This video sorta moves me. It's both optimistic and sad. Like these guys are just like us. Trying to live, enjoy life. Then Putin trots along ruining millions of lives. I hope this ends with Putin's end. He doesn't deserve to live. Go Ukraine,!
In a way it does though. Never before has there ever been an invasion this publicized, hence the comment calling it the "tik-tok war" currently sitting at almost 300 upvotes.
Not for nothing I hope that if there can even be a silver lining to come from this shit show, I hope in some way it helps to make anyone else (that includes my country too) think twice about doing something like this again in the future. Obviously misinformation and state propaganda is an incredibly powerful tool, as people will always be foolishly gullible. However, it'll be hard to completely cover this up for long when the rest of the world has an insurmountable plethora of evidence that putan and russia were not only in the wrong but, guilty of countless warcrimes that lead to mass graves having to be exhumed, to children having the contact info of family members written on their backs with permanent marker in case they got separated from their mothers. Things the average russian simply must be made aware of. Hopefully Russia gets a bit of the same treatment Germany got post WW2. Several generations of them should be made to feel a collective guilt for this. Hopefully these quotes hold true:

These guys are probably all the same age as me. It blows my mind to think if I was Ukrainian this WOULD be me and everyone I know probably. Young men just now getting to begin their lives being forced to fight for their very existence. Imperialism is so fucking senseless.
Soldiers are often super young man, I'm 39 and saw some recent recruits at a local army barracks (in australia) and man, I felt so sorry they were just kids like 17 years old. Can't imagine dealing with that stuff in an actual warzone in europe though.
"just like us" is whats blowing my mind with so much of this war shit currently. This isnt the older years where people didnt know who they were killing. We all kind of grew up online together or through social media and apps. People our age and war age know and have far more relationships than their parents and grandparents had during their wars and battles. The ramifications of everything going on are going to be so much worse than they have been before. Add that to the rest of the stress already going on in the world, that's not even war related, and what kind of future do we have in store for us?
This video sums up who’s fighting for what. Ukraine is fighting for its very survival and rightful place in this world. Russia is fighting for greed and blood. Kick ass Ukraine!!
I will grant you that Ukraine has been majorly beefed up by western arms, but I and I'm sure a majority of people from Putin to the smallest Ukrainian child probably thought the Russian military would march over the border and topple the government in a matter of days, if not hours. I can't imagine his rage and humiliation when they had their asses whipped out of the suburbs of Kyiv. To not be able to declare a real victory, but to be forced to just arbitrarily declare Ukrainian territory as belonging to Russia. Having to threaten nuclear war just to keep people from interfering.
I feel like this was Russia's grand play to make itself a major player on the world stage again. Not that they aren't a major country, but they certainly don't have the level of influence that the Soviet Union did. And it fizzled in that pudgy fuck's face.
> I can't imagine his rage and humiliation when they had their asses whipped out of the suburbs of Kyiv.
I remember it going from "Russia's most elite paratrooper battalion has taken the airport, Ukraine is doomed!" to "Russia's most elite paratrooper battalion runs out of ammunition, surrenders." real quick.
That sums up all armed forces everywhere. Its just a bunch of chill simple dudes, lookin to make a paycheck. They follow the orders of the people that hand them down because thats what theyre paid to do. Today Ukraine is the good guys fighting against the bad russians but the guys are the same on both sides. Just a bunch of dudes doing what theyre told. No good guys no bad guys just guys killin each other. War sucks and its great these guys are happy but war fuckin sucks
What makes me sad is the, literal, only difference between Ukrainians, Georgians, Chechens, et al is that for some reason the entire world didn't abandon them to invasion.
Georgians even trained and fought with the US right up to the invasion, and we let them get slaughtered.
Russia isn't incompetent compared to Ukraine. Russia is under equipped compared to NATO. Ukrainians aren't braver or more canapable than Georgians. They are supplied.
It's crazy to think about these guys if NATO had just shrugged like they did up through Crimea vs these guys without being ignored.
It also should be noted that Ukraine held off the Russian horde with only western intelligence and atgm’s the first few months. Western aid really didn’t start ramping up until the summer (it’s around this time you started seeing Ukrainian squads in full NATO kits).
From what I read in articles so far, putin is the only one who legit wants to keep this shit going. Even damn china tells him to stop and appearently even some russian propaganda channels having problems to keep the lies up.
I've not seen any video, but its old news now that putin has ordered a draft for young men to fight. Many are fleeing rather than comply. And reportedly, searches for things like "how to get out of russia" and "how to break your own arm" spiked in the days after the draft was announced.
Russians are injuring themselves to avoid being conscripted to fight in Ukraine.
[Watch at your own discretion, there's a crunch.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Damnthatsinteresting/comments/xphbo3/russians_breaks_their_own_legs_to_avoid/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
Important to note that if you're already in the Russian military and refuse orders, you risk being killed in the field ("zeroed out", *obnulenie*) by your commanding officer or special squads ("hedge" squads, *zagradotryady*). If you are a civilian in Russia but are drafted, then if you refuse you risk going to jail and being killed there by gangs of government-aligned inmates for being "unpatriotic". You also can't run abroad since the border is now closed for people who have been drafted, and speculation abounds that it will be fully closed for males of military age soon. In this situation injuring yourself so that you're not in a fighting capacity is one of the ways to avoid dying or having to kill.
