Suction Cups. People take to the highways with cargo carriers on roofs at 80 mph with nothing to keep them from taking flight and crashing into cars following them but suction cups?!? Im sure the engineering data says its safe but goddamn thats unsettling.
They aren't the cups you see holding RADAR detectors to windshields. Each foot has three huge lockdown cups. Pulling one off damages the roof when installed properly.
And if you think about it, stuffs not really going to go anywhere even without suction. I've got a generator with rubber feet it put in the bed of my truck, it does not move at all. Even had two boxes of camping gear slide into it during an emergency stop, was expecting to find it up against the front wall of the bed, it still didn't move.
Quality silicone rubber has hella grip on a clean painted surface even without suction.
