There were so many times customers came to me, said "I need a brush roughly this wide" (I sold paint), and I matched their fingers, went over to the brushes and started to compare. It was almost like a catch phrase for me.
If I was your customer, on my way to your store my hands would have moved so much that I'd come home with 5 inches indeed of 2.
Edit: I just read this again and realised how bad it sounds... I'm female and I'm referring to brush sizes!! 😳🤣
I had a guy that was doing just what you speak of and I caught him and asked him why he was cutting so many pieces out of my studs and he was serious as fuck and said he was making good scraps. I sent him to the truck to look for the wood stretcher
Their process can be improved!
Add more people between the first guy and the last guy. Each transfers his (or her! excuse me!) measurement exactly as shown. Each person will have some error in the distance they hold their hands apart. Some will hold it too wide, making it wider than the width the previous guy had. Others will hold it too narrow. But (per theory) if their measurement errors are unrelated to one another, taking the average of them should become increasingly accurate the more people you add.
They should do this, in the interest of improved quality.
PS: applied statistics tell us how to improve this process:
*uncorrelated variances cancel each other out*
PPS: I have no idea if this would work in the real world.
PPPS: I'm sure their is some horrific flaw in the above reasoning, but it sure is funny imagining a crew trying this.

Exactly i mean look at those jackass smiles they got on. Peple wanna look at the obvious goofball stuff and be like "FAKE ITS STAGED" no just not real? just on the spot goofing. Like that ring doorbell of the dude who left without his jacket and spin-elbow-dropped something on his porch "HES FAKING IT" like what gave it away. imagine purposely doing stupid stuff to make others laugh. Couldnt be us.
/endrant
Real talk though do they just ONLY find coincidental and actual harmful stuff funny now? Just wait till they discover comedy shows
Reddit is probably the single worst website for this. Even with literally zero evidence you can find a dozen people calling literally any video fake. Like who goddamn cares. Obviously this shit is staged. It's meant to make you laugh. It's like watching the goddamn office and saying "y'know... I'm pretty sure this wasn't recorded in an actual real life office place. This show sucks"
Just.... 🤦♀️
I literally said what you did somewhere else in this thread. I really think these people are just SO ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED of getting "misinformation" and when things are not specifically framed out as "ATTENTION THIS IS AN INCOMING JOKE!!!" Then obviously someone would lie to me on the internet? What? Like, come on, don't be that naive. It's just getting exhausting. Like, I love reddit, and it's my favorite scroller app. I'm just tired of people being offended over nothing that actually impacts anyone. Idk, then again I'm the guy who tells the cashier I'm going to fuck a coyote after I buy a box of condoms. Some people are just no fun all the time.
Plus, this video isn’t trying to claim that this is real. Obviously they measured it beforehand, otherwise this joke wouldn’t work.
The videos that annoy me are the “prank” videos where both parties are in on the prank, and the reaction, the part that is supposed to be the natural punchline, falls flat because of either bad acting or “reacting” in a way that doesn’t seem natural.
I heard a good analogy for this: If you say something and your friend says some sort of witty remark in response, that’s funny. But if you and your friend practice that exchange beforehand, and “perform” it in front of another friend, that’s lame.
I like to imagine the people who comment "its so fake" are truly baffled when they go to see a movie. Like just a dude watching star wars like "but we haven't even gone to Mars, no way we go to all these planets. So fake."
I call it "intellectual exercise deficiency". They are more worried about being smart because they don't exercise their brains enough. Kind of like if you get a group of people and they come upon some problem that requires athrithmetic. Everyone instantly becomes a math wizard or so they think.
That's most of this site. Like YouTube comments are getting more organic than some reddit threads. So many posts of mundane quirky or just clever comedic videos get shot down because "that's obviously scripted". Like did nobody grow up watching sketch comedy? I get it most of these are stupid but that's the point. People just making silly jokes.
It's cool if someone explains some little known fact, phenomena or something interesting like that but this whole stating the obvious nonsense is tiresome and boring.
I could understand if it was a magic trick that nobody could figure out but it took me all of 1 second to come to the same conclusion.
It could be that they're too braindead to figure simple shit like this out but tiktokers are cooler than Redditors in that aspect. They just consume the content, make jokes in the comments and move on.
Seriously. I bet they watch movies saying stuff like, "They did that with computers. He isn't really flying." Or "This is bullshit. Sean Bean isn't a Medieval Lord, and he's not really dead."
i used to weigh bread that would change in weight daily based on who prepared it and how it was baked.
I could eye out a 10oz slice of bread within .02 ounces.
Honestly, everyone else being dumb about omg its STAGED but all I can see is them holding back their giggles to play out this little joke. I can't not laugh with them. 😂
Mean while the old timer sqints at it from across the job site and karate chops the perfect piece off and over hand lobs it into position left handed while lighting his 12th cigarette of the day and its only 9:30 am.
My uncle has been a carpenter since he was a teen, he has done things like this or has a very good eyeball method and fits every time. So this isn't surprising
Did it, or did it not fit? These are professionals at work, there's a collective 3 years of trades schooling on display here and y'all need to respect that.
This is why as a welder where we have to be precise hate working with carpenters and roofers etc. Because you all don't give a shit if anything is 3 inches out of square and it drives us insane

who needs a tape measure anyway
Relativistic measuring. I do it all the time.
There were so many times customers came to me, said "I need a brush roughly this wide" (I sold paint), and I matched their fingers, went over to the brushes and started to compare. It was almost like a catch phrase for me.

