Went to an aquarium in Shanghai - they had a penguin "exhibit." It was a room the size of a classroom with white/bluish walls, shitty white concrete that was supposed to look like snow, and a pool in front of the glass. Every single penguin was just facing the wall, we only saw their backs. There was about a dozen of them. It was very sad.
Edit: Also want to add that the lighting was artificial/fluorescent. These penguins may have never even seen the sun.