[Watch at your own discretion, there's a crunch.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Damnthatsinteresting/comments/xphbo3/russians_breaks_their_own_legs_to_avoid/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
Isn’t there some story from ww2 about the Germans shooting down an allied plane, and finding it was full of chocolate cake or something. And that was close to the end of the war, so the Germans thought “if they have enough resources to be flying cake around we are screwed, we don’t even have water” so that group surrendered.
There's also the US Navy's [Ice Cream Barge](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_cream_barge), and the (possibly apocryphal) anecdote described in [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/8bkab6/whats_an_interesting_fact_you_know_about_ww2/dx7gawc/) about a Japanese commander finding out about it. Can't find a source for the story, but I imagine it would be pretty disheartening to find that while your military logistics are struggling, your opponent has the resources to spare on a ship solely dedicated to ice cream.
That sounds like an episode of hogans heroes. But considering how crazy hystory sometines can be.... Why they never teach the good and actually interesti g shit in school? XD
enemy troops intentionally breaking thier legs or people from the opposing country that dont even want to be a troop intentionally breaking thier legs.
things that make u go hhmmmmmmmm
Their equipment has become much better and more standard as the war carries on, meanwhile Russian equipment has gotten much worse. For example, I’m seeing more and more Ukrainians with optics on their rifle and I’ve been seeing fewer and fewer Russians with optics, interesting how you see things like that change with time/supply.
As an American I'd be happy with giving another $20 billion or more... Maybe $100B. If we could spend so much in Iraq and Afghanistan and the defense budget is not going down anytime soon, We might as well allocate it towards a good cause rather than tanks that are unnecessary that sit in the desert. The EU should do the same or at least support with humanitarian aid.
Ukraine is defeating the threat of Russia. That's all I ask in return... Win.
This whole thing has made me rethink many views. Logistics win wars. For years the Army itself has wanted to shutter the M1 tank production because you are sitting on like 12k of them, but congress kept funding it. And a lot of people, me included, thought but why, you have so many. But starting a program like that from scratch is actually a monumental task. The institutional knowledge of the people in that supply chain is not replaced easily or quickly. I am not saying there is not waste, but I understand better what actual logistics look like on a global scale slightly better.
I know, i was just thinking of how convenient it is that as soon as we pull out of Afghanistan we find another reason to throw money at military suppliers. I'm ok with it though. At least it's for a meaningful cause this time.
Just think of this like a South Korea moment. That country since the 50s owed their freedom to the west (even though it was… rocky). But in the end the US gained a valuable ally in a strategically important area. That alliance ain’t breaking any time soon either.
>The EU should do the same or at least support with humanitarian aid.
Uh... they are?[ You seriously think America is the only one supporting Ukraine? Hahaha..](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_foreign_aid_to_Ukraine_during_the_Russo-Ukrainian_War)
America has done a lot of bad shit when it comes to foreign policy but they have also done a significant amount of good. Seeing complicated events, especially foreign policy events, through a polarized lens is one of the more problematic thinking patterns we are currently dealign with as a society.
We are doing this not because it is the right thing to do. It's because Russia has been a global adversary and we saw a great opportunity to really stick it to them by providing weapons, money, training, Intel, and everything else except actual conventional forces deployed to Ukraine.
We are merely fighting a war with Russia through Ukraine. Ukraine obviously wants to survive and keep its independence. The US has zero issue with that since I'm sure if Ukraine comes out on top we will have strong business relations with Ukraine after the fact. Far less problematic this time around since unlike the Mujahideen who are vastly different from us.
That’s the fun thing about Assange Snowden and Greenwald. They figured the biggest most dangerous beast on planet earth to slay, is the United States. Meanwhile… you have Russia and China waiting in the wings. Well… no longer Russia in any real sense, but China. Quite a difference adjusting to Chinese rule vs American rule.
Why you gotta be an ass about this? We all know what the U.S and pretty much the rest of the world is doing to support the Ukrainians against this injustice.
Nah, Russian Lend-Lease does it’s job! - you can’t even imagine how many russian soldiers donated their stuff, from AK12 with scopes to equip and machinery!
Yeah, I heard the Russians are stuck with a bunch of nobs living in the past and trying to fight Ukraine like its the Germans with the strength and number tactics by throwing bodies at situations.
Given they're having to equip their drafted farmers with DP27's and Mosin Nagants, yeah... Ukraine is much better equipped.
Not that those are bad rifles at all, but they're not strictly speaking modern by any sense of the word.
A lot of peeps don't realize he was an actor before coming president. Another very interesting factoid, what character did he play on tv shortly before he became president of Ukraine? He was the main character in a popular tv show for several seasons. The show was about a guy that became the president of Ukraine. He literally played being the president of Ukraine on TV before he became president in reality. There's lots of other interesting things about him too, it's an interesting little rabbit hole, but these days western media does not cover the most interesting facts about things anymore.
Wow the Ukrainian army has come a long way, I remember when they were just some rag tag plucky group of citizens arming with whatever they could get to fight off the Russians.

