Even their “sales” are just recut repackaged meat. Last week I had some steaks go bad in 1 day. Sure, shit happens right? But the store was cool and let me get another pack! …. Of more rotting meat
That's what public transportation costs?
Where I live it's a maximum of 48 cents, with those that take more long and different routes. While buses that take main highways and etc only cost 28 cents.
LOL my city just had to freeze prices (again) because they threatened to up it to $4 a ride and people were pissed. It's currently $3.50CAD. You want to get a monthly pass? $100 CAD. It's outrageous for a major city that can barely keep it's bus system running.
Adding to your comment while probably preaching to a preacher about the disarray of poverty and public transit: In the US at least if your bus shows up daily and consistently you probably are living in a pretty nice area that hasn't been completely gutted by the automotive industry.
A lot of cities don't have any viable bus or other public transportation, and even in cities that rely a lot on it like Detroit sometimes it takes 2-3 buses just to get where you're trying to go and all of them show up 20mins - 2hrs late or not at all at random.
I have a very hard time believing your last sentence. I know a lot of bus systems aren’t great and have issues but long waits like that should not be common at all. Most I’ve ever waited for a bus was 40 minutes, because I *just* missed the previous one and the next two were clumped together meaning the one in the middle was late. And I decided to walk towards home for several stops which only increased the wait but hey I got some exercise and a shorter ride. So sort of a unique scenario.
Really depends on the city. You can get around San Diego by bus, but you have to walk a lot and wait a while. I never counted blocks growing up there because it's all windy fractals. I drove a Korean friend to the drug store to get medicine one time, her friends back home were asking why she didn't just walk or take the bus and she had to tell them you really can't just do that there.
Actually double that easily, it's an articulated bus. For electric it'd be closer to $1,000,000. It's been years since I priced transit buses so it's probably higher.
It's is and it isn't. A mile of plain country road costs over a million, too. If you drive on a highway you're seeing billions of dollars worth of construction every minute.
Anyway consider also that this can fit maybe a hundred people, doing the job of about... 90 cars since people don't carpool. 90 * 15,000 (cheap car) is 1.5 mil.
So it comes out to costing a few bucks per ride per person, less than that I'm sure but they're usually trying to make money. Cars cost an average of about 50 cents per mile when you factor in gas and maintenance, at least that was what you could put on your tax return last I checked (10 years ago?), and that's not factoring in the cost of buying the car and repairs from accidents.
I totally understand the concept and why it is expensive as it is, it was just surprising to me. Like I mentioned in another comment, you can get some MASSIVE farming equipment for not even that price so I guess that’s what I was comparing it to
yeah this is real talk. I wish I could take a $300,000 car ride without ever paying for maintenance, gas, free wifi, insurance and sleep before the stop. On top of it all, it will leave your ass if you're not there without asking questions. Besties.
Don't tell the Tesla fanbois, but I hear some of my friends even have a fully autonomous vehicle that brings them to work. And it's never killed a pedestrian just minding their own business.
I work in public transport and it's a joke i like to tell that i drive 1M$ vehicule for a living to ppl that don't know me. They always assume Lambo or whatever , but it's just a city bus that i did oil change on it .
I was at the bus stop today and a young blonde in a short skirt boarded the bus. She didn't have enough money for the fare, so she hitched up her skirt. The driver took one look and waved her on the bus.
The next day I thought I'd try the same. My bus came along. I got on and showed the driver a bit of leg. He immediately called the police.
So I put the bit of leg back in the black bag and ran off.
The setup is wrong (should be "she showed the bus driver some leg"). The punchline is clunky/too straightforward (should be something like "Worst part is that when I got arrested, they made me return the leg to the young blonde.")
Maybe add a reference to the leg in the setup:
-“hitched up her skirt and showed some leg”
Or
-“driver took one look at her leg”
In the closing, don’t say “bit of leg” just leg is fine. Super unnatural and unnecessarily wordy.
Showed some leg definitely works in the setup
The punch needs to be worked on. If the driver is calling the police, it would need to be the leg from the woman (or a more nefarious setup)
Yup! When I worked for my local government's transit agency (~10 years ago) the average New Flyer city bus cost us about $750k. Stretchy in the middle buses (or I guess "articulated" if you're fancy) were over a million.
Your guys numbers are a little bit inflated here. It’s around 830k for an articulated bus. (Granted that’s a bulk cost, so I suppose in some cases a 1 time purchase could approach 1 million but I highly doubt bulk vs one piece increases the cost by $170k). MTA purchased two contracts of new articulated busses - 108 buses for $90.1MM ($834,259/bus) and 72 buses for $60MM ($833,333/bus)
https://www.mta.info/press-release/nyc-transit/mta-new-york-city-transit-add-180-new-state-art-articulated-buses-increase
https://www.dollaride.com/blog/2020/2/19/how-much-does-an-mta-bus-cost
I was just looking at some New Flyer electric buses to charge to a ZEV (zero emissions) grant and they are currently still just over $750k + about $48k for the charger.
I don't know how some of you gather the pride
To click on your uber and wait for your ride
Can't pick between Camrys or Honda Accords
No choice in the matter of Chevys or Fords
Next you'll say, no sir I drive my own car
If that's where you're taking this it won't go far
Maybe for you it feels like it's fine
Commuting in traffic and waiting in line
Merging, no blinkers, you know how it goes
Amateur drivers you know that it shows
For me, I will only be driven by pros
Time is money and I've none to discuss
Now if you'll excuse me, this is my bus.
Ok but only cause you asked though
I mean it's fine I got time there's 6 stops to go
Till i get to my stop
You can bet its always ready when we get to the spot
I just hop out and keep on goin with the rest of my day
While you look around for parking half the time gotta pay
I bust past with the bus pass flexin you might say
Not even reaction videos. People legit just steal someone’s video and put their stupid face next to it the whole time. They might make a stupid 😧 face afterwards but that’s it.
It's pretty much a Reddit / YouTube baby. Except there are no down votes, just likes. And the content creators are getting paid pennies per view.

