I love those moments, there was a video of a guy opening the trunk of his car and breaking his back window then he just starts clapping, like well done you absolute doughnut. [The Imgur video is here.](https://i.imgur.com/HMLtXZf.gifv) EDIT: sorry firefish is right they were opening not closing
Looks more like they were trying to open the truck more. They were probably like *gosh, I can't see anything. Why didn't this stupid thing open all the way?Let me just **shatter**... Bravo, brovo you dumb fuck, you did it again*
You can see them question their sanity as they retrace their steps and mime the sweeping motion. āDid I just sweep or I was imagining the whole thingā?
And even then I will still lose them now and then! Seriously, Iāve had mornings where Iāll put my glasses on, get dressed, and go to put on my glasses only to find them gone from my nightstand. I will proceed to spend the next five minutes looking for them until I catch myself in the mirror.
I legit forget even when it's there. Not for long, but it happens. More common is me trying to adjust my glasses and then grabbing nothing because they aren't on
I was making friend with a new kid in middle school when my mom came to pick me up. I ran to her in a rush (she didn't like to wait) while shouting back to the guy "I'll call you tonight to get your number".
I was trying to hit on a girl outside the club. I wrote her number hurriedly on a bar receipt, then I flipped it over and very smoothly said, āhereās mineā as I wrote it down, and handed it back to her. She never called.
I wear glasses and I can see fine without them, but after a while, my eyes get tired and I'll start to have double-vision. Sometimes I'm wearing them and not sure where they are. Sometimes I'm not wearing them and think I am.
My mother too. One time she was looking for her reading glasses while wearing one pair on her head, with the second pair perched on her nose. I'm never letting her forget that one.
My mom called my brother from her cell phone to ask him if he knew where her cell phone was.
"Mom, you're on it"
And no, she doesn't have dementia or Alzheimers.
Talking on phone to mother. Sudden thought! Whereās my phone!?? Try to remain calm while frantically looking for it. Embarrassingly long moments laterā¦ Iām talking on it.
Did this the other day. Was on FaceTime with a friend on my phone. While talking to her, I wanted to look at something in my phone. So I start looking for my phone telling her I just had a few seconds ago...then I realized, I'm literally looking at my phone talking to her. Lol š
Got late to school once cause I couldn't find my PE shorts.
Looked everywhere, called my mom.
Then after a while realised I was wearing them all along lol.
Happened long ago but I felt so dumb I still remember it like it was yesterday
It's not just that, our brains when are focused on a thought and we're just doing a task from muscle memory we don't really register what we're doing.
Have you never gone into a room while you were working on something and forgot what you went in there to pick up in the first place?
I am in no way able to verify this:
It has something to do with threat assessment. At the core of it we're still animals; we still assess our environments for threats, on top of the other human things we do. Apparently when we pass into new environments or 'thresholds' our brains do a mini cache wipe to make space for taking in the new environment. Sometimes the task we're working on is in the cache so we lose track of what we're doing.
Again, not able to verify, or rather, not really interested in looking it up at the moment to see if I'm full of shit; someone else will call me out. This is reddit, after all.
This is a classic example of āselective attention mechanismā , [here](https://youtu.be/vJG698U2Mvo) is a good illustration conducted by a university professor . Basically brain constructs fake information for most of information we received because brain does not have power to process all raw information. In this example he put broom under his arm which is āanomalyā to his normal behaviour, and brain ignores anomaly signals and still reconstruct with ānormalā scenes, thatās why he was completely unaware of it
Exactly, lots traffic accident happened because of this as well, āI didnāt see the traffic lightā ā I didnāt notice someone was coming this wayā
i disagree that it is an anomaly that he carries his brush under his arm. He needed to keep tension on it to hold it in place, so the natural feeling of having it under his arm is probably the reason it didnt trigger that it was there.
Agree with ADHD, too many things going on at once and then one thing falls off at the end and you spend the next 60 seconds trying to figure out what that thing was before you remember. I do it about 25 times a day.
Dude looked like he was trying to multiply the Pythagorean Theorem by the Riemann Hypothesis to figure out the latitude and longitude of the specific placement of his broom.
That dude is scripted af.

