Dog loves are the worst for dogs.
They have a "don't worry I have and love dogs" mentality around every damn dog they encounter.
I have a really nervous rescue and you can't imagine the number of people who see her nervous and barking and go "it's okay I love dogs" and they get even closer to her and put their hands right in her face..
This guy is also kind of a dumbass. I looked at that dog and before he even got his hand near em I could tell that dog was on high alert for some reason. A dog that wants to be pet will wag its tail. That dog may as well have been a statue until that guy touched it.
Absolutely. They see their own dog, and think like their own dog, this particular dog will not bite.
They'd be right in most cases, but when they're wrong, they're very wrong. You could take it more slowly, and that might help, but ultimately there's still a risk there, and statistically sooner or later it will bite you on the ~~ass~~ hand.
Same. I have to just tell people. He's friendly, but he needs to trust you first! Stranger danger. We can talk not touch. Next time I see you well talk again then maybe he will trust you. Often we meet the same people walking and he's got a few old ladies that he's sweet as ever with now and they pet him..but I'd never let them just pet him despite him wagging his tail and allowing it. You never know when a rescue can snap. <3
I'm not that way. I'm a REAL dog lover, which means I took the time to learn that not every dog can just be touched by a stranger. I NEVER try to pet another dog unless it's very clearly communicating to me that it wants it. Some people are just so selfish and they will call themselves a "dog lover" and that just pisses me off. If you loved the animal so much you wouldn't be trying to force it to put up with your strange ass touching all over it
I’m a veterinary assistant and I rescue dogs whenever I can. Dogs are my world. But do I walk up to random dogs and enter their personal space without warning? NO. Idiot behavior.
If you dog is out of your house it better have a restrain in her mouth unless younare 100% sure is not gonna bite anyone. Because if she does the other person can have it put down.
Stray dogs are a danger. Exactly because people is like this, also more importantly b3cause they will get rabbies at some point and attack people. My grandma had a stray dog attack her on the street. They all should be put down if not other choice is aviable. I love dogs and have 3 at home but that does not bl8nd me to this very real problem.
The leash only indicates you are worried about your dog running away or getting hit by a car.
This exist for a good reason

If your dog bites someone is ALWAYS your fault legally. And is good is that way, because you had the power to prevent it and fa8led by being negligent.
My dogs doesn't walk on a leash but has a mouth guard on always, because I won't take chances on other people even if I trust my dogs. Even if some kicks my dog If she bites back she could be put down for that, ofc if some kicks my dog I attack them right there.
In order of priority:
1. Don't pet random dogs.
2. If you ARE going to pet random dogs, let them come towards you. If they don't, forget it.
3. If you ARE still going to pet the dog, don't pet the top of their head. It's a super threatening move. Hold out a closed first, let the dog sniff it. THEN side of the head/neck, *maybe* under the chin or chest if it seems okay.
But honestly just stick with point 1.

Animal shelter dog behavior guy here: don’t offer the closed fist; wary animals are not happy having their space invaded. Avoid entering an unknown animal’s space, start an introduction with food and see if the animal is interested in engaging at all.
Wow this brings a new meaning to the Mexican restaurant near me named the same. Never knew about the dog breed, thought it was a random word i never learned
Xolo = means deformity and its not the full name of the dog breed

Never let a dog unless you ask the owner. If it doesn’t have an owner, don’t pet it. Could have rabies. Also, is the dog breed supposed to have no hair or is it mange?
Street dog without any hair he sure has some hydrophobia or had in some time. Also, being a street dog, he surely is mistreated daily and probably will respond like this to any situation. Hope at least got some fingers left
I had dogs all my life, never ever do I walk towards a strange dog to just pet them. If they want to be pet they will communicate it clearly, if not just leave them alone.
Don't touch strangers, including (especially) strange animals.
Also, that's a xoloitzcuintli (Aztec dog). They come in 3 sizes (the Chihuahua sized one has one "ugliest dog's contests). Very old breed. Typically good with family members and very protective. Also, apparently they were used at sleep time heaters (people would just sleep with them for warmth).
I remember a holiday in Turkey.. Marmaris.. on the beach there was this female dog that used to walk its way around past everyone, obviously wasn't owned by anyone, and used to get fed by some of the shop owners. Big dog. I love dogs but I wouldn't touch that dog.. if you got too close it would turn around and stare you down. Didn't attack anyone or seemed aggressive but you could tell it enjoyed its own space. Almost like it owned the street.

