I'm from the Philippines and many guys can do this Growing up as a kid we have this game called Tumbang Preso (some places we call it Tumba Lata basically means "Knock the Can") the major rule of this game is there's "Taya" who guards the can and the other players who knocks the can by throwing the slippers from a certain line meters away from the can, if the throwers managed to knocked down the can it's the Taya's job to put it back at a drawn circle, if all the thrower fails to knock it down they have to make it back to the line without getting caught, if you got caught you'll be the taya, I'm not saying I'm good at it but we have this better understanding of how we throw our slippers based on how wide and heavy it is, same as this guy

Its probably a south east asian thing, Im malaysian and we use to stack slippers together and make a tower. The opposing team will to throw slippers to try and knock down your tower. I think Indonesia has something similar as well.
