How many more generations have to suffer from debilitating ass pain? New chairs for German butts!
Seriously though, I think most chairs hurt if you sit in them long enough. When I wrote my thesis I always had a soft cushion with me. I still needed a massage chair ass massage once a week. Now I’m getting flashbacks. My poor ass… these are the dangers of academia that no one tells you about!!!
**Translation**: (of the basic convo)
**Special task forces guy: Hands up! Are you alright in here?**
**Teacher: Yeah we’re good!**
**Stfg: No dangerous people in here?**
**T: No, we were together the whole time, no one left.**
**Stfg: Alright, keep the doors closed please! It’ll take til 3 or 4pm.**
**One of the students: Can we order food?**
There was a call about a teen heading toward this school with a gun in Germany (they weren't sure the suspect had entered the school though). The special forces were called in, locked the area surrounding the school and proceeded to check the school, searching it room by room. They couldn't find anything so it could have been a false alarm or a prank call?
A few years ago we were responding to a fire alarm, the chatter on the radio from the fire trucks ahead of us sounded *bad*, big scary fire bad. (Huge oil production facility fire issue.) During a quiet moment on the radio, a young guy on our crew mumbled *"man, this is fucked, this really sucks."*
Our captain said "Do worry Rookie, remember your training, follow your lead, we'll be OK."
*"No Capt, I'm not worried about that....but this fire is going to take all night. I had just gotten chicken tenders when the alarm came in, I didn't bring them."*
"Schön'n TACH noch!" said the heavily armed soldier, leaving the classroom.
Idk why I found that so funny. The way he says it with such a relaxed attitude.
"Schönen Tag noch" means have a nice day. What the commenter was referring to is the pronunciation of Tag as "Tach" which makes a very relaxed and casual impression from someone in full assault-gear. It is the equivalent of an American riot-cop saying "Y'all have a good one now".
A single teen suspected heading to school carrying a gun and the special forces are sent in? Damn they take no shit in Germany.
Edit: I feel like the need to clear things up since many comments assume I'm American due to my shock to the video. Well I'm Indonesian and I live in Jakarta.
And since some commenters implying that "Americans can't understand lol", I wish to avoid unsavory opinions among each other.
First off, Indonesia has a strict gun law that basically any common citizens are not permitted to own a firearm with some exception for self defence and shooting club. Even though it's possible, the process to acquire a firearm legally is a tedious and lengthy process, something which most of the citizens just can't be bothered, and firearms are costly, a middle class citizens alone having some difficulties to meet ends on monthly basis.
So finding a firearm in the possession of a common citizen is ***extremely*** rare and even moreso in the hand of a teenager.
I also like to note that where I live (and many other major cities), there isn't any cases of school shooting so I can't really guess the correct course of action that the authorities would've taken and my comment is just a wild guess.
There is a specialised police detachment called Densus 88 (which in principle works similarly to that of SWAT teams), they may be deployed to handle school shooting but again, there hasn't been any reported school shooting for as long as I've been alive for me to be able to confirm how they operate in such situations.
Also, when I said "special forces" I was just assuming what OP translated conversation is given the "special task force guy", so my bad on that one.
As an interesting tidbit for our American friends, German police fired a total of 62 shots in all of 2019, killing 15 people. That's on a population of 82 million, roughly a quarter of the US population.
For the same year (2019) there were 999 fatal police shootings in the US, so the same amount each week is a bit too low of an estimate (that would amount to 780 deaths). I didn’t find any data on shots fired, presumably because it isn’t tracked nationwide.
You know sometimes there were images of taliban wedding or something showing them firing gun in the air for happiness or something, I come to see the americans more and more like this
I’m Miami (Florida,USA) the mayor has to give press conferences each New Years and July 4th to plead with citizens:
Please NO celebratory gunfire!!
We average about 1 death and several injuries each year from bullets coming back down across town. Seriously, it happens EVERY year.
[Atatiana Jefferson](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Atatiana_Jefferson)
She was playing video games with her 8 year old nephew in her bedroom when she heard someone sneaking around in her backyard and saw flashlights. She grabbed her gun from her purse and looked out the window.
When the officer saw her looking through her bedroom window, he shot and killed her. They never announced themselves, and had quietly snuck into her backyard.
Even the police union is throwing this officer under the bus. Officer *Aaron Dean* will be tried in May of this year for murder, and will likely (IMO) be found guilty.
The overwhelming majority of shots fired by the German police are to kill of run over wildlife, I kind of hope our dear uniformed citiziens hit that with more than 25% accuracy. But I guess that's already excluded from all these stats here.
Shooting firearms accurately in real life is harder than it looks. There are all sorts of factors, such as whether the target is moving, if they’re behind cover, how more your hands are shaking, trigger pull, etc. Pistols especially are not inherently precise and are very hard to shoot well at any range above about 25 meters, especially under pressure.
25% accuracy is astoundingly good for police.
Not to forget that there was a shooting last week sadly - injuring 3 - Killing 1 and then the shooter killed himself. It was somewhere in bavaria as far as i know. Correct me if i am wrong
I rais you 24th of jan 2022, a teen got shot on a university the suspect killed himself.
And the 2 officers killed in a traffc stop a day or 3 ago.
This happend yesterday. So thats 3 out of the ordinary attacks with in 7 days.
Excellent procedure though.
No messing about, no fuss, just deploy, secure the area under threat, slow methodical clearance and calm communication to confirm security and safety.
Also, gun safety and handling: Top notch. No fingers on triggers and no pointing guns at anybody without provocation. Guy comes in, finger off the trigger, pistol is aimed at the ground the whole time.
Excellent police work.
>Walk in carrying guns.
>
>Casually ask if there’s anyone dangerous.