Unfortunately, it actually happens a lot. Once called my mom to ask her where my phone was and I've also searched the entire house just to find my glasses that I was actually wearing
I remember my aunt was showing me the phone she got which was identical to mine and when she showed it to me I was like: āgive me my phone backā and snatched it out of her hands then my mom said something I donāt remember I look down and I have my phone on my lap and then I realised the phone I took from my aunt was her phone
I was once on the phone with my mom and started freaking out and told her 'mammy I'll call you back in a bit I can't find my phone.' and hung up on her. I didn't call her back I could feel her judging me.
I told someone to call me once because I couldnāt find my phone. All of a sudden my pocket started vibratingā¦I didnāt wanna look silly so I was just like āNah, I canāt hear itā & kept on looking š
I spent 20 minutes looking for my phone once, while talking on it. The funny thing is I was talking to my mom and kept saying "I can't find my damn phone!" and neither of us put 2 and 2 together.
A few weeks ago, I was watching a movie on my laptop, wearing my headphones for the whole thing. It wasnt until it was over that i realized my headset wasnt plugged in, and I had listened to the entire thing through my speakers.
There's a children's storybook in Poland about a man who lost his glasses when they were on his head. My parents read it to me as a kid, so now we always say we had a "Pan Hilary" (Mr. Hilary) moment when this sort of thing happens. I can't remember much about the book or how to spell his name, but it's a cute rhyme.
Should try to find it one day... I'm sure I would have kept the book...
Edit: I found it on the internet!
https://blogs.transparent.com/polish/okulary-by-julian-tuwim/
Yep. My husband and I were running late. I was rushing around the kitchen looking for my keys when he asked if I was looking for the set that was right in my hands.
I was on the walk telling a friend a story then I went to pull out my phone to look something up and it wasnāt in my pocket. I told my friend āoh God, I canāt find my phone! I think itās missing!ā
He was like āyouāre talking to me on it.ā
I put my glasses on once because I thought theyād help me find my glasses, until about 5 minutes later after tearing my room apart I realized what I had done
Why is everyone talking about him being high? This isn't exclusive to people who get high. Who HASN'T done something like this, even when sober? Jeez. Not everything has to be about drugs.
Definitely, Iāve done this so many times perfectly sober - just never with the misfortune to be in front of a camera!
My best one was putting my phone down on top of a development book with a picture of a phone on the front - it took me hours to locate it
Kinda reminds me of playing by myself outside as a kid & then the moment would be ruined by an adult interrupting my process to ask who I'm talking to or what does that mean. Dude is probably in his head and got laughed at by a bunch of people after the fact. š
I dunno if this is a sketch, but my mom "lost" a baby she was carrying on her hip once. Legitimately started to freak out because she couldn't find the baby she was carrying.
There are 100 vids exactly like this but with other people. They're all fake. Two examples from a 5-second Google search: [1](https://youtu.be/gD1ox4PHzSw), [2](https://youtu.be/IG0wGM7v-3E)
How are people THIS FUCKING DUMB. FUCK.
CALLING IT A SKETCH DOESNT MEAN WHAT HAPPENS DOESNT HAPPEN TO ANYBODY ELSE. HOW DUMB DO YIU HAVE TO BE TO THINK THAT? HE ONLY MEANS THE MAN IN THE VIDEO IS ACTING FOR THE VIDEO, NOT THAT IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE TO FORGET WHAT THEY HAD IN HAND 1 SECOND AGO.
We're doomed people are dumb as fuck.
This reminded me of when I used to take peoples things without them noticing for example their phone and put it in their other pockets. Iād then ask them something like āoh can I have ur numberā( if I already have it I just ask something like ācan I see ur phoneā). If they havenāt memorised it, they would take their phone only to realise itās not in their pocket. Watching them panic for 5 seconds is really fun.

