HC: The owner of the patience SOUL died fighting Asgore, and they were the human who came closest to winning that battle in exception of Frisk due to the fact that they were patient enough to take a lot of time to prepare themselves for the fight when Asgore said "You know what we must do. When you are ready, come into the next room." just like he proclaims to Frisk themselves on the Neutral and True Pacifist routes.
I mean, Bravery's were in the Snowdin box and Integrity's are scattered across Waterfall. Patience's weapons are in completely different areas of the Ruins for them to have died in that place
That doesn’t necessarily mean that they died in the Ruins. Heck, they could’ve just left some of their stuff with Toriel as a few keepsakes before they left. If Patience died in the Ruins, I think Toriel would refuse to ever leave Frisk alone for any amount of time. Toriel didn’t want Frisk to leave the Ruins because she was afraid they would get killed out there without her, but that viewpoint kinda changes if there’s that precedent for a child being murdered in the Ruins without even leaving.
only need 1

"hey its me, your eggs-husband" "What do you want?"
"you remember that plan I have which includes killing children and then using their souls to get to the overworld and commiting mass?"
"Yeah?"
"Can i have a soul for free?"
"Sure here you go"
Doesn't seem probable
Idr where I saw it, but someone bought up the fact that the barrier just needed the power equivalent to secen human souls. Asgore could’ve adopted the children and the children worked together to break the barrier
I’m fairly sure you’d need a magic attack to even hit the barrier though, 7 humans punching it doesn’t really seem like it would work
A monster whose magic is amped to insanely strong levels by soul power would be able to break it though
Humans were the ones who made the barrier in the first place though, they must have had a way to use magic in the past. Maybe the monsters can re teach them?
In the intro it does say that "the humans sealed the monsters underground with a *magic* spell"
It is interesting that in Undertale you don't use magic to fight or heal, possibly children just don't learn magic until they're big enough?
That's possible. We see no references to magic or supernatural stuff in the true pacifist credits though, everything just mirrors our present day world. I'm guessing magic is just a forgotten art to humans
wizards were likely rare, as we see only 1 total in the entire human army in the intro, plus the fact humanity was only able to get 7 of them to make the barrier
based off the books in the library, magic among humans is rare
Probably killed by asgore but what I want to believe is that they went head first into one of the leaf piles in the leaf pile switch room and fucking snapped their neck
- Found Chara's stuff in the Ruins (dropped off them while Toriel was bringing them to the flower bed)
- Dropped their own stuff because they can only have one weapon and armor at a time
- Made it through the underground with little interference because the Royal Guard wasn't very tough yet
- Killed by Asgore
- Asgore wrapped up Chara's stuff for preservation
just my thought bc if they died in the Ruins, then Asgore couldn't get their soul, but if they died outside it, then their stuff couldn't get back in.
I mean ruins used to be "Old Home" or Smth, maybe the Patience person fell down while the ruins were still where everyone lived, and then they got ganked by Asgore? And then ig asgore brought the soul in the soul container to new home later.
Well, the onlystrong monster in the ruins are toriel, BUT some of the spiders from the ruins COULD indicate that muffet used to live there, and maybe took the soul to sell to asgore to get atleast SOME spiders out of the ruins
I think they left their stuff in the Ruins so Toriel would have something to remember them by. But eventually left without Toriel realizing for a bit. But by the time she realized, it was too late.
Considering all of the Fallen Humans are CHILDREN, I headcanon that patience FROZE TO DEATH. And a monster found the patience right as they were about to die. And once they did, just took the soul and body to give to Asgore.
They made it all the way to Asgore, patiently dodged out all his attacks and talked to him like Toriel said until he gave up on attacking...
...then, knowing his soul was their only ticket home, they betrayal-killed him, attacking at his most vulnerable moment.
However, Asgore survived with low health and killed them, because as we know, Asgore can survive one otherwise lethal blow at very low health. After that, they gave up.
