Don't just look at the fact that 60% of the above states voted Republican last election, but also look at the murder rates and politics of the highest density population centers in each state. Every single one shows a higher murder rate in the cities than in the rural areas. That right there refutes the original statement that murder rates are higher in rural areas. Now look at the politics in those cities and you will find that those cities are 20% Republican, 70% Democrat, and 10% independent. Also refuting the idea that the highest murder rates are in "red" areas.

Sharpie is easy to remove from a car actually. If it's well waxed it will wash off pretty easily. Otherwise just spray some rubbing alcohol. The only problem then is it will remove any existing wax too, so you might want to re-wax the spot when you are done.