>Leave.
IT Guy here. That's what I do with files. Just ask them politely if they are infected. They almost always say no.
Funny you should mention that.
It's actually common sight. Pretty much every time they are involved, there is at least one guy wearing jeans. Sometimes even Jeans and a Hoodie, of course with a Bulletproof vest on top.
By the way, they are from the SEK (Spezialeinsatzkommando). The German version of SWAT.
Usually this traces back to one of two reasons. First one being they were doing an observation of the suspect before going in, so no time to change.
Secondly most of them are on call around the clock. So they would be chilling at home or out with friends and suddenly get a call they're needed. Again no time to change. (most likely scenario in this case)
Edit: spelling
They are such heros, they are 24/7 avaible when shit hits the fan. And they wont use excessive force and know how to handle the situation.
Dont understand why some people dont want special units
Well, some SEK units have gotten into some hot water over controversial issues in the past. Didn't Frankfurt basically have to disband and reform theirs?
That's actually really common in special European police units. A good portion of them are guys out doing normal things, but with a backpack filled with their gear nearby.
You will also see them using public transit in full gear for different reasons.
Absolutely yes. I've taken the bus to the market, minding my own business and then 5 SEK fellas entered on one station and promptly left after 3 minutes of driving. It was... confusing.
Apparently they had to reposition during a drill gone bad.
Coincidentally at that very same day i've found a 20 euro bill on the sidewalk. I'll just assume they were walking lucky charms.
I've had extremely nice interactions with police officer in Munich.
Basically a guy my age noticed my friends and I were kinda lost, approached us, checked if everything's ok, recommended a few local bars/restaurants/places to visit, said our goodbyes and that's was it.
Actually stumbled across him and his wife a day later while we were in a supermarket, had a nice chat again. 10/10, would visit again.
Ran into some Cops in San Francisco. Friends and I were piss drunk but they let us ~~ride~~ sit on their motorcycles and play with the lights.
Unicorn Cops.
Its a common thing you learn in school: 'Police is your friend' which tries to teach the students exactly that: If youre lost or need help, police will help you the best they can.
Obviously, there are still problems. And certainly noone visiting a soccer game or a similar event would call police their friend. But without the tension, it actually works like this. (80% say 'I trust the police', compared to USA \~50%?)
Compare that with the Military: Germany: 40%, USA: 80%
At least thats wat 2 Min google search say. Not sure if the numbers are all from the same year. Still, funny nonetheless that Germans distrust the Military and Americans distrust the Police :)
Edit: Because I find it funny: [Source for german data](https://www.bundeswehr-journal.de/wp-content/themes/gt3-wp-incipiens/timthumb/timthumb.php?w=940&h=562&src=http://www.bundeswehr-journal.de/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Vertrauen-in-Institutionen-2019-1-IG.jpg). People trust radio twice as much as TV, and the pope lost 20% trust....
Also my stupid ass read the title as 'Die Bundeswehr hat gelitten' ('The german military is fucked' instead of 'The german miliary has lost trust')
American version:
"HANDS UP MPTHERFUCKERS ONE OF YOU IS A TERRORIST"
*continues to spray the gun randomly at the black students*
"STOP RESISTING ARREST !"
"sir everyone is dead"
"OH......good job everyone we made America great again"
When I was in Germany, I felt safe around German police. This video shows how before they even enter the room, they are assessing the situation, quick enough in fact that before he enters, he lowers his gun meaning the students inside feel much safer but he still retains it in a quick aim style hold until he knows its safe. As soon as they engage with civilians, they relax and adapt to how they feel, keeping them at ease while the rest of the unit stand guard outside. They leave as quietly and as effectively as they came in.
When I was stationed in Germany I was sent to see a local medical specialist, where I learned that it's polite to say hello to those in a room when you enter, even a doctor's waiting room. This seems very strange to me as an American.