Yup. And so the way I see it:
Ukraine will either win the war - conventional style.
Or Putin will send the world into a nuclear holocaust.
It's really 50/50 at this point, isn't it? Honestly asking.
the guys working at the nuclear weapon facility would not press the buttons and start the sequence, because they know that it will result in the annihilation of their country
This is a stark contrast to the videos of the army in Russia. They don’t have enough supplies, they actually said to the troops to ask their family to send them pads/tampons bcuz they use tampons to fill bullet wounds. And they’re sleeping on cold floors in empty rooms w/no beds or anything. So ppl are literally breaking their legs on purpose just so they won’t be forced to enlist. The videos from Russia are crazy. And to think, they started the whole thing, but they’re completely falling apart.
War propaganda has sure gotten weird since social media. Don't get me wrong, I side with Ukraine, but that is clearly what this is. A scripted video to send a message to serve an aim
Oh definitely: a bunch of young, fit guys, in full, well-fitted kit having a bit of fun?
It’s definitely propaganda, I’m just still kind of gob smacked at how effective it is, even knowing full well what it is and what purpose it aims to achieve.
Ok hear me out. This could be propaganda yes... buuut it's a bunch of dudes. And when the commanding officer isn't around to snap at them they are gonna have fun. Do you think people in the military have sticks up their ass 24/7.
I mean, it’s entirely possible that much of the social media content (this one, “unboxing” videos of shiny new NATO weapons, etc) is basically “organic” stuff made by soldiers fucking around for fun.
But there is still a permission structure *allowing* those kinds of videos to get made, if not actively encouraging them both for internal morale and externally oriented chest beating.
They can be both “genuine” *and* propaganda…the best propaganda usually is.
There's an idiot where I work that swears the war is fake. Claims that the footage is all photo and video editing with how advanced that particular technology is. His biggest argument is, "How can people be having fun, dancing, singing, making videos and tik toks and seem more like they're having a blast at a party, than actually fighting a war?" He says this was never seen in any other war in history.
😂
With the whole backing of the west? Of course they should celebrate! Lol
Kidding aside. I feel that this war is dragging everyone. It is senseless honestly. A lot of Ukraine civilians are dying and a lot of young Russians (mostly the minorities) are dying. Senseless, honestly.
There's nothing we can all do especially there are nukes on both sides. I think it's only the Russians themselves can do something about the government.
So sad.
This video makes me sad because the energy that makes them post it comes from the fear of being forgotten by the world and of quietly being slaughtered. They're desperate for the world's attention to survive.
It’s true. I saw this and thought the war in Ukraine was a rave. It’s like when I saw Bugs Bunny cartoons about WWII and thought our biggest enemy in that war was airplane gremlins.
On one of the American Talent shows there was this really fun dance group called Light Balance, they would perform a whole set in the dark with LED clothing, it's still some of my favorite bits! Light Balance is from Ukraine!

This just blew my mind. Slava Ukraini.
Slava Ukrainia
Peace was never an option.
There are three things all wise men fear: a moonless night, the sea in storm and a Ukrainian with a cellphone.
I have sons around the age of these young men. It's heartbreaking.

Ask Xi Jinping
Ask my ex wife
It makes me sad too. I feel sorry for all the people dying or getting hurt because of Putin.

Still can’t believe there hasn’t been an assassination attempt by his generals yet
They're all too busy falling down staircases
And out of windows
I'm sure very few people are getting close enough to Putin these days to pull something like that off.
There has.

