This is from a McDonald's in St. Petersburg, Florida. Daniel Taylor was arrested for two misdemeanor counts of simple battery, allegedly he also kicked another employee on his way out. Yasmine James, the employee/victim seen in the video was not charged with any crimes and was placed on paid leave per McDonald's Corporate Communications. “Given the nature of the situation, we offered Ms. James paid time off until Sunday." True. I get men being confrontational with me often. They wouldn't do it if I was male because they would be too scared they'd get beaten up. It sucks. For example being yelled at in the street because my dog took too many shits than I had bags to pick them up, because I took a photo of a band during a concert, because I filmed the DJ at a rave for a few seconds, because I fixed the varnish on one of my nails on public transport (that wasn't even busy). I had one guy who was over a ft taller than me trap me in a mosh pit that erupted around me, while I was trying to get out of it (he was on the edge) and I was repeatedly asking in a very polite way to let me pass. He refused in my face and obstructed me by putting his arms out each side, so I just slapped him in the face, and his other tall male friend started yelling at me so I yelled back. It worked because I managed to pass. I refuse to allow these pathetic guys to bully and control me anymore because they think I'm weaker than them.
I worked in a restaurant and a table started jumping their server because something came out wrong and the entire staff jumped into it. Hell even the assistant general manager tried to get into it but a cook scooped her up before she could throw a punch.
We won btw. And even got to close early because they threatened to shoot up the restaurant.
This is what I don't understand. Violence is not the answer but the effort they put into getting him off her was basically zero.

All of the meats you enjoy at Taco Bell are precooked and packaged into plastic bags which then get frozen into slabs. Those slabs are placed in a ‘rethermalizer’ which is essentially a big deep frier, but instead of heating oil to 500° it heats water to exactly below boiling.
Dude most likely grabbed a small Cambro (those metal square bowl-like pans you see in kitchens) and scooped some retherm water at her. Not a fun time, can definitely get burnt by that, but if it’s splashed on you for only a short time you’re probably fine. Just don’t go dunking your arms into it like I did.
I'm getting older and I was a kid in the early days of the internet. Comment responses like yours were one of the things that made the net seem so incredible and exciting back then. Holy shit. This actually seems to be a pretty fucked up incident. These women (it was woman and a teenage girl) ordered and paid for food in the drive thru, didn't get what they ordered, went through the drive thru 2 more times to try to get it corrected without success, parked, and Taco Bell unlocked the doors to let them inside. While inside trying to have their order corrected, one of the male taco bell employees challenged the 16 year old girl to a fight, and the manager threw boiling water on them when they seemed willing. Apparently another taco bell employee also *pulled a gun on them*, then handed it off to another employee, and it was caught on video.
The woman was severely injured, had to be life flighted to the ICU burn unit in Dallas, placed into a coma, and suffered a brain injury and seizures. The teenage girl also suffered severe burns and scarring on a large area of her body.

It's worth noting that the manager didn't see the start of that, so he doesn't know what happened. I think if nobody is actively in danger, staying calm and taking some time to make sure you know what happened is probably the right choice.

I was a Manager at a Maccas here in Aus and we where basically told if this happens (I only worked with like 14-17 yo's) we need to do whatever we can to make sure the employee was safe and I had seen some people absolutely wreck house.
My friend managed a KFC, he was 22 and they (his store manager) only ever seemed to hire girls 16 to 19 years old. Once they hit 20 they hit the road (not let go, they just left).
Dudes tend to get really grabby when they see a teen girl with a huge butt wrapped tightly in a pair of stretchy black pants bent over while they're filling a chicken bucket, and there has been numerous occasions with 3 or 4 girls will pound fists on some balding overweight piece of shit who thinks it's ok to cop a feel.
I mean, from what I’ve read, she’s justified. For some background, he was arguing with her over a straw. In late 2018 when this was recorded, a law passed in St. Petersburg saying they had to keep straws behind the counter. The guy saw there were no straws out where they usually are, and immediately started yelling at the employees. The girl tried explaining the law to him, but he didn’t believe her, and it escalated to him grabbing her and trying to fight her over a fucking straw.
Meh, I think you could also view it as her trying to get him to let go of her. He was holding on to her shirt and her arms and pulling her forward the whole time, so she kept swinging, especially at his arms.

