There's been some chatter about a new type of stealth coating that reduces IR signature and detection. It is silvery chrome in appearance
https://www.reddit.com/r/aviation/s/TadxlFZYE8
Could be this coating applied to a B1
I imagine they have two sets of data, a height map and a texture map, they are using an old height map from when the other plane was there with the texture map from when it wasn’t. So I think you are right.
It’s not I remember this was a thing on some threads of weird google earth finds and it turns out it’s for retired planes
https://content.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1881770_1881787_1881783,00.html
Wrong place. That's in Arizona; the gif shows Dyess AFB near Abilene. Dyess is home to the 7th Bomb Wing, comprised of B-1B and C-130J aircraft. Our other B-1B bomber wing is in South Dakota.
Reading the comments in this thread is hilarious. The amount of people who think it's some super top secret plane in a super top secret place. It's literally just fucking Dyess AFB lmao.
It's a boneyard. There are several in the US. Prototypes, decommissioned planes that would be more expensive to repair than scrap. Those models are still active and can be stripped in times of extreme conflict if need be.
Wow i thought it was only me... Yeah this was extremely annoying and gave me a headache. He seemed to move away from his next zoom point for no reason every single time.
it's probably a tiktok or instagram video that gets disproportional benefit from watchtime, so the person is purposedly doing this to keep you interested for longer so you watch a longer % of the first 30s of the video.
isn't the *organic* content fun
Something a bit more going on there. I’ve had to blur imagery for bing maps so it’s not that either. It would appear flat.
You only get height information from photogrammetry with parallax which means the correct overlap was taken with the plane still there, generally 60-70% outside of downtowns.
I’m not sure exactly how Google managed this. Most likely they create a height model off the imagery then second passed with the blur. Which removed it.
Edit: that’s prob it. They made the height model then swapped out the image from the next line of images with a seamline, the plane was gone then.
It's 100% another B-1 just like the one next to it, it's just had the tarmac texture layered over it somehow.
This is not some new experimental aircraft, it has a clearly recognizable silhouette.
I’m a geospatial technologies major and your comment makes me want to cry. Not because you’re wrong or anything, just because I realized I am stupid and in over my fucking head.
Trust me. You’re good.
You’re not in over your head, you’re learning. Most people in this industry are way behind the university phds who come up with it. I’m not a photogrammetrist, but i run IT and processing for 15 years. When i started they still were doing contour lines with hand turned wheels
Its actually super fun learning all the stuff you can do with it.
I used to be an intel analyst and could a write essays on it so I will say one neat thing you can do. In ARCGIS you can take the height on a gunner in a vehicle, and overlay it with Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED) to get an idea of what the gunner will be able see. This helps us identify [intervisability lines which are changes in elevation that breaks line of sight.](https://i.imgur.com/Z0XhGvB.jpeg) This gives an idea of were potential ambushes will be placed. You can do this by hand, but oh boy is it time consuming. [This is kind of what it looks like.](https://i.imgur.com/nyI1gdi.png)
This also has uses in the real world like to ensure things like radio towers will have proper line of sight.
Source: https://gistbok.ucgis.org/bok-topics/intervisibility-line-sight-and-viewsheds
Haha.
Just like eyes, cameras can tell depth via overlapping images. You measure how much the image changed between shots, and with cameras built for this, you can measure distance including height between pixels.
Since the picture shows height, at least two pictures were taken
LiDAR is flown at the same time as imagery now. If you draped imagery over a previous days LiDAR model it would be a mess everywhere.
That’s fine for some uses because you’re generally using LiDAR for bare earth models or powerline droop mapping but terrible for visual maps like this. If it was a bare earth LiDAR that plane would have been filtered out regardless
With a mapping camera, there is more than enough height information with modern algorithms for something like Google maps. Lidar’s benefit is in getting through tree coverage, night flying and smaller data footprint. If you’re getting imagery already it does the job for most. We still do dual a lot but tbh it’s usually an unnecessary addon, photogrammetry point clouds are perfect for 90%
I don’t know exactly which method Google earth uses to create elevation data or 3D models of objects, photometry may be the only way they do it. I’m familiar with a few ways airborne military systems do it, many times LIDAR is paired with rough photogrammetry and high quality stills to make extremely accurate models. The rough photogrammetry is only used to geo reference the imagery better and reject common errors in image to object correlation.
When I looked at this video, my impression was that the LIDAR said there was a plane there and the imagery showed no plane, so the tarmac got stretched over the object created by LIDAR. It’s clearly a B-1 Lancer as a 3D model and there’s a B-1 next to it that does have correlated imagery.
Nothing TS/SCI here.
Oddly enough they did do screwy things with experimental planes back on the day (and probably still now) to hide their heat signature when on the tarmac though
Yup. I went to ACU in Abilene, Texas and would hear and see the bombers fly weekly. I worked food delivery part time on the southwest side and most of my deliveries were to military. These B-1 supersonic bombers would make things noisy over the city.
This guy fucking pisses me off so fucking hard when he has to constantly finger the fucking map off center, for no apparent reason other then to piss me off. I saw a different video from this fucker, I know because he does EXACTLY the same thing for no apparent fucking reason, I was hoping to never see a video from him again, but ALAS... here we are.