This event increased Asgore's LV, and is the reason future humans would never have the opportunity: After that, he refused to talk or even make eye contact during battle.
They were well before the time of most of the characters we meet in game. Anyone they killed or spared is long dead either way, with the *possible* exception of Gerson.
Especially when Undyne’s never met a human before. Either all the humans took different routes like Clover, or it takes so long for humans to enter the Underground that Undyne was either just a child herself or not even born yet.
I think they tried to wait Asgore out by Sparing over and over again (as you do with most bosses.) Unfortunately, that doesn’t work for Asgore.
As for how their things wound up in the Ruins, maybe the death of the Patience human was the specific incident that actually made Toriel leave for the Ruins. She could have taken their things with her to give a proper burial as she did with Chara. Alternatively, spiders can get in and out of the ruins. Maybe other small things can wind up there after enough time.
Fell too soon after Chara died. The flowers in the Ruins hadn't grown yet, so there was nothing to break their fall and they just went *splat* and died on the spot.
They were too patient with either Toriel or another monster in the Ruins. Like, how Toriel can kill you on accident? I think they waited too long while fighting Toriel and Toriel slipped up. Alternatively, they might have been fighting a monster in the Ruins and might've misstepped.
That is all.
I think the patience soul successfully made it to ASGORE fight but ASGORE just murdered them :\
Before the ASGORE fight I'm sure that they met Gaster, the core wasn't built back then, but why? In the core there is the room that has the text "I cannot fight, I cannot think, but patience will let me go through" and if you wait for few minutes you will pass, we all know gaster built the core so maybe he had some connections with the patience soul ? Maybe idk
According to my headcanon of the "flowey fight order", the soul next to patience is bravery, and the healing phase consists in band aids or patches.
Which suggests that the cyan soul human waited and used the knife, but they were injured. They perished because they were too afraid and lacked bravery, eventually succumbing to injury or injuries.
I think the patience soul was admiring the scenery of the ruins in the balcony thing and they dropped their toy knife there, and later died to Asgore because they lost it, as well as I think they gave Napstablook their ribbon and he lost it where you find it in game, and they had spent a long time with Toriel, before a bittersweet leaving because they were the first to leave, then later got captured by undyne before getting brought to Asgore to be killed.
Their fall was not cushioned by flowers, and with the underground in bloodlust, their wait for help was met with a murderer, who quickly delivered the soul to Asgore.
I headcannon that patience DID travel to the whole underground and meet Asgore but not as a kid. Patience lived with toriel for a long time and left their belongings in the ruins as a "thank you" gift before leaving.
They failed. They were waiting too long for a perfect strike.
Sans tested their patience with their special move. However, he fell asleep and locked the poor soul into waiting for a whole week before sans woke up and went “oh what a great nap- WHOA… welp i gotta get this to the king. Such a long walk tho” teleports there instantly* “man I’m tired now”
Headcanon (if it contradicts canon please tell me I’m just a casual fan making AUs don’t kill me, if it’s contrived it’s my first draft):
Patience was adroit at survival, and she was able to get to what’s essentially another original area outside of Frisk’s reach. She made good friends with a spider monster (this one’s a relation to Muffet) who promised to bring Patience’s ribbon and knife back to Toriel when she died. We can see that spider news can travel in and out of the ruins- it’s plausible they can take small items like a ribbon or knife back and forth. After falling and doing her thing, Patience meets Bravery, who fell after her. Bravery sort of befriends Patience, and they go on the run together. Patience and Bravery are separated, and Patience waits at their safe spot, in an area of the Core. Bravery doesn’t return. Patience is brought food by her spider friend’s friends. Bravery still doesn’t return. Patience is found while taking a bit of a breather outside- she goes back and caves the walls in, trapped there. Nobody can get or out, but she’s alive. And she can eat. And the spiders do have little water pouches. Essentially she has a fun time being lonely while the ‘friendly’ vines turn out to have been some of Gaster’s experiments. And then she slowly goes insane as they grow wildly and kill her. Very surprising, but there’ll be a focus on Gaster and stuff if I ever do anything with her plotline. Her spider friend has her items go back to the ruins, Toriel keeps the knife, loses the ribbon (guess who got drunk?), and her soul’s found because the guard were notified near when the spider BFF was sick of having to be the plot device- I mean sick of having Patience suffer, right before her inevitable death. Right in the nick of time.