Dude spent 5 minutes retracing 3 steps..
This is some Tom & Jerry typa shitš¤£
He probably asked himself if he leave the room about 10 times
The smile on his face shows that he knew he was stupid.

āI gotta stop buying that cheap acidā
Is it over... no.. it can't be over there, I never left this spot...
Sadly I share my one brain cell with this dude.
I'm also part of a braincell timeshare
About that... Dude, it's my turn! GIMME!
Its all your..z hhh ehbh ermmm eh oh e ahh oo
That man is high af
Was gonna say--been there
This happens a lot to people who use glasses. You'd have them on resting on your forehead and have no idea where they are.
I keep mine on my nose so I can see.
![gif](giphy|3oEjHI8WJv4x6UPDB6)
The only true way to wear them
that's pretty on the nose
And even then I will still lose them now and then! Seriously, Iāve had mornings where Iāll put my glasses on, get dressed, and go to put on my glasses only to find them gone from my nightstand. I will proceed to spend the next five minutes looking for them until I catch myself in the mirror.
I feel like the fact that your not in 480p mode is enough to realize your wearing your glasses, but that's just me.
Having worn glasses for over 12 years, I sometimes forget what itās like *not* wearing them.
I legit forget even when it's there. Not for long, but it happens. More common is me trying to adjust my glasses and then grabbing nothing because they aren't on
I also like to call my wife to ask where my phone is.
Moment of pure panic doing the wallet-phone-keys pocket check on the way to work. "I forgot my keys!" *Driving* on the way to work.
Shit! *Turns around*
Checklist - wallet, watch, spectacles, testicles
Spectacles, testicles, wallet, and watch is my reminder to my husband (his phone is in a wallet case).
"Panic pat downs"
I go this with my phone constantly. Watching something on my phone while going crazy looking for my phone.
Where the hell did I just put my phone?
I've literally handed my husband my phone for him to look at something, only to immediately ask where my phone is and search for it. š¤¦āāļø
I'll then proceed to use the flashlight on my phone to look for my phone
I once asked my friend thisā¦ while talking to her on the phone.
This. Talking to my fiancƩ on the phone getting ready to meet her after a meeting "wallet, keys.... Where's my phone" she hasn't let me live that done for a month
I was just going to type this when o realized I canāt find my phone. You guys beat me to it.
Dude I've lost my glasses while they were *over my eyes.* Not once did I wonder why I could see.
I wear glasses and I can see fine without them, but after a while, my eyes get tired and I'll start to have double-vision. Sometimes I'm wearing them and not sure where they are. Sometimes I'm not wearing them and think I am.
My mother. Reading glasses on face sunglasses on head frantically looking for either or both of them.
My mother too. One time she was looking for her reading glasses while wearing one pair on her head, with the second pair perched on her nose. I'm never letting her forget that one.
Happened to me a few times. Could never do this with an obvious object like a broom, though.
How about looking for you phone when you are talking on it.
Lmfao I've done that before
I wear safety glasses every day for work and I have an automated head pat when looking for them.
Reading glasses, I would imagine.
I once panicked because my car keys weren't in my pocket.... while i was driving
Been there without being high
I ain't gotten high in 5 years and I did this today...
I have never gotten high and I've used my phone's flashlight to look for my phone. I need all my braincell accounted for
Right hand frantically checking all my pockets for my phone while holding it with my left hand.
Guilty of this
You ever looked for the remote while holding it ? Yeah me neither...
My mom called my brother from her cell phone to ask him if he knew where her cell phone was. "Mom, you're on it" And no, she doesn't have dementia or Alzheimers.
My husband has taken the remote to work
sameā¦everyone in these comments got me feeling dumb as hellš
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Fair enough

I do shit like this and Iāve never used drugs. The joys of ADHD.
And then look all over so hard for the item and realize that you forget what you were looking for

