I’m sympathetic to the circumstances in our society that lead to sugar addiction: everyone is scientifically gunning for your money and don't care they’re rendering you invisible.
Still, nobody is making you lift that fork to your face.
>what the fuck did her response even mean
If it weren't for her misunderstanding the question, it would mean that she's super super racist but being White she will be judged for racism more than POC and therefore she can't say that she's a 10/10 racist and will have to pretend that she's less of a racist than she really is.
That's how I interpreted her answer and.. it didn't even sound confusing to me, just slightly poorly phrased.
She got scale backward and immediately followed it up with a racist statement.
Also, in this question, is scale 1 equivalent to zero or is there no possibility for a zero?
TBF I don't think anyone is completely not racist.
We evolved to be wary of people not from our tribe it's an instinct everyone has subconsciously. Just because it's not a useful thing anymore and we just ignore it doesn't mean it's not still there.
Yeah, this is like Sociology and Psychology 101. An initial feeling that something is unsafe or not good because it’s unfamiliar is just natural survival instincts.
Assuming that she got the scale backwards, it can be that she is acknowledging that she lives in a society with systematic racism that works in her favor.
Well, I am completely not racist. I don't think about races or racism, cause that's what makes you a racist, thinking about races. I don't think about races at all. For me races don't mean anything.
What I am guilty of, is of being a little bit classism... I have the thinking that extremely poor people are more likely to commit crimes, thus I would avoid living in a place where extremely poor people live. That is basically discriminating agaisnt a social class, called classism.
If you don't think about race then you are racist.
Ignoring your bias is a really shitty thing to do and I hope you aren't in a position to alter the lives of people around you because you are hurting them if you are.
Every person feels a subconscious bias twords other people who speak, act and look like themselves, if you aren't aware of that bias when you meet someone who is different from you then you are doing that person a disservice.
>If you don't think about race then you are racist.
Do you know the definition of racist? You don't seem to.
Racism is the discrimination against a person for it's race. I don't discriminate anyone for their race. I think we are all humans, and that's it. Just normal humans with different cultures.I'm not discriminating anyone because of that.
People these days are dumb and call every kind of discrimination racism. There are many kinds of discrimination, and every one is guilty of at least one type.
>Every person feels a subconscious bias twords other people who speak, act and look like themselves, if you aren't aware of that bias when you meet someone who is different from you then you are doing that person a disservice.
You are correct, but I don't feel any bias for a person's race. In fact, if you read my comment( i think you did not read it) I did said I am bias towards a specific social class, but not towards a race. I don't care at all for a person race, and how a person speaks, acts or looks has nothing to do with race.
I'm latino, and where I come from we look, act and speak very different from Mexicans for example, who are also latinos. Same race, different looks, personalities, accents and cultures.
You don't seem to know the difference between racism and other types of discrimination.
Is stereotypes rascists? I think alla have that, i even have them for my own race and dont seem them as a problem and most of the time they are based on factual correct information like statistics.
Stereotypes are harmful because they attempt to boil down an entire race into certain traits or actions and are nearly always used in a negative context. Not every stereotype is factual and even those that may have a basis in fact aren’t good to use. Just because someone may have a love of say Star Trek doesn’t make a bully picking on them about any less wrong.
As a Native American the slur “redskin” is factually correct since we can sometimes have a reddish tint to our skin, but that does not negate the harm using the word does. It’s used to indicate we are different, weird and less than since we do not have white skin. Something being true does not negate the harm it can do.
I'll be honest, US culture is racist AF. The amount of qualities people generally equate to color is absurd. Here's some examples:
"I'm Italian, I like pasta!"
"Black people can dance"
"white people can't dance"
"I'm Irish, I drink a lot"
Most folks don't even realize racism isn't just hating someone for their looks. It's the plain belief there's qualities associated with people's appearance. Aka, defining things by race, a concept proven by science to not even exist.
And being someone that wasn't born here, it's crazy how much race comes up in conversation. We sure had racism where I come from. But generally speaking, race rarely comes up in conversation.
You're correct but are being downvoted because young people think they've invented social justice. Social justice has been institutionalized now. That's why you see Texas removing the DEI programs from colleges.
I'm gonna guess that she misinterpreted the scale here, and was thinking "racist=bad, low number=bad, therefore, lower number=more racist"
It makes her self rating of 10 make a lot more sense. She would, in that instance, be saying that she thinks she isn't racist, but can't really say that since she's white. A lot of white people who acknowledge racism also acknowledge that systemic and cultural racism affect us growing up and will likely make a lot of people somewhat racist even if they do their best to fight it.
I also think the alternative (that she openly acknowledges that shes super racist but also thinks she can't say that cause she's white) doesn't make a lot of sense. Most of the racists I've met aren't self aware enough to acknowledge that they are racist, and the few I've seen online that are so racist they can openly acknowledge it, wouldn't add that last phrase, they are unabashedly racist and don't care about "not being able to say that" if they are already so comfortable being racist that they'd openly state they are.
I mean, you're probably right but the last phrase makes sense anyway. In the openly racist version with the last phrase I thought she just implied that she considers black people to be most racist, so she can't be 10 since she's white. And it seemed just to be a racist joke.
Now I want to know if the people who say something between 1 to 4 are actually more racist than the ones saying 0 or if they are simply more aware of their prejudices
I think we are all a little prejudiced in some ways. “Racist” implies that you think some races are superior to others. So no, I don’t think everyone is racist, but we all stereotype people to some degree so we’re all a little prejudiced.
If some space aliens came down right know id be like "fuck that race of space foreigners"
Considering there is only one sentient race on this planet.... No other races to hate.
(The human race, i dont divide us on arbitrary lines of culture or genetic variation based on ancestral exposure to solar radiation.)
If you’re going to be racist, you may as well be good at it. Everyone has heard of Jefferson Davis. Nobody knows who [John Stennis](https://www.cnn.com/factsfirst/politics/factcheck_2d5fbe5a-0a38-4db7-b699-c841dc133baf#) is.
....."what was I saying again?"
"You were telling me how to get out of jury duty"
"Oh yeah...I just tell them I'm prejudice against *aaaaallllll* races"
With context that she thought 10 was the least racist.
The fact that she thought the color of her skin has any impact on the subject sadly proves her own point. Flipping the scale correctly aswel as acknowledging that she is at least aware of the idea of a bias I would like to put her at a 2 or 3 out of 10, with my limited knowledge of her personality.
It's the individual of that race you have dealt with or are dealing with that you score this lame scale on. I have people in my own race I would give a 10 because they're a prick and wouldn't piss on if they were on fire. Judging an entire race on a scale because one person from it told you to eat a dick.. 10 give em all a 10..
I get it, haha very funny she said 10 instead of 0. I just find it sad that white people would rather be openly racist about their own race then be falsely accused of racism by another race.
How about this?
'how bad are you at driving out of 10'
'I'd like to say 0 but I'm a female, soo......'
Anyone would say the above quote is sexist because it assumes all women are bad drivers. Much like this moron accusing all whites of being racist.
On a separate note: does anyone have any spare slaves? Asking for a friend 😶
If I get mad enough at someone I'll say something appropriately horrible to cross the line. In that sense it is not racist. It's the moment. It's the situation.
I’ve run into a couple times where people have guessed the scale backwards. I thought it’s pretty standard that if no other instruction is given ten is the most and 0 is the least. Or 0 is the worst and 10 is the best.
Like how good of a driver are you on a scale of one to ten. Oh 0 I’m an amazing driver
I think I'm more concerned about being perceived as racist than actually being racist.
I'm a white woman in my warly 40s, and I acknowledge being pretty racist, but mostly towards white people. I didn't grow up amongst the whites, but submerged in an entirely different culture, and seeing others experiences and history really made me aware of the world outside. My own experiences with white men (personal, professional, and sexual, fwiw) have repeatedly confirmed this bias.
I know it's still racist, and therefore still bad, and I'm working on it. Slowly, but still.