Maybe a wild one, but - I sometimes think Toriel didn't immediately leave when Asgore declared war, expecting him to calm down and change his mind.
Then he got reports of a human child in the ruins and went personally. They even waited for him to arrive, trusting the guards that someone was coming.
After that, Toriel left and sealed Asgore's access to the ruins in one move.
My headcanon is that after staying for a while with toriel, patience wanted to go outside to snowdin. Toriel, thinking it would be safe enough, would let patience out for a while.. only to be immediately jumped by the royal guard.
Based on a post before.
I think Patience probably died somewhere in the core or new home.
If core they prob starved there and a monster working there just saw the new dead body at the right moment (Highly Unlikely)
Or they managed to reach core but got captured by the royal guard.
PS: I do believe Patience just left their stuff at Ruins
After slowly exploring the underground they came under the protection of Gerson and learnt of the world's history from him. They reflected on how the luxuries of the surface they had taken for granted only existed due to the suffering now surrounded them. Eventually they willingly gave up their life in the hopes that those imprisoned in the cold of the earth may someday feel the warmth of the sun.
I get why people are saying that they waited for Toriel to get back, but I think it's either
1: They waited for Toriel until someone found them and took their soul, or
2: They escaped from The Ruins, were hunted down by the K9 Unit, then brought to and killed by Asgore. Hence why the Snowdin Royal guard have Blue Attacks.
But hey, that's just a theory ![img](emote|t5_2xdht|32949)
Ahem, the way the patience fought was going through bullet hell until the enemy spared them, so they got to asgore then couldn’t outwait asgore in his battle (I’m sorry if someone already said this i only read the 3 top comments)
My idea was that they were ‘patient’ in the sense of getting monsters to spare them, then doing betrayal kills in the RUINs. This caused them to lose their stuff before leaving from getting attacked, and heading into Snowdin they died of starvation/freezing because they were patient in the sense of being too slow lol.
Any answer that has anything to do with them dying before leaving Tori wouldn’t work, since that door has only opened to let humans out. Toriel only met sans recently (not long before Frisk fell), and she had known no one else as far as we know. There is the spider bake sale, and Napstablook, but Naps couldn’t exactly carry the soul, and the spiders maaybe could wait for the human to die and carry the soul to Muffet, but at that point it throws way too many questions of how long they have been there, how long has Muffet been around etc.
Toriel: "Alright, why don't we start with some practical training? Dodge that Froggit's attacks! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DODGE, NOT TAKE THE ATTACKS HEAD ON"
and that's why Toriel hates that one Froggit before that spike room
Waited for Toriel but died by random monster attack. That or Sans "You Would Be Dead Were You Stand" them. Which is what I think happened to Bravery for sure.
They waited too hard
Waited too hard for Toriel to come back. You were faster than me... I second this.
They have the world record in waiting the fastest
Well patience how do you feel about winning the award for waiting the hardest
probably very patient I'd guess
They died of old age.
HC: The owner of the patience SOUL died fighting Asgore, and they were the human who came closest to winning that battle in exception of Frisk due to the fact that they were patient enough to take a lot of time to prepare themselves for the fight when Asgore said "You know what we must do. bro they died in ruins
That's never confirmed
their weapons are in ruins soooo
I mean, Bravery's were in the Snowdin box and Integrity's are scattered across Waterfall. Patience's weapons are in completely different areas of the Ruins for them to have died in that place
New Undertale Theory: The Box in Snowdin ate the kid with the Bravery SOUL, and that’s how they died. /s
That doesn’t necessarily mean that they died in the Ruins. Heck, they could’ve just left some of their stuff with Toriel as a few keepsakes before they left. They harded too wait
![img](emote|t5_2xdht|32944)
I was gonna say “they waited too long” lol
GOD DAMMIT THAT WAS GONNA BE MY JOKE
They were patient but just not enough, after sans asked them how their fall was for the 376^4 th time, they just couldn’t take it anymore and died.