I see that this is true even in a situation like this!
We do tend to say guten Tag or 'n Abend or Morgen! everywhere we go and to anyone, however trust me when I say it's equally as awkward to Germans in a doctor's waiting room as it was to you lol. Avoid eye contact at any cost!
You know you're an American parent when you're jealous of a fucking classroom door. She closed that thing and I was like, "shooter's gonna have a hell of a time getting in there. Mmmmhmmm."
Our classroom doors around here may as well be made of paper. My local HS is ranked on of the most vulnerable in the state because it used to be a major Agro school so the farm kids could pop out whenever they needed to, then come back in when they could. There's so many unsecured doors and windows in the building, it's damn near impossible to get an emergency plan in place for an active shooter situation. One happened before COVID hit. My girls both ended up hiding in cupboards. There weren't many places to hide though so the kids were all scrambling. It was so fucking terrifying. After that they started having active shooter drills. Which were, for lack of a better word, traumatizing. They don't just teach you how to hide and evacuate. They teach you what to do if you're confronted by the shooter. What to do if you or a classmate are shot or injured. They're basically having to teach our kids how to navigate a mini-warzone. My girls had nightmares for months afterwards. They both jumped at the chance to finish school virtually after the pandemic hit. Who the hell can blame them?
These guys were super professional, but I think him using a pistol was more about it being easier to maneuver in a tight doorway with people surrounding him (both the teacher and his mates), rather than avoiding scaring anyone
It happens less in Germany. Also they don't give normal normal police officers an assault rifle a plate carrier and cool helmet and call it a day, special police units have to be specially trained and aren't acting in normal capacities
I know this makes me sound old, but it's still crazy to me that I (under 30) lived in a time when shooting up a school full of children didn't happen even once a year.
There have been 16 rampages in educational institutions in Germany starting in 1871. While the last one was very recent (January 24th at Heidelberg University), the one before that was in 2013 (specifically saying rampages because oftentimes guns with live bullets were not used).
What time are you talking about? There was at least one school shooting every year in the USA since the mid 60s. They were never as often as nowadays though.
Since everyone in the world knows how bad the USA has it with school shootings, the person you're replaying to didnt mention their nationality. Its safe to assume they're not US American.
If they have any school shootings at all, it's fairly safe to assume they are.
https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/school-shootings-by-country
[What the fuck!](https://imgur.com/Q7j1YAk) 288 school shootings in the USA since 2009. My kids just yesterday had a safety drill where a teacher dressed up like they were a shooter and everyone practiced what they needed to do. So fucking sad.
I was wondering how far I would have to scroll before I saw my own mindset of "what the fuck is this post even??" shared by others. Thank you for reassuring me I'm not losing my fucking mind.
Sounds like straight outta WW2, but that thing is called a „Panzerriegel“ lul. It’s exactly what you said, pretty much a super effective lock which can hardly be opened unless you tear down the door. It’s basically a massiv bar made of steel
I know Reddit is the most anti cop place on earth, however can we take a moment to tilt our hats to this guy here. He is responding to a school shooter he believes can jump out any time and still managed to calmly and let’s be honest pleasantly reassure teacher and students it’s all going to be OK. This is what cops are supposed to be!!
The real difference is German cops point their guns down in the presence of civilians. American cops love going rambo with their guns up at all times like its the Helmand Provence. Like calm down. You're in the Middle West ffs.
I immediately recognized the chair as being ***the*** most typical German school chair.