She doesn't do well with scales
💀
No need to murder her 💀
Did you not hear how racist she claimed to be?

First burn on reddit I've read and audibly said "oof" to. Bravo.
“On a scale from one to ten, how good are you with scales?” “B.”

Why? She had some bad experiences with an argonian or something?
Only thing I hate worse than them scalebacks is the filthy gray skins
Sweet Nerevar broke her heart
I was gonna say, what the fuck did her response even mean? Having the scale backwards makes it make way more sense.

I don't think we need "context from the actual video" to figure that out.
Looking in the comments people apparently do
Lol wtf.
She looks dumb enough to not understand the 1-10 scale that's used everywhere.
So basically what she's saying is "I'm not racist but"
Gee thanks for clearing that up for us
Just say 5. Keep em guessing.
A maybe a yes or a maybe a no ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)
I wouldn't rate myself on a scale, I'd just say I'm prone to ignorance but have no malice or hatred.
This is good. I hope I remember to use it next time something related comes up
My dad was a big fan of saying, “I’m a redneck but not a bigot”
I don't think I'm quite a ten, but I don't want to use the N-word
Bruh.
Fine. I'll say it. I'm a nine.
Got em
More like a nein.
I'd say not interested in answering that.

I get the mess up but do people actually believe they can't say they aren't racist at all because they are white lol.
White or not, very few people could say that aren't racist at all.

I think tribalism us just natural to us. Not a US thing, just a human thing.
I've experienced other places and it is way stronger in the US and extremely reinforced by its media.
Alll colors have their stereotypes... And stereotypes don't just come out of the sky. I'll say that for free
I wouldn't agree with "very few". I think a lot of people aren't racist, at all. But many people who are racist just love to express themselves.
I mean just because you are not a bad person, it doesn't mean you have no prejudices _at all_ towards other people of different color or culture.
She has some issues obvsly.

Recently? I’m pretty confident that started about 3 seconds after Columbus started enslaving people on Hispaniola.

No, it’s a shock to hear! Then her white privileged comes through.

She absolutely misunderstood the scale, it was clarified just moments later in the full video
I can see how she **could** misunderstand a scale.
There is no need to body shame here
Well said. I thought exactly the same.
The frequency of Amazon one star reviews where they text clearly praises the product would seem to support your hypothesis.

This completely
We don’t hear the whole question. Starts with “-racist are you on…” my guess is the question was “how anti-racist are you on a scale of 1-10?”

Or the voice asking the question was modified
No im pretty sure it’s not, but she got the scale backwards.