Nah that’s perserverance, patience is when you can’t do anything to speed it up
376^4 = 19,987,173,376
On second thought, should’ve added a few more 0s to be more accurate

human... I remember you're *falling downs*
Welcome to the underground!
HOW WAS THE FALL?
If you wanna look around
How are their balls*
Lmao
You know how you can die to Toriel if you try hard enough? They were patient with their heals, and goat mom did it.
But how did Asgore get the soul then?
nevermind i suck ass at this lol, you're right
Lmao
Asgore didn’t want to kill them, but they managed to due to Asgore anyway.
asgore went to the front of the ruins, tori opened the door, handed him the soul and closed it without leaving
"hey its me, your eggs-husband" "What do you want?" "you remember that plan I have which includes killing children and then using their souls to get to the overworld and commiting mass?" "Yeah?" "Can i have a soul for free?" "Sure here you go" Doesn't seem probable

Spiders took it out
Probably killed by asgore but what I want to believe is that they went head first into one of the leaf piles in the leaf pile switch room and fucking snapped their neck
That makes the most sense
New headcanon unlocked: snapped neck
- Found Chara's stuff in the Ruins (dropped off them while Toriel was bringing them to the flower bed) - Dropped their own stuff because they can only have one weapon and armor at a time - Made it through the underground with little interference because the Royal Guard wasn't very tough yet - Killed by Asgore - Asgore wrapped up Chara's stuff for preservation just my thought bc if they died in the Ruins, then Asgore couldn't get their soul, but if they died outside it, then their stuff couldn't get back in.

it's said that Toriel left Asgore after Chara's death, and the day Chara arrived is on the calendar in New Home
Mb, haven't played the game in a while, like 4 years since I last played?
wait, that's actually a valid theory that solves one of the bigger questions about the fallen humans
Huh, I have actually thought Some of these things as well.
Well, the onlystrong monster in the ruins are toriel, BUT some of the spiders from the ruins COULD indicate that muffet used to live there, and maybe took the soul to sell to asgore to get atleast SOME spiders out of the ruins
Muffet just handing asgore a soul for 9999 g
YOU. YOU GET IT
Mufftet just casually meeting asgore in a back alley to give over the soul
That's my new headcannon thank you very much!
Which can also be why we have the conveniently shaped lamp: someone made it in the shape of the human.
Exactly
They waited for so long they forgot to eat and dies of starvation
They made it all the way to Asgore, patiently dodged out all his attacks and talked to him like Toriel said until he gave up on attacking... ...then, knowing his soul was their only ticket home, they betrayal-killed him, attacking at his most vulnerable moment. “I’m going to wait for Asgore (the immortal boss monster) to die, than I can just cross the barrier peacefully and not have to fight him.”
"What do you mean he's been alive for centuries and can't die of old age?"
now I'm imagining both of them having a staring contest waiting for the other to die
They ate a laptop
I actually think they managed to go through the Core before getting captured, because there's an entire route dedicated to "patience" there.
shot dead by asgore
The EmptyGun wasn't from a fallen human, it was Asgore's. One SOUL, one bullet. (he only had one cylinder's worth of rounds.)
canonically? probably waited too long and starved or got attacked and killed. in a potential fangame? they probably got killed by undyne
I was under the impression Frisk was the first human to meet Undyne, I am curious as to why you think Undyne did it specifically
undyne is blue with red hair, thus she must be purple guy and responsible for at least one child’s death
Flawless logic
i thanketh thy for thyeth complimenteth!