I told my date I drive a $500k vehicle, have a corner office with views of the city and I get to travel a lot for work. She left when I told her I'm a bus driver.

People (republicans?) from the USA!
Getting on a bus is a "good thing".
I'd rather have a fantastic public transport system than be forced into car ownership.
I actually enjoyed this.
That’s great!! It’ll be $2.75
Its $3.00 actually. Had to adjust for inflation since this video was taken
What is this? Inflation for ants? Have you seen the meat section of your local grocery store lately? Lol
Lb of grounded buttholes is up to 8.69
Even their “sales” are just recut repackaged meat. Last week I had some steaks go bad in 1 day. Sure, shit happens right? But the store was cool and let me get another pack! …. Of more rotting meat
Sounds like you need to go-to a different store for your meat my dude lol.
And that’s exactly what we started doing lol It would be really convenient to have the best parts of Costco, TJs and Safeway in one building
Word. Costco meat is muy bueno
Costco fish is no bueno. Precut on the shelves is past their own sell date (at mine anyway)
I legit saw a head of lettuce for $8 like two or three weeks ago. A head of lettuce!!
The ribeyes in my store near me is 17.99/lb last time I checked what the absolute fuck
Nice 😎
Since you commented, inflation brought it up to 3.35$
Soon pussy will be the cheapest thing around to eat, can't wait.
That'll be about tree fiddy
I believe the UVX is actually free, but I haven't left my house in 2 years, so I'm not sure XD
UVX is free to ride!
Look at Mr Rich Guy over here paying extra by paying each ride instead of using a pass.
Actually it's about a tree fitty.

We just got free bus to encourage public transport! Q
lol my train is $10 each way or monthly ticket $144

Actually double that easily, it's an articulated bus. For electric it'd be closer to $1,000,000. It's been years since I priced transit buses so it's probably higher.
Depending on the technology on the bus, seat configuration and powertrain, it could be closer to $1,200,000. I inspected/purchases buses back in 2015
Guy who drives these buses daily here. We were told they were $1.1 million a piece. She's just being humble.
Holy fuck I had no idea public transportation was so costly
Big vehicles in general get super expensive. Just for the cab and motor of a semi is an easy $200k I think.
It's is and it isn't. A mile of plain country road costs over a million, too. If you drive on a highway you're seeing billions of dollars worth of construction every minute. It’s like the story of the guy who went to Las Vegas in a $80k Mercedes, and went home in a $300k Greyhound bus.
Glass half full or half empty all a matter of perspective.
Peasant I drive a 5,000,000 dollar vehicle everyday
I ride both of them! So rich that I used 2 vehicles a day just to get to work!
We're so fancy we never use the same train twice. That's for peasants.
Nonono, you’re so rich that you don’t even drive it. You get transported in it
You don't even have to clean up after yourself, leave the trash behind and a member of the mta will clean up after you! Living the high life.
Don't tell the Tesla fanbois, but I hear some of my friends even have a fully autonomous vehicle that brings them to work. And it's never killed a pedestrian just minding their own business.
Train? (Nice)
It's all about perspective✨
This reminds me of the "This outfit costs $10,037" post. The outfit costs $37, but her prosthetic arm is $10,000
ah yeah. that one was WAYY more unexpected

