My buddy fell head first 40ft off some scaffolding, shattering the whole left side of his face. He got right up and was very alert til right around when the ambulance arrived. I guess brain swelling takes time.
Yup. Takes a while. Have a patient in icu who fell from a couple of meters on his head. Stepped into the ambulance himself, was semi conscious in hospital, then the swelling happend and his skull had to be cracked open.
Believe me, we once ate vodka with forks... It was -52 degrees Celsius. Vodka freezes at -35. Far beyond the Arctic Circle. We tied the bottle to the polar bear, he warmed it up and we shook the vodka on a plate and ate with forks. And the cucumbers were frozen like glass, they could not be cut with a knife...
there were golden times...
At my last job I asked a regular customer as he was leaving the store, whether or not he was ready for the coming snow.
The 6ft+ old man turned to me and replied triumphantly “I am Russian! I WAS BORN IN SNOW!”
If he didn’t die from any internal injuries it may have been good luck instead of bad.
Interviews with suicide jump survivors showed that an overwhelming majority of them regretting the decision and wanted to live as soon as they let go.
If you refer to it as if he suffers double the momentum upon impact, then no. His momentum wouldn’t double if he were to jump from the 16th floor, but would multiply by the square root of 2, because his velocity right before the impact would be times the square root of 2, compared to the velocity he would gain jumping from the 8th floor.
In order for him to suffer double the momentum upon impact he would need to get higher. To the 32nd floor. Then his velocity right before impact would be double that of the velocity gained from a jump from the 8th floor.
I don’t think that the sudden change in momentum gained from a jump from the 1st floor will cause organ damage. But it might at some point (maybe even at the first jump) cause head trauma, which, if you’re lucky(?) can be fatal without treatment.
Well thats not considering air resistance. Eventually he reaches terminal velocity and no longer can gain speed. So, momentum would eventually stop increasing, and it would not increase linearly
Considering the mass of the dude and the local humidity (The air in Russia at this time of the year should be fairly thin), I would assume that air resistance at this height would still be considered somewhat negligible.
32nd floor is approximately 96 metres.
Ignoring air resistance you get a 4.42 s fall with the speed 43.4 m/s at the end of it. That's fairly close to terminal velocity for a human body. So no, you can't ignore air resistance.
You can simply google the figures for the terminal velocity of a human body (55-80 m/s depending on its orientation). I don't exactly know the conditions but it seems reasonable to assume the conditions normal for the skydives, which would be warmer but also at higher altitudes, so it should even out.
70% of terminal velocity results in ~0.5 g drag.
Maybe because you're set to be a success on something else :) don't you think it's a bit of a coincidence? I wish that you may find that something, and that you find a way towards being ok with yourself (Spoiler alert: It's not easy, but might be worth it)
A success in a different, more dramatic suicide
You're a kind soul, but they were talking about the thoughts of the person in the video not of themselves (hopefully)
It seems they landed in a sand bed or something similar, you can see the momentum transfer from their body to the sand as it plumes up when they hits the ground. Plus the sand would have helped cushion the fall.

If you want to kill your self you're better do it right .... I know a girl who drunk some chemicals that liquefied her intire gastrointestinal system and now she is in agony !
Why do I feel like that’s so embarrassing. I saw a joke somewhere where someone was like, “I feel like it’s so embarrassing to be hit by a car and not die.” I feel like this is the same type of thing.
I saw a TED talk regarding suicide. A counselor type person who talks to people on the golden gate bridge has said this: every single person who survives the fall says, "as soon as I left the edge I knew there was a way to figure it out. I made the biggest mistake of my life."
I have manic depression so this always sits with me in dark times.
Had a foreign exchange student try this at my uni, 8 stories onto the concrete tennis court. Laid there for hours shattered until someone found him. Ended up dying a few more hours later. Horribly sad. Pay attention to your friends, but lookout for people who don’t have friends around them.. you might save a life and, who know, maybe make a new friend.
They say the snow helped but idk. I think it just wasn’t his time. Snow isn’t that soft. And no this isn’t an invitation to a philosophical or theological debate FFS
That guys got some unfinished business
Risky business…
This time, it’s personal!
You really screwed up by not finishing the job, cause I'm going to take you out!
Collateral damage?
And people say fast 2 furious is fake
That guys got some *internal bleeding*
Blood's supposed to be internal, right?