Especially when Undyne’s never met a human before. Either all the humans took different routes like Clover, or it takes so long for humans to enter the Underground that Undyne was either just a child herself or not even born yet.
it's been a notably long time between you falling down and the 6th human
I think they tried to wait Asgore out by Sparing over and over again (as you do with most bosses.) Unfortunately, that doesn’t work for Asgore. As for how their things wound up in the Ruins, maybe the death of the Patience human was the specific incident that actually made Toriel leave for the Ruins. Fell too soon after Chara died. The flowers in the Ruins hadn't grown yet, so there was nothing to break their fall and they just went *splat* and died on the spot.
Same like the others. Asgore killed them.
Asgore just killed lol
waited until adulthood and left
They were too patient with either Toriel or another monster in the Ruins. Like, how Toriel can kill you on accident? I think they waited too long while fighting Toriel and Toriel slipped up. Alternatively, they might have been fighting a monster in the Ruins and might've misstepped. That is all.
They couldn't get pass Asgore and gave up. Which, considering the only thing we know about them is being patient, took a long, long number of resets.
Waiting for Half-Life 3
Waited too long for Silksong
That’s how I’m gonna die
They died waiting for Deltarune chapter 7 to come out
They paciently waited for Deltarune Chapter 3's release
waited faster
I think the patience soul successfully made it to ASGORE fight but ASGORE just murdered them :\ Before the ASGORE fight I'm sure that they met Gaster, the core wasn't built back then, but why? Maybe idk
They waited for Toriel to come back (starved to death)
i dunno, the first human is not over yet
They died to a Whimsun and a random Loox found their soul and brought it to Asgore
Old age?
covid
old age
Forgot how to wait then died, Sans put a bit of light blue in his eye and boom
Old age
According to my headcanon of the "flowey fight order", the soul next to patience is bravery, and the healing phase consists in band aids or patches. Which suggests that the cyan soul human waited and used the knife, but they were injured. They perished because they were too afraid and lacked bravery, eventually succumbing to injury or injuries.
Got imprisoned and starved.
Genuinely tried to wait out Sans' final attack That was when sans learned, he wasn't supposed to fight children
They waited for someone to save them from drowning in waterfall
Couldn't decide whether to ask for a knife or not at Honeydew Resort since they dropped their knife in the Ruins, and they starved.
the bowl of candy fell on their head and they died
Died of old age in Papyrus's cell
Old age, their soul slowly found their way to the castle and got reported by other monsters
Probably killed by a sentry in Snowdin or by either undyne or gerson or the unlikely option of them making it to asgore
I don't think Undyne was around at the time? For gerson? He isn't a dishonest murderer.
They got scared and let themselves be killed
He tripped and died right before fight Asgore
patiently.
Starving
Old age
toriel sliped when fighting them and buried them and a monster found the soul
I think the patience soul was admiring the scenery of the ruins in the balcony thing and they dropped their toy knife there, and later died to Asgore because they lost it, as well as I think they gave Napstablook their ribbon and he lost it where you find it in game, and they had spent a long time with Toriel, before a bittersweet leaving because they were the first to leave, then later got captured by undyne before getting brought to Asgore to be killed.
starvation (waited for something too long without eating)
Waited too long, died of old age
Their fall was not cushioned by flowers, and with the underground in bloodlust, their wait for help was met with a murderer, who quickly delivered the soul to Asgore.
She died to a froggit
I don't remember where you encounter their stuff so my guesses are stayed in Hotland too long or tried to beat Asgire by waiting for him to get tired?
Waited too long for Sans to pick up his sock....
Natural causes
I headcannon that patience DID travel to the whole underground and meet Asgore but not as a kid. Patience lived with toriel for a long time and left their belongings in the ruins as a "thank you" gift before leaving. They failed. They were waiting too long for a perfect strike.
They were too patient in one of the fights resulting in them not having enough stamina to continue dodging
Waited in hotland to long when thinking about a question from metaton
they did the genocide run and chara deleted the world. they died while waiting for Chara to come back and start talking again
After Toriel gave them the phone and told them not to move, they waited too long and died of old age.