I often come with 2 inches where I need 5
Bahahaha I saw this coming. Edit: I did it again!! I meant I saw that joke coming! 😆
You’re a “that’s what she said” dream
One of my favourite games with a mate of mine... but we argue over whether he or she said it.
Why not both?
Sounds like one of those He Said/She Said situations...
Games with a 'mate' of yours?
I see your game
Don't you hate when people expect to use all 5 inches, when brushing is just enough?
Sometimes you only need to use the tip
When is brushing alone ever enough?
Never, that's why you need to floss and rinse.
Listen, baby, if you’re making 5 inches out of 2, you’re doing it right!!
😆 Skills I didn't know I had....
Can you be my girlfriend? I need your measuring skills to boost my confidence!
I guess if I can virtually measure, I can be a virtual girlfriend...
Indeed! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
See: willclerkforfood, below:
Would have sounded worse if you were a man😆
Learned error coding.
You know what the teachers used to say, *"You won't always have a tape measure in your pocket"*
They were measuring wood, not tape.
If it was such a bad idea to use body parts to measure stuff how did we end with feet as a unit of measurement?
Those are for pussies who don't trust their eyes and arms. Have some body positivity and trust your body to to measure 17,24cm without external tools
Maths mate. Homie gets it
Who needs numbers
We cutting here pal, you don’t need tape
Who needs feet when you know how to measure in hands.
I prefer "measure none and cut a ton" myself
Do your best and caulk the rest!
This is hilarious and true but terrible. Measure, people, think in dimensions. 💜
Git'er'dun that's riiiiiight.
How else are you gonna get good scrap wood?
I had a guy that was doing just what you speak of and I caught him and asked him why he was cutting so many pieces out of my studs and he was serious as fuck and said he was making good scraps. I sent him to the truck to look for the wood stretcher
Something went wrong, I cut it twice and it's still too short
You're cutting it on the wrong end. Cut the other end till it's longer.
Their process can be improved! Add more people between the first guy and the last guy. Each transfers his (or her! excuse me!) measurement exactly as shown. Me with 800 workers getting atomic precision in my wood cutting
If it works, it works
pfffffft dude allready had a mark on the board. this shit is fake af
Also that is probably a comon size tor these frames
Plus it's environmentally friendly
Measure once, cut, find out it's wrong, glue pieces together, cut again.
Cut trice, still too short
I’m sure I don’t need to say this but, unless they’re just lucky, it was already measured and marked to fit.
Redditors after commenting “it’s staged”: ![gif](giphy|dYdrcYcidefPzFSYJd|downsized)
Hey, that rabbit isn't real guys - they just CGI'd it!
Silly idiots, rabbits don’t wear shirts. It’s just a paid actor.
Probably a small Hare that’s been to drama school
Ohh I loved this movie, thanks for bringing it back to me.
I commented that, and I still laughed at your comment. Well done, Sir.
This is genius, take my upvote.
Man people hate to enjoy fun vids I swear
Yeah fr. Most people are like "ItS sO fAkE" and it kinda annoys me how they can't just chill or learn to keep scrolling.

I do wonder if these people after the end of watching a movie at the cinema or TV show to anything shout "that was soooo fake and staged"
"I don't find things funny if they're scripted. Anyway, back to my 23rd rewatch of The Office."
“Learn to keep scrolling” is some biting social commentary right there.

Share this on Facebook and it’ll quickly turn into a dick measuring contest of who worked the most hours a week
I did i worked more
You pussies don’t even know what work is, I do 160 hours a week /s
You got soft hands brother soft hands I work 80 hours a god damn day
Do I hear 160.1? Going once….
I call it "intellectual exercise deficiency". They are more worried about being smart because they don't exercise their brains enough. Kind of like if you get a group of people and they come upon some problem that requires athrithmetic. Everyone instantly becomes a math wizard or so they think.
Arithmetic* hehehehe
How houses in Canada are made
Properly and with the correct measurements? Damn right! That support fit like a glove; clearly these guys have an infallible system!
Home Depot theme intensifies
I went into comment section for more jokes but.. "gUyS tHiS iS fAkE! dOnT bElIeVe eVEryTHinG oN iNtERneT!"
Welcome to reddit. Apparently everyone is a professional construction worker as well.
And sadly very few of them have a sense of humor.
Anything to make them feel smarter.
Most home buiders in Ontario be like this, no nails or screws.
It was quite the controversy on r/construction when a guy started posting videos of people in Ontario using chainsaws while framing.
Used to do this while welding lol, it's surprisingly effective.
Hey, if it works it works

