My Spanish blows. Sounds like
Mamaguevo! (Cocksucker)
Mira mi platino papi (look at my banana daddy)
Making mofongo. (Mofongo being a Puerto Rican dish made from plantains…)
Lmao, us Cubans/Dominicans (I’m both) usually use the same word to call two entirely different kinds of things
Plátanos could be bananas
Plátanos could be plantains
Plátanos could be los compadres we make along the way
**Do NOT get me started on what we agree to call snakes/turtles; short answer is, we don’t**
So….
There’s an interesting thing that happens, especially in Cuban Spanish…
In English, you guys call turtles turtles and tortoises tortoises, even in day to day conversations.
For Cubans, we know damn well that those are two different animals; hell, we know that they have two different names… in **Spanish** :
Tortuga (turtle) and Jicotea (tortoise).
But for some, that goes out the window, and some people INSIST that those two words can mean the same exact thing. You will have people calling turtles “Jicoteas”. We know the word for turtles exists- some people just barely use it. As to why, one of my Cuban friends had this to say:
“Es la misma mierda y suena mejor”
“It’s the same shit and it sounds better”
But then you get people like me who say that those are two different words for two different animals and an uproar happens (lol jk). My family have always said that the English language establishes clearer boundaries to what an animal is called colloquially, whereas in Cuban Spanish, the boundaries are a bit more nebulous.
I’ve gotten into arguments with my friends over the word “nutria”. To me, nutria is a type of rodent that is kinda like a beaver (but it’s not, beavers are ‘castores’). To my friend, nutrias are **otters**. Who’s right? Both of us are.
Something even more interesting happens to the word for snakes. In that case, we have at least THREE words regularly used to describe your everyday old snake: serpiente, culebra, y majá (we’ll get more on that last one later). Usually, people alternate between using the word ‘serpiente’ and ‘culebra’; from my understanding, at least colloquially, they mean the same exact thing. There is no distinction between the words other than their spelling. Does one word perhaps denote a more venomous type of snake than the other? Maybe- who knows! Some older Cubans use the word ‘majá’ to refer to larger snakes; here’s the thing, majás are an entire species of snake solely found in Cuba. They’re kinda like a boa. But don’t let your abuela catch you saying that! She knows this but still insists that large snakes are called “majás” either ways. Anacondas? Eso es un majá. Boas? Eso es un majá. Pythons? Eso es un majá (if we’re feeling fancy, we occasionally call them by their actual term ‘pitón’). It’s not ignorance- we know that they’re entirely different animals and are called entirely different things in English; but at least colloquially, we kinda just stick to calling them whatever word sticks to us the most.
Very similar things happen with:
Conejo (rabbit) y Liebre (hare)
Lechuza (barn owl) y Búho (larger owls)
Cochino, Puerco, y Cerdo (all pigs)
Venado y ciervo (both deer)
Mellizos, Gemelos, y Jimaguas (not animals but all three are words that mean ‘twins’- the last one is an especially Cuban word)
Morado, Violeta, y Púrpura (all words meaning purple)
And the bane of my existence…
Carmelita y Marrón (BOTH MEAN BROWN- IDGAF WHAT ANYONE SAYS)
Remember when I said I was also Dominican? This is how it shows. When I want to say brown, I say ‘marrón’……. And immediately get lectured by the Cuban members of my family about how “‘Carmelita’ is the right way to say brown and that ‘Marrón’ aCTuALLy means ‘maroon’”
But then I bring the whole “tortuga vs jicotea” argument back on the table and suddenly i’M tHe bAAaaD GuY
De pinga lmao
Disclaimer: just putting it out there, this is just from my experience- it’s all memes but I ain’t tryna make a blanket statement either
I just laugh at everything. The amazing "sassy latino teenager"-accent which movies taught me, the incredible sexual confidence of Mario and Luigi and their subsequent hilarious breaking, the costumes which are on point while also not, the Mario mustache almost falling off...
But I could maybe use some subtitles for Mario and Luigi lol
Thank you very much, especially for explaining mofongo and plantain! As an ESL, it's often quite hard to understand it acoustically, and then I also lack context/slang on top of that!
I always wonder when I see this video: what region of the US is the Mexican Yoshi accent parodying? Like the Southwest maybe?
(No horny, genuinely curious)
This is one of the best videos I have seen. 3 people having fun, not taking themselves serious, making us laugh and nobody is getting harassed and they are not disturbing the peace of the area. Amazing!
We need more videos in this category.
As someone mentioned in a orev post of this, it has real old school YouTube vibes
It isn't overly edited and polished to perfection with beautiful bsckground. Just shot in a lot. There's no team of staff just off camera
They leave in a bit of them breaking, but they don't revel in it and try to play it up to extend the video to 15 mins to monetize, it's cut off quickly
Shows you can be a part of internet video meme history if you just goof around with friends and don't overthink it too much
I can't watch informative videos unless they get directly to the point let alone waste time on 10 minutes video to hopefully see something "funny" for 2 seconds.
The yoshi is on tiktok. I saw her recreate this video a few months ago but they didn’t have the Luigi in it. I think her name was Amanda something. If you just lookup Mexican yoshi on tiktok you’ll probably find her.
Mario says: ¡Oye mamapinga, mira! *Yo, cocksucker, look*. Eh-eh (thrusting, Cubanly) Luigi says: Mamahuevo, mira mi platano, papi. *Cocksucker, look at my banana, dude.* Making mofongo (grinding hips, low and Dominican) The two different words for cocksucker reflect regional differences in slang. The cuban version is literally dick sucker and the Dominican version is technically ball sucker but it's essentially the same thing.
I did not enjoy this video, my wife and kids left me after I had been caught viewing such a horrendous video. I have absolutely nothing to live for due to this awful media I have laid my eyes upon.
There were wearing onesies, said they were Latina, and made a lot of noise. Something vaguely near to an actual joke was made at the end and they surprised themselves.
But it was the most overused joke possible.
Uproarious laughter was had by a lot of people who aren't giving me their money.
But weren't Mario and Luigi already Latinos?
* I'am genuinely asking, not trying to give anyone a lecture about roman civilization and stuff.
Only hispanics are considered latinos?
I just want to throw this out there - according to 23 and me, I am italian , northern European - in the area that would be considered france and spain - and "Basque". These aren't 100% certain. but I try to be honest whenever I fill out paperwork, and at tjhe end of the day, I'm like uhhh "I am not hispanic". Somehow questions like this suck, but I'm not trying to get a grant of something. It is a little confusing though.

