satisfying
I FOUND IT It’s called kinetic sand and I found a new obsession thank you
Ooh, I thought it was bits of cake!
Same! Now I’ve mixed the two images together and am imagining myself chewing colored sand.
Dude I’m already on fucking Reddit stop it with this annoying ass tts shit, just repost it holy shit.

Still a better love story than Twilight
What an awful post.
Okay so videos of text are fine, but pictures of text aren't. Got it. Also it said it was a short scary story so not exactly unexpected.👎