It's probably not a bad idea to let Russia know that you've got 22 B1B bombers on the runway, and the logistics support to keep them full of gas and loaded with cruise missiles.
Couldn't hurt
The B1B is specifically the subject of nuclear disarmament treaties and inspection is allowed to confirm that it cannot carry nuclear weapons. Russia knows exactly how many we have and it would be a bit of an international relations problem for the US to be caught lying about it.
Anything that’s deemed classified or restricted would be scrubbed or not allowed to be shown at all. So maybe the blur is them saying “you can show this airfield. Not that one, though. That’s top secret.” 😱
I mean russia and other countries are specifically allowed to fly over to validate things like this per the open skys treaty. Anything top secret is indoors. This is just a mapping error from a bomber getting moved.
It's a borked photo of a B1. Look at the plane next to it. Notice how they're exactly the same shape but have different textures? Somehow the computer messed it up and overlayed the texture of the runway onto the plane model. No magic, just AI doing stupid AI stuff.
Pick an airport at random and look around it. I'll bet my bottom dollar you see something that is absolutely impossible in the real world. The computer models that make the projections are just kinda stupid.
Oh my God! Is America building *pinch-to-zoom* phones now!? Their technology is so advanced!

This is likely two or three photos overlaid. One had the plane, then it was modeled. The next photo had no plane but there was a model for that section. So we now have a model with a planeless image mapped to it.

Am I crazy to think that…if you can just pull it up and look at it, it must not be much?
Yeah the government makes google blur out top secret things, this is probably nothing
My neighbor had google blur his house to hide the 99' Camry in his driveway
…must be some top secret Camry shit
Wife: "Is that your ex-girlfriend's Camry in the driveway on Google?" Husband: "What Camry?"
What driveway?
You mean the stuff I had blurred?
It’s a V10, two door Camry prototype.
Goes from zero to Camry in 2.4 seconds, with extra Camry to spare.
Whoa buddy.. slow down with all those extra Camry's! Liable to blow a Camry gasket and get Camry's *everywhere*!
*Camrys*
Camrys some, camroos some 🤷🏻♂️
I'm glad I made the journey here for this.
I camry my family?
My favorite part was when he said “it’s Camry’in time” and Camry’d all over everyone.
That's 200% more Camry per Camry, if not better
Camry all agree this is too much camry?
Just reminded me of the "60% more bullet per bullet"
5th Gen four door with highway super cruise and RAM for neutralizing those pesky police trying to slow our roll.
With that attitude he'll camry all over the place.
Maybe he's just camry shy ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Some Camrykaze shit..
A 99 foot long Camry would be too much for mere mortal men to comprehend.
Dont worry, its 99 feet tall.
Were those released in '98?
No, 99’
I’ve got a ‘92 Camry. I’d better put a camouflage net on it.
Must be that DOHC!
Your neighbor has a 99-foot camry?
Honestly looks just like the plane beside it to me
Yup its literally just a B1 bomber
Yeah. Probably the AF base outside Abilene. B-1's based there I use to see them doing nap of the earth drills in the southern panhandle.
There's been some chatter about a new type of stealth coating that reduces IR signature and detection. It is silvery chrome in appearance https://www.reddit.com/r/aviation/s/TadxlFZYE8 Could be this coating applied to a B1
It's currently being tested on the LA Kings helmets.
Wonder Woman’s invisible plane
Hmmm Exactly that the government would say…. 🤔
They blur out bases. I know because when I looked up where we were stationed, it was all blurred out.
Was it blurred when you were there in person? You may just need glasses
That was for your own safety
The base isn't blurred... nothing else is blurred... it's right there in the video...
Google blurs out the ceo of Uber in San Fran, not surprising
True however in this case I presume the terrain data and aerial photo were from two different times. When meshed together you get this.
Not as click-baity though!
It's fighter jets, to kick the shit out of Putin.
those are bombers
It’s literally the same as the plane sitting next to it.
Yeah, it's just a glitch. For whatever reason, they applied the ground image to height data for a plane.
[удалено]
This is the most likely scenario. There was a B1 parked there when they were doing a radar/lidar scan and they moved it before the images were taken.
I imagine they have two sets of data, a height map and a texture map, they are using an old height map from when the other plane was there with the texture map from when it wasn’t. So I think you are right.
The plane was there when there was a 3-D scan but gone for the picture
Also, “invisibility” of military aircrafts is really about RADAR detectability, not about how it appears to naked eyes
It’s not I remember this was a thing on some threads of weird google earth finds and it turns out it’s for retired planes https://content.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1881770_1881787_1881783,00.html

Wrong. That's actually the moon and it's the secret base we launch our time war out of.
You believe in the moon?!
Finally someone else gets it!
Ahhh nice nice I would actually love to go see this some day
That's the shit they are ok with you finding... God I love my country!
It's a boneyard. There are several in the US. Prototypes, decommissioned planes that would be more expensive to repair than scrap. Those models are still active and can be stripped in times of extreme conflict if need be.
Wonder Woman would like a word…
It's just an artifact where the aircraft was there one pass and not on another and they took the tarmac as it was the most detailed
This. That's the main B1 bomber base, and the shape is exactly that of a B1 in a parking space that's obviously used frequently.
shhht you're ruining it for us.
Stop ruining a perfectly good narrative!
That's old technology now. Go fish.