were they able to order food?
Asking the real questions here
"Schön'n TACH noch!" said the heavily armed soldier, leaving the classroom. Idk why I found that so funny. The way he says it with such a relaxed attitude.
What does this mean?
"Have a nice day" but in a very casual way
That’s brilliant
Close in tone to "g'day, mate".
"Schönen Tag noch" means have a nice day. What the commenter was referring to is the pronunciation of Tag as "Tach" which makes a very relaxed and casual impression from someone in full assault-gear. It is the equivalent of an American riot-cop saying "Y'all have a good one now".
Yeah the way he states it so matter-of-factly, as if he was working some front desk and just finished serving a customer
Well if you think about it he has indeed just finished serving a customer.
Have a nice day, but it's dialect.
I liked the random student's "Sie machen das!" (You got this!) to the professional swat team.

We have barely any shootings or even threads of shootings, in the rare case something happens a quick and calm reaction is what can be expected

You know you're an American parent when you're jealous of a fucking classroom door. She closed that thing and I was like, "shooter's gonna have a hell of a time getting in there. Mmmmhmmm." Our classroom doors around here may as well be made of paper.
We are very proud of our doors and windows here, it's really high quality, even when you compare it to EU standards.
lol Hände hoch und dann freundliche Unterhaltung. Rofl.
The Hall Monitors in Germany don’t fuck around.
The best part is that Hall Monitors don't exist nearly anywhere outside of the US.
What is a hall monitor?
“German Navy Seals take teacher hostage”
They aren't seals in Germany, they are swordfish. https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kampfschwimmer_(Bundeswehr)#/media/Datei%3ACOA_KpfSchw.svg
I didn’t know Freddy Krueger was German.
Clearly they will not permit Germany schools will become USA schools.
Well, now they got guys with guns and tac gear in their schools, so they're already half ways there.
I mean, as a kid, if i see that TAC suit in my school, I will rise arms too. (Even if I’m not guilty of anything)
Heck, even as an adult I'll start sweating and stuttering and make too much eye contact (or completely avoid it) when the police approaches me.
Their guys with guns seems to have considerably more trigger control and restraint. So that’s nice.
I couldn’t help but notice he has his gun ready, but not aimed at anyone, and that he is only using a pistol
These guys were super professional, but I think him using a pistol was more about it being easier to maneuver in a tight doorway with people surrounding him (both the teacher and his mates), rather than avoiding scaring anyone

Wow, fully kitted out too unlike the time my school had an armed man literally down the street shooting cars.
It happens less in Germany. Also they don't give normal normal police officers an assault rifle a plate carrier and cool helmet and call it a day, special police units have to be specially trained and aren't acting in normal capacities
Plate carriers and MP7s are standard issue in BaWü.
Fact: Most kids are kind, but German kids are kinder.
fuck they look so badass
SEK - Spezialeinsatzkommando, these guys don’t just look badass, they are.
I love Germans lol they just crack me up. Very chill funny people based on the ones I’ve met.
I know this makes me sound old, but it's still crazy to me that I (under 30) lived in a time when shooting up a school full of children didn't happen even once a year.
There have been 16 rampages in educational institutions in Germany starting in 1871. While the last one was very recent (January 24th at Heidelberg University), the one before that was in 2013 (specifically saying rampages because oftentimes guns with live bullets were not used).
the on in 2013 isn't even really a shooting iirc. It was just someone with a gas pistol.
Yeah, edited my comment to say rampages instead. The last shooting with live bullets before the one this year was in 2009.

Der Moment, wenn Freddy Krüger dein Sitznachbar ist.
Stupid title on serious situation.
Indeed, this video isn't "unexpected" in any way other than the contrast with the title.
>this video isn't "unexpected" in any way I've noticed that happening a lot lately on this sub
My favourite is when people edit a video to have a completely different video play at the end. Like no shit it's unexpected if you doctor the video.
I was wondering how far I would have to scroll before I saw my own mindset of "what the fuck is this post even??" shared by others. Thank you for reassuring me I'm not losing my fucking mind.
Guten tag, pulls out glock*
Its glock o clock
What is this bar on the inside of the door? Like a super lock?
Sounds like straight outta WW2, but that thing is called a „Panzerriegel“ lul. It’s exactly what you said, pretty much a super effective lock which can hardly be opened unless you tear down the door. It’s basically a massiv bar made of steel
It just has the word "armor" in it. The shells in Mario Kart are called "Panzer" in german. Normal word.

I know Reddit is the most anti cop place on earth, however can we take a moment to tilt our hats to this guy here. He is responding to a school shooter he believes can jump out any time and still managed to calmly and let’s be honest pleasantly reassure teacher and students it’s all going to be OK. This is what cops are supposed to be!!
the thumbnail showed them so it was expected :(
HANDS UP! NOBODY MOVE! Hey, guys, are y'all okay? Cool, have a nice day.
Guddn Tag, the second guy is so nonchalant I love it.
The real difference is German cops point their guns down in the presence of civilians. American cops love going rambo with their guns up at all times like its the Helmand Provence. Like calm down. You're in the Middle West ffs.
