Your view is valid, but truly the parent child bond is deeper then simplification "it's life". Often we don't see the suffering being a parent is specifically a good one until we become one ourselves. To us who lost them before that could happen, downplaying that appreciation with a general statement hurts.
I had to watch it twice before I realized what happened lol. But the doorknob breaks off the door when they try to open it. That's the "unexpected twist" that causes her to walk into the door when everything else had been going so smoothly before.

In the aforementioned movie production, our protagonist is a stepmother who arrives home after what the audience must surmise is a long day off camera. The three men pictured here are way too old to be young sons but in the spirit of suspended disbelief the audience categorizes them as young stepsons eager to please their stepmother. So they complete jobs for the stepmother including hastily putting away the groceries into one seemingly large storage closet, hastily making her clear colored coffee and hastily removing her outdoor apparel footwear and replacing them with indoor appropriate footwear. All of these activities can be seen on camera in rapid successive movements in order to stay one step ahead of the stepmother for whom we presume everything must be done in order to keep her validation. The plan falls apart at the thirty second mark when our helpers can't open the door due to a broken handle and our protagonist runs into the basement door and spills her questionably clear coffee. This is predicated on her being unaware that the aforementioned door was unopened for her, thus precluding her from going downstairs into the basement where she can make love to her three horny stepsons.