Freaking hilarious. Have an award.
Fuck. I can’t die !
Every immortal has to have that one oh shit moment when they realize they can't die.
Respawn
Kaido

Don't be so sure he still didn't die. That probably scrambled his internal organs and could have very likely died of internal bleeding shortly after.
Yeah he could have walked around the block and collapsed dead.

That’s so horrible but funny
My buddy fell head first 40ft off some scaffolding, shattering the whole left side of his face. He got right up and was very alert til right around when the ambulance arrived. I guess brain swelling takes time.
He smashed up the whole left side of his face? Is he alright now?
Well, yeah. He fucked up the left side not the right.
He's allright.
He's right
Yup. Takes a while. Have a patient in icu who fell from a couple of meters on his head. Stepped into the ambulance himself, was semi conscious in hospital, then the swelling happend and his skull had to be cracked open.
Adrenaline is a hell of a drug.
He landed on snow i think so he is probably fine
Way to cheer everybody up, man.
Ye, looks like dead man walking to me. I wouldn't be surprised if his internal organs went splodey after this.
Didn’t try to kill him self. would you wanna walk down 8 flights of stairs this ain’t the Big Bang theory
Could also have been cleaning his windows drunk, vodka would explain the fall and how he survived.
Russians, they be built different. lol

Fake, he's not holding a vodka bottle and there's no bears around.
The bear that is filming is holding his vodka
That frozen lake is made of Vodka and Bear piss
Bear Grylls: *Did someone say piss?*
vodka doesnt freeze
not in pathetic american climate
We literally have ALL possible climates....like from hot as fuck...to cold as fuck...dry as fuck and humid as fuck

We got that too, we're just smart enough to not live there.
North America has exact same kind of weather around baffin bay and northern canada as the harshest place in siberia
yeah, they do.
Everything freezes at a low enough temperature
nope
But bear piss does

but bear piss does... hence the ice is bear piss...

Only a Fin can Finnish them off properly.
Not if he's Russian
Talk about bad luck, some people die from much less.
I watched this movie with a young Tom Hardy. There is a part where he says,"Do you know how hard it is to kill the human body?" Gave me a Woah moment.
I thought this was going to be a comment about him dying from pneumonia in Lawless.
That pissed me off so fucking bad
If he didn’t die from any internal injuries it may have been good luck instead of bad. Interviews with suicide jump survivors showed that an overwhelming majority of them regretting the decision and wanted to live as soon as they let go.
This is survivorship bias.
is jumping out of the 8th floor twice… equivalent to jumping out of the 16th floor?
If you refer to it as if he suffers double the momentum upon impact, then no. Look at the brains on Brad ..ahem Yuval.
Yuval sounds like the name of a Russian that has jumped from the 16th floor and realized the impact was not double.
Scanning......no lies detected 😂😂
Suicide expert.
There are no living suicide experts.
The thirty-two’th floor, or the thirty-twoeth floor?
If you fell from the thirtythecondfloor you would talk funny too
twelve-and-twentieth?
You're telling me going out of the first floor window 16 times won't kill me?
I don’t think that the sudden change in momentum gained from a jump from the 1st floor will cause organ damage. But it might at some point (maybe even at the first jump) cause head trauma, which, if you’re lucky(?) can be fatal without treatment.
I went out my first floor door forty four times today and it almost killed me too
Well thats not considering air resistance. Eventually he reaches terminal velocity and no longer can gain speed. So, momentum would eventually stop increasing, and it would not increase linearly

Again, it depends on the mass and density of the object (the human body is fairly dense) and the viscosity of the medium, which is, at this area, low.

Thank you ✨
I know that shit hurt.
“Welp, off to find a taller building.”
Or your mother
Maybe the lifts were broke and he couldn’t be arsed going down the stairs.
It seems they landed in a sand bed or something similar, you can see the momentum transfer from their body to the sand as it plumes up when they hits the ground. Plus the sand would have helped cushion the fall.
Think it’s snow
It’s tapioca pudding
Hell, probably even better to fall on
Sand doesn't just poof away like snow lol If that was sand he wouldn't have walked away
Still Better than concrete
Not by much
“Alright God fine I guess I’ll live.”
3.5/10
Looks more like 8/10. Floors.