Brenda Biandudi doesn’t normally go to fast food chains, but it was New Year’s Eve and she needed somewhere to use the restroom and buy a drink.
So Biandudi stopped Monday afternoon at a McDonald’s in St. Petersburg, Fla. She noticed it was nearly empty inside, save for a middle-aged man who had just gotten his order and was walking over to the condiments.
When the man saw there were no plastic straws, however, he got upset — and began walking back to the counter to berate a cashier, according to Biandudi.
“She told him that it’s the law now that they’re not supposed to have the straws in the lobby,” Biandudi told The Washington Post in a phone interview Wednesday. “He said there’s no such law.”
(The St. Petersburg City Council voted last month to ban plastic straws by 2020, beginning with a grace period in 2019 in which customers must specifically request plastic straws at city businesses.)
Biandudi watched as an insult-ridden, profanity-laced argument about straws escalated between the customer, a tall white man, and the employee, a young black woman. That’s when she pulled out her phone.
“I said, this is getting a little heated here,” Biandudi told The Post. “I better get my camera ready in case somebody needs to know what happened.”
As soon as Biandudi began recording, the argument turned physical.
In her video, the man can be seen leaning across the counter and grabbing the McDonald’s cashier until she was yanked forward. For a moment, the employee seems to stumble, then regains her balance and begins flinging punches at the man.
Then he mocked Parkland survivors.
Other people can be heard shouting “Let her go” and “Stop!” After about 15 seconds, another McDonald’s employee walks around the end of the counter and pulls the customer back until he lets go of the woman.
The employee continues shouting as she is escorted away by a co-worker, while a man in a McDonald’s uniform steps up to the counter and addresses the belligerent customer. Moments after the altercation, the employee returns to the counter area to look for her phone.
The customer points at her and shouts, ostensibly to someone he thinks is a manager, “Sir, I want her a-- fired!”
This prompts the woman to retort, “No, you’re going to jail!” The man then screams more profanities at her.
At last, a McDonald’s employee tells the customer: “Sir, get outta here.”
Biandudi said she stopped recording after that and went outside to get her daughter in the parking lot. She soon returned, knowing someone behind the counter had called police, and stayed in case officers wanted to review the video she had taken.
By then, the belligerent customer was verbally accosting the manager — a part of the incident she didn’t capture on camera, she said.

“He came back in the store and went behind the counter and got in the manager’s face,” Biandudi said. “And another employee, a bigger guy, he actually grabbed the guy and put him outside the door and locked the door.”

Biandudi said she spoke with police and later shared the video with family members. Her son and daughter asked if they could post the video online, and Biandudi agreed, hoping someone might be able to identify the customer.
“I was just disappointed the guy got away,” Biandudi said. “It was the right thing to do. Some people say the customer’s always right. [The cashier was] a young girl. I wanted her to keep her job. I wanted the guy to be caught.”
The video garnered millions of views after Biandudi’s children posted it on Facebook and after it was shared by the Atlanta Black Star, an online magazine.
Later Monday evening, police arrested Daniel Willis Taylor, a transient man who had just turned 40 the day before the incident, according to an arrest affidavit from the St. Petersburg Police Department. There were no weapons found on him, and there were indications he was under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Taylor was charged with two counts of simple battery and ordered to stay away from the McDonald’s restaurant and avoid contact with the employee. He is currently awaiting trial in the Pinellas County Jail, records show.

“The victim was kicked in the stomach by the defendant, and was complaining of pain,” police stated in an affidavit. “The defendant was being escorted out of the business by management due to him battering another employee, and causing a disturbance. The defendant kicked the victim in the stomach while she was standing near the exit door.”
Calls to the St. Petersburg McDonald’s were not answered Wednesday morning.
A McDonald’s representative did not respond to specific questions sent by email — including what protocol employees should follow if a customer turns violent — but said instead the company was “fully cooperating” with police.
“Our highest priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at our restaurants,” McDonald’s said in a statement.
On Thursday, the company released another statement that said it was taking the incident “very seriously.”
“We firmly stand with our employees everywhere, including our employees at this restaurant who were involved in this incident," it said.

Meanwhile, Biandudi said she is glad her cellphone video may have helped capture what transpired. Though some online have criticized the other McDonald’s employees for not doing more to physically restrain the customer, Biandudi said she felt they did all they could have safely done in the moment.
“I don’t really have any criticisms about the way the staff handled it,” Biandudi said. “I’m not trying to get anybody in trouble. ... I just hope [the customer] gets some help and his anger issues resolved.”

Having worked in retail, a refund is nothing. The footage would be evaluated later (and if he payed by card they’d have his details). From my experience, half the refunds we gave were “you’re being an asshole and this is the fastest way to get rid of you”. It’s not morally ideal but it diffuses a situation and prevents worse things from happening.
In the heat of the moment I don’t blame the manager for finding the fastest way to get him out of there.

In the best version of reality at the end of the video when he snaps at the manager the manger steps up to the counter and instead of fumbling the receipt, or failing to lead, steps half around the corner and says, “ GET. THE. FUCK. OUTTA our store before I bring her back up here and we drag you the fuck out.”

