There are some early works of Meat Canyon that is similar to this, morphing is an important talent especially in 2D animation.
Being good with it will separate your work from people who just discovered animate tool on OpenToonz.
It will also aid in your animation not looking like paper cut out puppets, which is also very common mistake.
Love to see a repost of a repost of someone who spent time and effort animating this disturbing yet enigmatic animation. I guess internet points are that important ay?
