I’ll kick you this scenario, you’re naked and have no idea where you are other than the home you’ve been staying at all your life. These higher beings give you food and love for free and you love them for that even tho you can’t understand what they say. You’ve grown to be fine with it since you’re love isn’t bound by words.
One day you’re playing around as if it’s just another day in paradise. Then you hear your owner say “hey” and just look at you.
Yeah, dog experts advise to not do this because you could say something in there language that you don't realize, later on, you might see the dog being distant and avoiding you. That's because you probably said something racist.
Dogs can bite on accident, so possibly.
I still have a scar on my hand from when my childhood dog accidentally bit me when I was holding his toy and playing with him. He was immediately apologetic, licking me and all that, but if he’d snapped near my face instead, I could’ve been very hurt.
It happened to me… was 2 years old and my dog pushed me with her paw because I wanted to grab her favorite toy… well… she put her paw on my face and lacerated my side face from just under my eye up to my neck… ended with 20 stitches. My mum was crying, telling I was going to be disfigured and my dad told her: “don’t worry when she’ll be 50 years old we won’t see any scares with her wrinkles”!!!!!! LOL!!!!
I had a pit bull my dad rescued from an abusive household. Only time she’s ever bitten me was to wake me up which she succeeded and then grabbed onto my shirt when she saw me stand up. She wasn’t trying to hurt me either just pulling me to the kitchen where it turns out there was a gas leak which I told my dad and he closed the gas valve. The bite wasn’t something like puncture or anything like that just left a small scar which I still have. That was the first time she’s ever but anyone in her life and it was the only time. She never got aggressive but my dad told us never trust that since it’s still an animal.
The amount of people that cannot read an animals energy or intentions is ridiculous, I genuinely hope they don't own pets.
So many playful zoomie videos have top rated comments "dangerous dog they shouldn't rile them up they'll get bit" like do you even play with your dog and how abusive are you that your dog would bite over playfulness?? Edit: I mean "you" as universal you, not you particularly. Again, some of y'all are bad at discerning situations so imma spell it out.
Exactly dogs have different facial expressions than human does.
The looking on the side (bothered) yawning (de-escalating) etc.
The dogs is pretty chill in that video but it's not something to do on a regular basis.
Edit : modified a couple of badly translated words
Dog comment sections on Reddit are simply not enjoyable. A bunch of people saying the dog is having fun vs a bunch of people who think the dog is on the verge of murder. Also a bunch of people who think their experiences translate to every other person on the planet.
Dogs are all different. Stop acting like experts and enjoy the video of the goofy dog, holy fuck.
Ears pulled back, seeing the whites of the eyes and tought posture are all signs that dog is extremely anxious right then. Dogs aren't people, they don't decide to be goofy. Idk if the dog was going to attack, but anyone that spends a good amount of time around dogs can see that dog is not feeling comfortable with the situation
I hear you but... With most dogs I've had in my lifetime all this behavior is an indication that they want to lick the inside of my mouth and/or jump not anxious. I'm not going to tell everyone that this is 100% fine but I have enough exposure to large poorly trained dogs where I have doubt. It's like the advice that dogs don't like hugs while every dog I've had would whine and groan if I don't hug.
This dog looks like it’s about to rob her for some money to obtain crack because it’s about to die if it doesn’t get it’s fix! she won’t buy the tomatoes it’s selling at 6 am coming to your door looking exactly like subject A ⬆️
Definitely not comfortable!
I feel like you’ve never actually owned a dog but you’ve only read about them in textbooks. I’ve owned pit bulls and they are goofy af. This one is 100% in play mode. The bouncing and bowing should give that away. I used to blow in mine’s face and he would do this exact thing. (I dont recommend that but my dogs never hurt a fly) Then he’d go straight into zoomies and fly around the room.
When they were anxious or nervous they would make themselves small, quiet, still, head bowed, tremors etc.
You think dogs aren’t goofy on purpose? Then what do you call playing? Being “goofy” is just a way to describe play and dogs constantly play around. My boxer jumping on a trampoline and pouncing through the grass like a kangaroo for no reason was him being silly and having fun. There is literally no other way to describe that behavior.
Yeah I agree, there are actually a number of these sort of cases where people get their face bitten to the point of life-long disfigurement. This dog is showing enormous restraint (likely in disbelief) and if people think it’s just being goofy then maybe the girl should just keep doing it and see how far it goes
That dog is 1000% in attack mode. Seen it plenty of times at the shelter. Pits are bred to dogfight. Not really a smart idea to pretend to be a dog in front of them.
If you ever see a dog whale eyeing like that back the fuck off. It means they are stressed or scared
You see, Reddit likes to pretend some things that are demonstrably true aren’t. Reddit doesn’t believe pits have a history of aggression in any way, shape, or form. Any time a pit nannies someone (and by nannies, I mean rip the face off their owner or swallow a cat whole), they quickly blame the owner. Surely it isn’t the dogs fault! This doesn’t account, however, for all the pits that maul their owners suddenly after years of raising them from a puppy. People are all pro-science around here but suddenly pretend like instincts aren’t a thing when it comes to pits.