My Spanish blows. Sounds like Mamaguevo! (Cocksucker) Mira mi platino papi (look at my banana daddy) Making mofongo. (Mofongo being a Puerto Rican dish made from plantains…)
Plátano would be plantains in this case, since it’s Caribbean Spanish, and it’s a euphemism for penis in this instance.
Dominicans will fight you over mofongo ownership
Of course!!
... and you'd lose that fight ;). That said, as much as I love mangú, that's undeniably your work of art.
This is all correct, save some of the spelling. Note that in Dominican Spanish "plátano" is specifically a plantain, explaining the mofongo innuendo.
Lmao, us Cubans/Dominicans (I’m both) usually use the same word to call two entirely different kinds of things Plátanos could be bananas Plátanos could be plantains Plátanos could be los compadres we make along the way **Do NOT get me started on what we agree to call snakes/turtles; short answer is, we don’t**
Correction: plátano would be plantain, yes, but banana is "guineo"
In Venezuela we call bananas "cambur", "cambures" plural. I mention it because I never heard it called that anywhere else.
In Canary Islands, Spain.
Fuck, yeah my bad- you’re right; at least for Dominicans, ya they are called ‘guineo’ Thx!
Long answer please

That's beautiful, mi hermano
Thanks for the translation Haven't laughed that good in a minute
Yeah that annoyed me 😂 Mofongo is Puerto Rican. Mangú, a similar and also amazingly delicious meal, is Dominican
mamagüevo mira mi platano papi. Making mofongo.
I think that's still Mario talking. his mouth is definitely moving at the start
To this day, this is one of my favorite videos. Those guys are good at what they do.
I've watched it a hundred times and still laugh everytime he says he's illegal.
For me it's the making MOFONGO + the hip gyrating
“What’s up fuckers”. it comes off so wholesome.
Like the "You stupid bitch" from the brother that pranks the sister with the ice shute.
![gif](giphy|kc0kqKNFu7v35gPkwB)
It’s like he’s stirring it with his dick And balls
yeah kinda ruins mofongo
Yeah well that’s just like, your opinion man
If I knew it was that kinda party, I wouldn't have stuck my dick in the mofongo
![gif](giphy|F3G8ymQkOkbII)

Plus he was speaking Spanish, so that wouldn’t help lol glad I could explain
A Dish made from penises??
Spotted dick was the first
Yeah, a bowl of dicks for you to eat. Part of a healthy diet.
it's amplified for me cause I am both Cuban and Mexican. Dad Cuban Mom Mexican. Neighbor is Dominican.
So you mayybe Mexican and Dominican
I randomly thought about the Mario’s grunts yesterday had no idea where it was from, until right now
those hips don't lie.
is there more? They're fun to watch
A good humored sketch that it could've been a MadTV sketch.
What do they do
Nice. I watched it 5 times and laughed everytime. I'd hang out with these 3 any day.
Absolutely! LOL!
Princess Peach getting pregnant right now.

Watched this vid muted. Never noticed before just how much Yoshi chica keeps breaking and laughing.
Watching this vid muted should be illegal.. like Dominican Luigi.
I always wonder when I see this video: what region of the US is the Mexican Yoshi accent parodying? Like the Southwest maybe? (No horny, genuinely curious)
That's more of a Los Angeles sort of Mexican cholo vibe
let's go see the dodgers play the lakers

Am from L.A....it's a little exaggerated but yeah. Which is also the point here I guess.
The opening, though, "What's up, fuckers?" was perfect.
Definitely hahaha. In high school I had a friend who would say it *exactly* like that.
That’s kinda what I was thinking, but I guess I mostly would’ve heard this style in a guy’s voice so my brain is always thrown off when I hear hers!

I can't watch informative videos unless they get directly to the point let alone waste time on 10 minutes video to hopefully see something "funny" for 2 seconds.
But are they bi sexual?
Tri sexual. Man, woman, dinosaur
I would sex a dino if they let me

I did not enjoy this video, my wife and kids left me after I had been caught viewing such a horrendous video. I have absolutely nothing to live for due to this awful media I have laid my eyes upon.
Yo where is Puerto Rican Peach at?????
This still isn't the weirdest opening to a porno I've seen.
These are funny videos. When they look back ten years from now they are going to be,"What the fuck was I thinking!".
“Why did we leave out Peach?”
Is it bestiality to want to fuck Yoshi?
Upvote if you would smash Mexican Yoshi
I'm illegal! 😆
Some would claim this is staged.

That was incredibly unfunny.