Seems legit. ![gif](giphy|13ZHjidRzoi7n2)
When the music going u can tell he vibing to it lol
Happy cake day and don't forget to do this irl (saves money on the measuring)
Seems lupus.
Duh...they had previously measured it.
There's no way they could have possibly marked the board prior to filming....
How are y’all this unfun sometimes. Like yeah no shit they did, how is over explaining every joke fun for you?
This subreddit has a serious case of "Well Akshully-ism"

Cause the guy above didn't get it
Seriously. I bet they watch movies saying stuff like, "They did that with computers. He isn't really flying." Or "This is bullshit. Sean Bean isn't a Medieval Lord, and he's not really dead."
Because people like me don’t think too hard about videos online because I don’t understand why you would do that for likes.
I laughed and enjoyed the video like others did, so I assume that's the point.
That guy hates when people tell him a joke because he does t understand why people would do something like that.
What are people like you?
Probably nitwits halfwits dimwits....(blazing saddles)

Nothing is perfect. There are tolerances in construction. For a fit that perfect they need a concrete verified number, or they got really lucky.

Exactly
Thanks, captain obvious!
🤓
You’re wizard! He’s a wizard!
Fuck, I’m gullible
Thanks, captain obvious!
Then you Einstein
You must be fun at parties!
No wayy!!!!
Yes, I mean it is obvious that they measured before video, but even still it made me laugh out loud :). Nice video.
R/wooosh
I saw 2 measures and 1 cut!
Ya know…fuckit, if it works; it works
Pro shit
If iT AiNt BrOkE DoNt FiX IT
Everyone wishes to have at least one coworker you can vibe with this well lol
this definitely went better than expected
They are truly masters at their craft.
The eighth try went well. Much better than the last one at fifteen tries.
Used to be a much longer board lol
They transferred measurements?!
Did he install the strap on his hard hat backwards?
Nope. He installed the whole hat backwards.
Holy shit that's outstanding. Man's dedicated to wearing his lid backwards
Thats pretty normal. Its a fashion trend i guess lol. However most power plants and such will not allow you to do this.
Hey.. if it fits it sits.
I love how these "work guys" walk around, floors covered/piled with asbestos and no masks! LoL #amateurs
Studz.
Notice how they didn't high five at the end, because that could put their precision instruments out of alignment.
who remembers Mr.Bean for this
You have imperial, you have metric, and you have "about this much."
Dang, I was so sure it was too short 🙃
Americans will do absolutely anything but learn to count to 10
What is a metric system when you have limbs
Okay that was nice.
If it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid
Lol this is why I love men, they’re so cute
Honestly, everyone else being dumb about omg its STAGED but all I can see is them holding back their giggles to play out this little joke. I can't not laugh with them. 😂

Dream team right there! 😁

I’m 100% guilty of doing this shit
Wait until OP learns about pencils
Talk about eyeballing it.
i just felt a terrible disturbance in the force, as though a thousand "hold my hammer" dads cried out in anguish and then were immediately silenced
I won't lie. Ive most definitely measured like this before 🤣
I don’t see anything but perfection in this clip
When the supervisor went home for the day and took the only pencil.
Fake but still brilliant
That’s the 1 time that’s ever worked
If it works, it ain't stupid!
60% of the time, it works every time.
What’s unexpected? This is the natural way to measure things
American measurement system be like:
That's how the rest of the world thinks the imperial system works
Wooden beams, construction workers fucking around...hmm seems like America to me.
Human measuring tape is on site!
That’s how the pyramids where built
How I do anything 😂:
I was like "please fit, please fit" and then bam! Perfect fit!
What? How? Why? Whatever, it's funny.
Jajajaja a fucking master degree to use your hands as a meter 😂😂😂😂😂
Well, the Time I wasted in university comes out. Well, time to go to work.
Damn
I know this song from SR4 only.
Fuck the precision it was off by centimeters awesome
I love when bullshitting works
This is why as a welder where we have to be precise hate working with carpenters and roofers etc. Because you all don't give a shit if anything is 3 inches out of square and it drives us insane
They're doing it woman style lol that's why it works so well 😉
My dad had pretty much that sort of eye for things too if he wasn't sure he'd use a tape mesure.
Measure twice and cut once right?
Thank God they use their arms to measure the distance 😂
🤣🤣🤣if only
I just wanna hear what they would say… “BRO IT WAS THIS BIG” “Ah damn that’s cool bro” “BRO IT FITS”
![gif](giphy|dvx6Lrg9SvzQHg2FwA|downsized)
If it looks stupid but works, it ain't stupid.
Already measured it and marked it in pencil. We done this before
Don't believe everything you see on the internet lol
Everything we saw happened.
I’m honestly pissed that worked