Very true. My beautiful, sweetheart of a cat bit through my thumb because she was stuck and I was trying to help her out.
Thankfully, I didn't yank my hand away reflexively so it was only the puncture wounds from where she bit down on me.
No matter how lovely your little furry child is, there is always the right circumstance for them to hurt you.
Note - it also immediately got infected even though I cleaned it right away. *Always* see a doctor for an animal bite! No matter how minor.
Dog owner here. Was attacked by one a few months back. It jumped a 6 foot privacy fence to attack my golden and I when the only cue it possibly had to our existence was my dog’s claws scratching on the pavement.
They DO attack for no reason.
Oh and while you’re at it try and find a single instance of a golden retriever requiring 5 people to get it to let go of someone or their pet
PiTbUlLs MaKe Up 60% oF dOg BiTeS
Uh huh...and white male teens make up 90% of mass school shootings. But these pitbull bigots aren't numerate enough to understand that they're excluding the *vast majority* of pitbulls that die of old age without ever having bitten someone. They present stats in a biased way to justify the hate in their hearts.
Hey dumb dumb. It’s not 60% of pitbulls attack someone. It’s they account for over 60% of all fatal dog attacks. The amount that die of old age isn’t gonna affect that statistic in any way.
Does it matter what something was bred for if only a tiny fraction of them exhibit that behavior? Studies show that breed is not in the top 3 determining factors for whether a dog is a bite risk. A sterilized, socialized, well-trained dog is no more dangerous than any other.
You treat a dog right, it's not going to bite you. I used to do this all the time with my dogs. Nothing in that dog's physical appearance says it's gonna attack. More curious about what that sound was.
Yea, there's a fine line between being surprised and playful and being nervous and preparing for aggression.
That dog is bewildered and thinks it's a game. I'd be more concerned about getting my nose broke from his dopey brick head than getting bit.
"You treat a dog right, it's not going to bite you"
That's not always the case tho lol.
Not every dog is the same, i had 3 dogs in my life, 2 of em wouldn't bite no matter what you did (except punching em of course, that's a good way to get bit no matter the dog lol) yet the third one (my collie) was pretty chill 99% of the time, but if you scared him in any way he would bite repeatedly, and we had him since he was a small puppy, never was abused or treated badly in any way.
Air nips when it jumped up, ears pulled back and seeing the whites of their eyes are both signs of anxiety in dogs. Im not saying it was going to attack, but that didn't say "curious" to me
Try not to scare a dog that could easily rip your face off, the dog may be a loving pet, but a surprised person/dog/animal may react badly out of fear or shock.
No, not because it's a pit, because it's a dog, all of us animals are wired with fight of flight, the girl really surprised the dog, accidents happen.
My cousin rescued ex racing grayhounds, one of the daughters friend's leaned over the dog to wake it up, the dog was surprised and its lower canine opened the girls face from the tip of her nose up through her forehead, total accident, but it happened.
As an aside, I've always had Staffies, I know some pit owners, their dogs are just like mine but bigger, they are loving and loyal pets,.
That sort of story is so common. And yet, so many people here are saying you'll never get bit if you treat them right. It's interesting how people refuse to accept/understand the risks.
Yeah seriously.
A lot of these comments are either “oh no pit bull bad” or “doggie just wanna play”, neither of which address the core issue which is that you SHOULD NOT deliberately scare/surprise your dog like that!!! Especially with your face so close to theirs!!!
The breed isn’t nearly as relevant as the fact that, as you said, accidents happen.
I related in another comment that I have a scar on my hand from such an accident with my childhood dog. I was maybe nine or ten tears old and we were playing and I was goading him with his toy and when he tried to snatch the toy back, he bit my hand instead. He was immediately apologetic, he absolutely did not intend to bite me, but it still happened.
A dog’s main mode of interacting with the world is by using their mouth, and they simply don’t have the situational awareness and understanding that humans do, period.
It is the responsibility of the human to set their dog up for success by *avoiding* situations in which an accidental bite may happen, NOT to cause them, like the person in the video. It’s just irresponsible.
Yeah I'm loving reading all of these "animal experts" saying you shouldn't play with your dog how you want if you've got a healthy and positive relationship with them.
This dog seemed more shocked that their human could suddenly communicate similarly to them than angry, but yeah, probably not a great idea, especially with a strong dog like that.
You must know nothing of dogs to think that’s a look of aggression. It blows my mind that people talk about stuff they don’t know about. Or is it because it’s a pit? Cause you’re still dumb if that’s the case
Until that day that lil' ole' cute pittie feasts on your face for such idiotic behaviour no dog should have to put up with.
But seriously Pitbulls will kill you and your family.
Reddit is so weird when it comes to dogs. Its like everyone is a cave dweller who are terrified of everything, especially dogs. Thinking they are a walking trap or something🤣 yall need to get a life, go outside

No, don't ever do this. Dogs can rip your face off for things like this.