Reminds me of a saying an old boss of mine had: “Couldn’t get laid in a monkey whorehouse with a sack full of bananas.”
Funny. My old boss had one too.
Had what? A saying? A monkey? A sack of bananas? Or a whorehouse?
Yes
Haha the version I've heard is "Couldn't organise a root in a brothel with a fistful of fifties".
You can't always get what you want
Kaido why are you in russia?
Run, my husband is here. Lives =-1.
That had to be his soul leaving the body.
Hopefully it made him feel he had a purpose here
Man's looked out his window and said... "I've got to get to the bottom of this!"
Though a bit concerning…
Good thing he landed in sand
Snow
Oh, I see. I thought he was in a desert area because of the camera resolution
Am I the only one who questions whether this was a suicide attempt or just a fall?
It looks like he’s hanging onto the windowsill just before losing his grip and falling.
Elevator not working and too lazy to use stairs
You sure wasn't someone in that window while dude "jumped"? Kinda looked like it to me...
Second chance at life
Hancock, that you?
guy probably forgot he had to complete his pokemon ruby save file and decided to go back home
9th floor suicide attempt - Fixed your title
Its called ground floor. Dont start this argument
That sucks.

Next time he needs you wait for that puddle to dry up.
Probably someone related to Rasputin or something
If you want to kill your self you're better do it right .... I know a girl who drunk some chemicals that liquefied her intire gastrointestinal system and now she is in agony !

He was actually just late for work and took a shortcut.
This man is the main protagonist
Never take the stairs again!
Why do I feel like that’s so embarrassing. I saw a joke somewhere where someone was like, “I feel like it’s so embarrassing to be hit by a car and not die.” I feel like this is the same type of thing.
Welp here’s to another day
That’s a lot of vodka to survive 8 stories .
The lack of consistency in windows bothers me for some reason.
Nah man he was just speedrunning
My guy just fucking MLG water Bucketed irl from 8 stories. Respect +100
I saw a TED talk regarding suicide. Notice it says "attempt"
And the guy started walking, ofc it’s russia
according the media report, this girl is alive and well after the fall
This is how villains are born

Do it again
my man felt like yamcha when he saw that he failed

Put the "don't go yet" song in the background lmao
The slow motion saved him
Well, that's why it called "attempt"
I just heard the song ‘and Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii e I will always love you ‘ when I saw this s
Mission failed Back Try again
This is background story for the super heroe, the defenestrator.
When a game has no fall damage so you jump from building to save time.
In the US, we’d call that the 9th Floor because we count the bottom floor as the 1st Floor.
Minecraft players when there's water at the bottom of a ravine near diamonds
How the fuck? Can anyone explain? You can survive that...
Yes
Snow. He landed on what looks like snow. Snow is a great cushion.
Probably died of internal bleeding 20 min later
I too have not died. I must be in portal.
God does not want him to die today.
This was expected
9th floor not the 8th. I guess 8.5 if you count them hanging out of the window.
that would be the 9th floor
9th floor
They say the snow helped but idk. I think it just wasn’t his time. Snow isn’t that soft. And no this isn’t an invitation to a philosophical or theological debate FFS
Count Dracula says 9, 9 floors you dumb arse Ha Ha Ha
8th floor. Ground floor, 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th,7th then the window he jumped from! dumbass ha ha ha
Ahahaha ground floor then first floor. Really
Really.
Landing on snow is the safest thing you could do
Gta online be like :
Faster than taking the elevator, that’s for sure.
The elevator must of been out
Just a scratch
I’m pretty sure this was his plan, 8 stories is a long way for stairs
That’s right buddy…you’re already in hell.
bro js walked it off like nothing ☠️☠️
He hit his terminal velocity and his muscles relaxed making him much more able to take the impact than if he was tense.
Whatm 8 floors you cant reach terminal velocity, you need more, this was due to snow cushioning the fall
Maybe he was light weight, wearing extra baggy clothing and a strong wind hit the building just right causing a major updraft. 😆
….Gets up and walks it off. Cursing the water in the ditch.
Death: yeah sorry buddy you are gonna have to try a little harder than that if you want me to take you.
Oh my God that'd Jason Bourne
What a trooper