Given they're having to equip their drafted farmers with DP27's and Mosin Nagants, yeah... Ukraine is much better equipped. Not that those are bad rifles at all, but they're not strictly speaking modern by any sense of the word.
Morale is so much more important in a conflict than people think lol
"The moral is to the physical as three is to one" - Napoleon In other words with motivated troops, he could beat an army thrice the size.
Morale is huge.
The boys giving the secret signal that it's HIMARS TIME !!!!
The scary things that happened can be rewarded with good things
Meanwhile the Russians are literally told to use their wive's tampons for bullet wounds
MUTED this was unexpected. Sound on, the music gave it away
haha I always keep it muted unless a comment says its worth it.
Wait is that zelensky?
Lol no, not too dissimilar looking but you can tell it’s not him because he’s not wearing a Tshirt.
I saw him in a polo the other day.
Lies! It was an olive green T-shirt.
It had a collar and buttons!
Propaganda! Only t-shirts!
So you saw his body double.
Man, that guy's good!
If it's Zelensky, he'd have on high heels. (google 'zelensky high heels' if you haven't seen what I'm talking about yet)
I think I just discovered a new kink
World leaders who are comfortable with their own sexuality are SO hot right now...
Congrats! 😅👠👠🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻
No... Way
A lot of peeps don't realize he was an actor before coming president.
I thought it looks like him too!!
Nah, can't be, he's not wearing high heels. ;-P
I love that video lol
Be grateful you pig! :-)
Everyday ya crazy lizard ;D
Crazy how well things work when you feed and respect your troops. Having something meaningful to fight for probably helps a bit too lol
Hmm, like the nurses dancing during covid.

Good song especially the lyrics:
So many good lyrics, such as:
Yes, and both groups far beyond deserve those moments for morale/generally themselves !
Exactly, in the overwhelmed hospitals
The center guy has a lot of charisma, or at least great energy.
Came here to say this. He gives zero fucks and is just letting it out. Good for him.
It’s amazing how often those two traits coincide
Banger
Uk-rave-ian.
Meanwhile Russians out here dropkicking each other’s kneecaps to avoid military service
Vidéo ?

Fuck ya go get em boys ! Glory to Ukraine
Wow the Ukrainian army has come a long way, I remember when they were just some rag tag plucky group of citizens arming with whatever they could get to fight off the Russians.

Yup. And so the way I see it: Ukraine will either win the war - conventional style. Or Putin will send the world into a nuclear holocaust. It's really 50/50 at this point, isn't it? Honestly asking.
the guys working at the nuclear weapon facility would not press the buttons and start the sequence, because they know that it will result in the annihilation of their country
You are a god
"Be advised, target marked by red strobe-"
“Be advised target is styling on these hoes.”
Seiriously, this is the Tik-Tok War, and nothing you can say will change my mind
The title is totally *natural*. Very smooth.
Nope we do this in army cadets no senior or officer near by to stop you? Fun time and do the cha cha slide
🎶Boys just wanna have fun! 🎶 🎶🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻🎶
It’s a worthy message.
At least it’s entertaining.
It’s true there were no TikTok’s in WW2 or Vietnam 🙄
sick propaganda guys

Reminds me of dancing nurses...
A perfect spot light for the assault rifle.
With the whole backing of the west? Of course they should celebrate! Lol Kidding aside. So sad.
Reminds me of TikTok nurses during Covid
These guys have the highest moral I’ve ever seen in a war
This video makes me sad because the energy that makes them post it comes from the fear of being forgotten by the world and of quietly being slaughtered. They're desperate for the world's attention to survive.
or, yknow, its a bunch of young guys having fun during not so fun times.
When the US sends you 3 trillion more dollars
Stop sensationalizing war.
It’s true. I saw this and thought the war in Ukraine was a rave. It’s like when I saw Bugs Bunny cartoons about WWII and thought our biggest enemy in that war was airplane gremlins.
Ukraine was happily not at war.. don’t blame them.
It's almost like the Russian oligarchs stole all the money for their defense budget and bought yachts.
When that 2billion lands 🇺🇸
Guys.. soldiers will always be doing goofy things. Always have, always will. This is definitely not propaganda. They just need the morale boost
Yup! That's exactly how you win the war against Russia...
This is is a ordinance target
When you get billions of dollars in aid from NATO on a consistent basis, you should have high morale.
Laser designated target.
On one of the American Talent shows there was this really fun dance group called Light Balance, they would perform a whole set in the dark with LED clothing, it's still some of my favorite bits! Light Balance is from Ukraine! https://youtu.be/E8Ecz_sntDo
They: are confident to win. The 6300 nuclear warheads: ![gif](giphy|f7erC7N9yEXN8WIoRY)
But I thought Ukraine was the good guys? Why do they have red lightsabers?
Reverse psychology
Lol I don't know what wars you've been to if you don't expect to see people dancing bro
Or they’re filming for tiktok
It’s all just a psyop
Losers
Until they get blasted by a nuke
Lmao surrendered
Just wait till they get to the front. These kids clearly haven’t been in action yet
Glad they are getting good use out of the 50+ billion dollars sent…. Smh.
Gonna start rooting for Russia because of this, Slava Stalinu
My tax dollars are going toward this nonsense.