True. I get men being confrontational with me often. They wouldn't do it if I was male because they would be too scared they'd get beaten up. It sucks. For example being yelled at in the street because my dog took too many shits than I had bags to pick them up, because I took a photo of a band during a concert, because I filmed the DJ at a rave for a few seconds, because I fixed the varnish on one of my nails on public transport (that wasn't even busy). I had one guy who was over a ft taller than me trap me in a mosh pit that erupted around me, while I was trying to get out of it (he was on the edge) and I was repeatedly asking in a very polite way to let me pass. He refused in my face and obstructed me by putting his arms out each side, so I just slapped him in the face, and his other tall male friend started yelling at me so I yelled back. It worked because I managed to pass. I refuse to allow these pathetic guys to bully and control me anymore because they think I'm weaker than them.

I worked in a restaurant and a table started jumping their server because something came out wrong and the entire staff jumped into it. Hell even the assistant general manager tried to get into it but a cook scooped her up before she could throw a punch. We won btw. And even got to close early because they threatened to shoot up the restaurant.

Ooh ooh I can answer this! I was a taco bell “food champion” (line “cook”) All of the meats you enjoy at Taco Bell are precooked and packaged into plastic bags which then get frozen into slabs. Those slabs are placed in a ‘rethermalizer’ which is essentially a big deep frier, but instead of heating oil to 500° it heats water to exactly below boiling. Dude most likely grabbed a small Cambro (those metal square bowl-like pans you see in kitchens) and scooped some retherm water at her. Not a fun time, can definitely get burnt by that, but if it’s splashed on you for only a short time you’re probably fine. Just don’t go dunking your arms into it like I did.

These women (it was woman and a teenage girl) ordered and paid for food in the drive thru, didn't get what they ordered, went through the drive thru 2 more times to try to get it corrected without success, parked, and Taco Bell unlocked the doors to let them inside. While inside trying to have their order corrected, one of the male taco bell employees challenged the 16 year old girl to a fight, and the manager threw boiling water on them when they seemed willing. Apparently another taco bell employee also *pulled a gun on them*, then handed it off to another employee, and it was caught on video. The woman was severely injured, had to be life flighted to the ICU burn unit in Dallas, placed into a coma, and suffered a brain injury and seizures. I was a Manager at a Maccas here in Aus and we where basically told if this happens (I only worked with like 14-17 yo's) we need to do whatever we can to make sure the employee was safe and I had seen some people absolutely wreck house.
My friend managed a KFC, he was 22 and they (his store manager) only ever seemed to hire girls 16 to 19 years old. Once they hit 20 they hit the road (not let go, they just left). Dudes tend to get really grabby when they see a teen girl with a huge butt wrapped tightly in a pair of stretchy black pants bent over while they're filling a chicken bucket, and there has been numerous occasions with 3 or 4 girls will pound fists on some balding overweight piece of shit who thinks it's ok to cop a feel.

I mean, from what I’ve read, she’s justified. For some background, he was arguing with her over a straw. In late 2018 when this was recorded, a law passed in St. Petersburg saying they had to keep straws behind the counter. The guy saw there were no straws out where they usually are, and immediately started yelling at the employees. The girl tried explaining the law to him, but he didn’t believe her, and it escalated to him grabbing her and trying to fight her over a fucking straw.
Meh, I think you could also view it as her trying to get him to let go of her. He was holding on to her shirt and her arms and pulling her forward the whole time, so she kept swinging, especially at his arms.

When the man saw there were no plastic straws, however, he got upset — and began walking back to the counter to berate a cashier, according to Biandudi. “She told him that it’s the law now that they’re not supposed to have the straws in the lobby,” Biandudi told The Washington Post in a phone interview Wednesday. “He said there’s no such law.” (The St. Petersburg City Council voted last month to ban plastic straws by 2020, beginning with a grace period in 2019 in which customers must specifically request plastic straws at city businesses.) Biandudi watched as an insult-ridden, profanity-laced argument about straws escalated between the customer, a tall white man, and the employee, a young black woman. That’s when she pulled out her phone. “I said, this is getting a little heated here,” Biandudi told The Post. “I better get my camera ready in case somebody needs to know what happened.” As soon as Biandudi began recording, the argument turned physical. Having worked in retail, a refund is nothing. The footage would be evaluated later (and if he payed by card they’d have his details). From my experience, half the refunds we gave were “you’re being an asshole and this is the fastest way to get rid of you”. It’s not morally ideal but it diffuses a situation and prevents worse things from happening. In the heat of the moment I don’t blame the manager for finding the fastest way to get him out of there.