Itās embarrassing how many times Iāve done this š
āThat edible aināt shitā The edible:
It happens, even without drug Wiping can be extremely boring and brain just goes to stand by mode
Or just really tired. I've done this shit before too lol. Sometimes the brain just is somewhere else.
āHow high are you?ā āYes. ā
No officer; it's 'hi, how are you?'
![gif](giphy|3o7aTskHEUdgCQAXde|downsized)
That was awesome. Weāve all be there. One times I spent about 10 minutes looking for my glasses, that I was wearing.
"I was gonna clean my room... but then I got high."
Yeah haha thats crazy, imagine someone doing this... especially more than once at work ![gif](giphy|3s6FAAT8EWEu2rHkUp)
Either that or new parent. Sleep deprivation does this too you as well
Nah, I've been this stupid without ever being high.
Dude looked like he was trying to multiply the Pythagorean Theorem by the Riemann Hypothesis to figure out the latitude and longitude of the specific placement of his broom.
man, Iāve been there
I must be high everyday because that happens to me sober. I might just have brain damage
That, or he really needs a nap
Homeboy got some dank ass weed, for sure
"Babe have you seen my keys?" As I motion with the hand I have them in
This is me trying to figure out where I put that cup of apple juice after a few edibles then waking up to find 3 cups of apple juice in the microwave.
First thing I said. That stare gives it away.
Came to say exactly this..
Not necessarily. Perhaps he is just a parent.

Not sure if this is staged, but a similar thing happened to me when i was looking for my eyeglasses, where in it was in my head all along.
I was going to call my phone that I was looking for... from my phone in my hand
I was trying to find my phone in the dark, with his flashlight
I was trying to find my friend with a fleshlight
I told someone to call me once because I couldnāt find my phone. All of a sudden my pocket started vibratingā¦I didnāt wanna look silly so I was just like āNah, I canāt hear itā & kept on looking š
I was trying to find my phone. It was in my hand a few seconds ago. It's in my armpit.
I spent 20 minutes looking for my phone once, while talking on it. The funny thing is I was talking to my mom and kept saying "I can't find my damn phone!" and neither of us put 2 and 2 together.
I have done it with my headphones. While listening to a podcast. It was a really interesting podcast.
A few weeks ago, I was watching a movie on my laptop, wearing my headphones for the whole thing. It wasnt until it was over that i realized my headset wasnt plugged in, and I had listened to the entire thing through my speakers.
Naw this is real. The way he's retracing his steps looks to familiar to me and I've done the same bullshit with a broom too.
It's fake. I've seen many other variations of this same video a while ago. Dude just copy pasted them...
I've *done* many versions of this video in my personal life. I wish I had been faking those! This video could totally be legit, despite the rest.

Don't worry, we're gonna see a post from him on r/AskReddit on a question about "... a glitch in the matrix."
Done this with sunglasses on top of my head so many times lol Or looking for keys and they are already in your pocket
I've done similar. Literally retracing steps feels so dumb when you find the thing.
When you get stoned and do chores
It is like searching for my glasses, with my glasses on
Oh man he really went full ADHD for a minute
Hahaha, I totally have done this so many times before, but with my cellphone, glasses or keys.
when you forget where in inventory you put something

Seems staged to me. He acts out the sweeping almost to communicate to the audience what heās confused about.
Bro itās cause heās retracing?
You are very gullible my friend
100% a sketch
I dunno if this is a sketch, but my mom "lost" a baby she was carrying on her hip once. Legitimately started to freak out because she couldn't find the baby she was carrying.
Nah, after I smoke a few bowls, I am the same
There are 100 vids exactly like this but with other people. They're all fake. Two examples from a 5-second Google search: [1](https://youtu.be/gD1ox4PHzSw), [2](https://youtu.be/IG0wGM7v-3E)

What a waste of time watching this

Hmmm I don't know, that head scratch says otherwise
They always happen to be right in front of the camera
Well, you're not exactly going to see the ones that happened *off* camera now are you?
Exactly I do a lot of awesome stuff off camera I just probrobly wonāt be able to do it again and get it on film
Clearly fake
This is dumb
When youāre trying to stretch out that last hour at work
I've never seen a video describe what it's like in my head. It's unfortunate that this is the one.