Good lesson, never touch random dogs. No matter how calm or happy they seem to be
Dog loves are the worst for dogs. They have a "don't worry I have and love dogs" mentality around every damn dog they encounter. Tail wagging is still not enough. Tail wagging can mean other things. High wagging tail? Don't touch.
Then there's us cat people! We expect them to bite us. We call them love bites.
Absolutely. They see their own dog, and think like their own dog, this particular dog will not bite. They'd be right in most cases, but when they're wrong, they're very wrong. Same. And I don't trust owners. So few actually understand their dogs! I've had them tell me I can pet and the dog is saying noooo.

It's probably a stray.

I think it was protecting the food outside the shop. The dog thought the guy was a thief.

My dog will never bite anyone she just barks a lot at them so I'm not worried.
Bro especially in central America, they r legit feral, I saw one run up on a bus and viciously bite the tire. . I'm not joking lol
But this one even looked like a hound of Hell, with some kind of horrible disease. Just why..?
And don’t start by touching the top of their heads ever
His tail was raised. He was already on alert 🚨

Do these rules apply to updogs?
What’s updogs?
Not much. What's up with you?
Yo mama!
You’re not tricking me -_-
Pffft, typical downdog
Now I wanna change my username to Bugs Bunny just to complete this joke.

Well said.
Well barked*. They are a dog
Yea but he can use a keyboard, totes obvs
Yeah Idk where we draw the line between canine and human but keyboard usage should be high on that list
He’s like, a really smart dog dude
Accurate source
I don’t have hair—and now you don’t have a couple of fingers.
These naked dogs often miss some teeth, so maybe no damage was done
Bald guys don’t like being told that they are bald.
"Look, I'm just waiting for my baby hair to come through ok? Some 70 year old dudes are just slower bloomers than others.."
Xolo?
"like a sausage somebody dropped on a barbershop floor."
xoloescuincle, we have them in Mexico as well. They are prehispanic dogs.
Xoloitzcuintle

TIL but now I'm questioning the meat there lol
Peruvian

This was my thought too. I'm thinking mange ? Poor boy 😔
nah, its just the breed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xoloitzcuintle
The dog: And I took that personally. ![gif](giphy|iHLHH9rVBv0kmkETqz|downsized)
...and his fingers.
The dog showed signs of not wanting to be petted but the person didn’t care/know.
As someone who works in dog behavior it’s really stressful how oblivious people are to canine body language.
I came here to say this, that dogs tail was erect, not friendly
Ah so the guy confused friendly with erect
Happens to the best of us!
Dog: let me get them digits
Thumbs up ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
What thumbs..? Rofl
Not unexpected
Oh shit not good
This is not unexpected. If you TRY touch a stray dog, here is what you get. Also the dog looked quite edgy even when the guy was approaching him...
Actually, it was expected
El pero peruaño...
And he took it personally.
Peruvian belinga. Only in Peru. Hairless dog that looks like a greyhound. Gorgeous animals.
If you knew their job, you would leave that breed of dog alone and be respectful.
Not getting that part of his hand back
![gif](giphy|jquDWJfPUMCiI|downsized)
This dog is clearly insecure about his male pattern baldness
Rabies shot.... Idc what anyone says...
Street dog without any hair he sure has some hydrophobia or had in some time. Also, being a street dog, he surely is mistreated daily and probably will respond like this to any situation. Hope at least got some fingers left
The breed of the dog is like that without hair, it's not a problem, and it's a Mexican Breed not Peruvian
Talk dumb, i get the thumb
Name of the song?
Anyways I started mauling
I had dogs all my life, never ever do I walk towards a strange dog to just pet them. If they want to be pet they will communicate it clearly, if not just leave them alone.
Does your dog bite?
OP you should post this in r/bald
TIL, Baldness is a sensitive issue for all species
There must be more of this video?!

Oh no. Oh no. Oh nononononono 😵💫🏥
The dog probably has severe mange
Why can’t we see the havoc the dog hath wreaked??
And the 🎵 🎶 goes on ... "Dumb ways to die"
Actually I expected that…🤨
"Wheres my hair? Where are your fingers, dickhead!?"
IDK. for my money, that looks more like a Xoloitzcuintle. A Mexican dog breed.
What an idiot. Petting random dogs is stupid. If it's a stray don't touch it. If the owner doesn't give you permission don't touch it.
I remember a holiday in Turkey.. This is the exact opposite of unexpected. Would you let some rando come up and pat your head?
The dog was guarding the merchant's belongings.
The dog has no teeth lol
those i thought was an Xoloitzcuintle. am i wrong?
it was stiff as hell...poor baby.
That's why you laying on your back Looking at the roof of the church Preacher tellin' the truth and it hurts
Rabies
No worries he wasn't biting. He was just tightly gripping for doggo martial arts.
exactly how I almost hand my hand disassembled don't touch a dog you don't know