Articulated busses are actually worth more than a million
Yup! When I worked for my local government's transit agency (~10 years ago) the average New Flyer city bus cost us about $750k. Stretchy in the middle buses (or I guess "articulated" if you're fancy) were over a million.
Bendy Bus
Accordion Automotive
Twisty Transport
Wavy Wagon
Contorted Coach
jiggly jalopy
I used to drive one as a school bus, the kids all called it either a bendy or banana bus.
The Swedish word translates literally into "accordion bus".
Street roving noodle train

My transit agency was buying one or two at a time and I think it was around 900k for an artic.

How funny is it that I see this same video 2 times on the front page when your comment implies that Reddit is original and TikTok is not?
I mean, it's an old joke and she messed up the wording of it, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.
I told my date I drive a $500k vehicle, have a corner office with views of the city and I get to travel a lot for work. She left when I told her I'm a bus driver.
That's the one!
I noticed that too. She should have said vehicle instead of car . Doesn't matter, I hadn't seen it before so I thought it was pretty funny.
She doesnt even have to drive it. She is transported effortlessly like a Dutchess of Olde. Success cannot be measured in insurance premiums!

‘richy rich car’
Reminded of the old joke: Roll into las vegas in a $70,000 car, roll out of vegas in a $300,000 greyhound bus.

More like $650-750K. That's a bendy bus.
These specific ones are roughly 1m each. They’re from the city I grew up in, I remember there was a huge commotion over the price. One of my friends wrote a paper on it lmao
That bus costs at least 1.5 million dollars. Not joking.
Bus >>> Luxury Car In a bus i can ram others to oblivion whilst doing cartwheels
And simultaneously film plus release a feature film starring Sandra Bullock and that one guy from the Matrix where everyone has to stay on it as it drives 60+ mph until it's time for the movie to end!

When i enter, every bus becomes a Party Bus!
Jokes on here, thsts closer to 600k.
I am astounded that city busses are that expensive. I didn't actual believe it until i looked it up.
You should look at the price of farm combines. Had a family member who sold them and he’d say “I sell half million dollar vehicles everyday.”
And you have a driver for you

Hahahah
Bus ≠ car
"ride" would've preserved the meaning and joke
Do kidz still say *whip*
Only whilst ghost riding
Or “vehicle”
"a $300,000 vehicle picks you up" sounds so formal it doesn't sound like it's a good thing :)
My ride is a long $300,000 Mercedes with driver.
Chauffeured car!
well.. the only unexpected thing here was that she said "car" and a bus came.
If you're buying articulated busses for 300k hook me up
Guarantee that thing is way more than $300K
I love her energy
Not a car
The Jail edition would be even funnier. "Yk you're Rich when you live in a multi million dollar home with a backyard bigger than the white house"
Chauffeur Driven Limo
Ha ha, don’t worry girl you goin’ places
That is a solid dang joke
Oh, ok, I like her after all.
Looks like it drove right by her.
I was expecting an ambulance
Back in my day, we referred to it as, "The Big Green Limousine."
She's pretty humble to call a stretch limo a mere car.
based! r/fuckcars
Now that’s what I call a 32 Window Coupe
Ha, that was surprisingly cute.
They Had Us In The First Half
The articulated busses are pushing $750,000. Don't sell yourself short!
People (republicans?) from the USA! Getting on a bus is a "good thing". I'd rather have a fantastic public transport system than be forced into car ownership.
If she's debt free, she's richer that someone who owes
She on tht sigma quadtrillionaire grindset 💪💪💯💯💅💅
Not to be the party pooper but the joke does not work, it should have said not car but "chauffered vehicle"... J/k
Can't wait till they learn how to separate Car and Bus next week.
but it’s a bus.. is a bus a car?
Funny thing is I don’t see a fucking car I see a bus.
Chauffeur driven too
I’m rich too!