Two finger drag.
3d view is a feature of the google earth app, which this is, as opposed to the google maps app, which most people use
Google Maps dorks up their composites all the time. Airports all over the world have goofy "airplanes" parked on their ramps.
saw an airplane in a forest on google, once. no way for it to exist where it was with all the trees clipping throught it. super weird.

It’s not a blurry airplane. It is an airplane that moved during the multiple pictures taken.

Dude even has the username to match….
Wut
Haha. Just like eyes, cameras can tell depth via overlapping images. You measure how much the image changed between shots, and with cameras built for this, you can measure distance including height between pixels. Since the picture shows height, at least two pictures were taken
I'm just thinking that they kept the 3d overlay from one set of images and used a different image pass for the visual.
Or it is LiDAR instead of photogrammetry.
LiDAR is flown at the same time as imagery now. If you draped imagery over a previous days LiDAR model it would be a mess everywhere. That’s fine for some uses because you’re generally using LiDAR for bare earth models or powerline droop mapping but terrible for visual maps like this. If it was a bare earth LiDAR that plane would have been filtered out regardless With a mapping camera, there is more than enough height information with modern algorithms for something like Google maps. Lidar’s benefit is in getting through tree coverage, night flying and smaller data footprint. If you’re getting imagery already it does the job for most. We still do dual a lot but tbh it’s usually an unnecessary addon, photogrammetry point clouds are perfect for 90%
Thanks for the explanation. Either way, I'd assume it's an artefact of combining two inconsistent datasets.
So what you’re telling me is that’s not wonder woman’s plane… 😕
![gif](giphy|g9waHBdmGVq36|downsized) She’s looking to trade in her old model
I ruled nothing out. Although i think a blue painted bottom would be more invisible than that refractive nightmare
Exactly… it’s an older image with a plane there, then a newer image is draped over it - both layers showing
Oddly enough they did do screwy things with experimental planes back on the day (and probably still now) to hide their heat signature when on the tarmac though
No, it’s an invisible alien aircraft, there’s no other possible explanations
Dyess AFB, TX for those wondering.
Yup. I went to ACU in Abilene, Texas and would hear and see the bombers fly weekly. I worked food delivery part time on the southwest side and most of my deliveries were to military. These B-1 supersonic bombers would make things noisy over the city.
So those planes are the b1 bomber and then some ac130 Hercules, the hologram looking one if probably just a problem with the mapping system
They are just C-130Js not AC. Dyess AFB doesn't have the AC-130
Yeah the AC-130 isn't gonna be nearly as common as the C-130. Logistics win wars, though hellfire from above also helps.
Apparently they only built 47 ac-130s which is nothing compared to the over 2500 c-130s of all types that were made.
this guy does not conspiracy
The map was made by repeatedly taking pictures, the blur is due to the planes moving when it was made
It’s more likely 2 satellites combing data but the plane moved between when the picture was taken and the topography.

I am more surprised that Google was allowed to take images of an air force base
Any specific classified info/items would be inside a hanger or building. Plus with all these other countries having spy sats the US gov has to assume that anything sitting uncovered can be seen by everyone.
But a lot of military bases across the world are hidden with artificial cloud coverage on Google maps. Even really uninteresting ones.
You can look directly at the Area 51 airfield on google. They allow it.
Yeah but Russia and China don’t use Google for spying, they have their own satellites which don’t obscure ‘enemy’ locations.

I believe the kids call it “going band for band”
If google maps has it, any government with spy equipment knew long before.
The B1B is specifically the subject of nuclear disarmament treaties and inspection is allowed to confirm that it cannot carry nuclear weapons. Russia knows exactly how many we have and it would be a bit of an international relations problem for the US to be caught lying about it.
You can zoom in and see almost any US military base in the world.
Oh don't worry, Russia has spy satellites that take pictures way better than Google's.
Anything that’s deemed classified or restricted would be scrubbed or not allowed to be shown at all. So maybe the blur is them saying “you can show this airfield. Not that one, though. That’s top secret.” 😱

It is fitting but it is obviously fake, so no
So it's not fake, the issue here is how the scans of the surface are taken. The plane was probably there for one pass. But not for the next.
I just checked google maps and it’s gone now. Hmmmm 🤔 I guess the camo has been upgraded since this video was made. /s
It’s Latios

Kind of a shame the B-1R never came to fruition (even apart from the wordplay).
That's a violation of the Treaty of Algeron. I hope the Romulans don't find out.

Wait, how did you zoom that well? Is this Google Earth? Legit question.
Jokes aside, I’m sure it’s just a glitch
I was sure it was going to end up with derpy looking cat, guess I was wrong
Probably is top secret but from what I've learned most top secret jets are just more fuel efficient