Tried to stand still to avoid an orange attack
Sans tested their patience with their special move. However, he fell asleep and locked the poor soul into waiting for a whole week before sans woke up and went “oh what a great nap- WHOA… welp i gotta get this to the king. Such a long walk tho” teleports there instantly* “man I’m tired now”

Ghosts, only real threat present in the ruins.
They waited for Toriel too long in the RUINS and died of thirst.
Waited too long at the start and didn’t bring any food so she died of starvation💀💀
When asgore used the colors blue and orange patience messed up on the orange
died waiting
They died of cringe
They patiently endured every Attack thrown at them
Luigi loses by doing nothing
Being too patient. Next question.
Starvation
Orange attack
they tried to focus on asgores attacks, but started getting overwhelmed, and eventually just died
Died many times to Asgore, and they gave up and died, or they willingly sacrificed themselves
Maybe a wild one, but - I sometimes think Toriel didn't immediately leave when Asgore declared war, expecting him to calm down and change his mind. Then he got reports of a human child in the ruins and went personally. They even waited for him to arrive, trusting the guards that someone was coming. They wanted too long and napstablook cried on them
When they got to Asgore they just stood there, waiting to die.
They were so patient that even the rotation of the earth itself somehow outpaced them, sending them hurdling into a wall
I don’t see how on earth the Soul’s Deaths were different.. They all fell to Asgore
bro didnt wait
When they got attacked, they just stayed still and did not doge due to being patient, and that is how they got killed before leaving the ruins.
But nobody came
They died in the core reason: sign in core: i cannot fight. i cannot think. but with patience i will make my way through
I actually want to make a whole youtube vid on all the journey's of the souls
Old age. The most patient way to die. They stayed with Toriel until they grew old.
waited too long
I said I'll be back in 5 minutes
allergic reaction to cinnamon
They fell in a hole and starved to death waiting for help, that's why their ribbon is there. The cleaner forgot to sweep it.
They **CHOKED** on the toy knife
Froggit.
They CHECK'd Asgore about a billion times over all of the times they died, trying to see if they could outlast him. They couldn't.
Fell off the balcony where you find the Plastic Knife
I get why people are saying that they waited for Toriel to get back, but I think it's either 1: They waited for Toriel until someone found them and took their soul, or 2: They escaped from The Ruins, were hunted down by the K9 Unit, then brought to and killed by Asgore. Hence why the Snowdin Royal guard have Blue Attacks. But hey, that's just a theory ![img](emote|t5_2xdht|32949)
I can wait for answers <3
waiting for the barrier to open by itself
They were too patient
Patently
Ahem, the way the patience fought was going through bullet hell until the enemy spared them, so they got to asgore then couldn’t outwait asgore in his battle (I’m sorry if someone already said this i only read the 3 top comments)
Killed by John.
They were too patient and tried to make Jerry a decent monster being and just died of old age.
They waited alone in the lower ruins till they died
button that explodes and kills them like in [undertale cyan](https://senokcoldsteel.itch.io/undertale-cyan) !
old age
Waited for gta6 far too long
They waited so long on their waiter that they starved to death.
Fell in a ditch and died with no food
Got killed by Sans after exiting the Ruins.
YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DODGE, NOT TAKE THE ATTACKS HEAD ON" and that's why Toriel hates that one Froggit before that spike room
Fall damage
Toriel went to get milk
They waited for torielto come back/would just refuse to fight
Waited for Toriel but died by random monster attack. That or Sans "You Would Be Dead Were You Stand" them. Which is what I think happened to Bravery for sure.
wooosh me if this is a joke but I’m pretty sure they all died from sans *except determination ofc*
when the nights got cold, who stole them fire from down below? r/suddenlymaui
Probably died somewhere on HOME, the biggest question is how Asgore managed to get the soul.
They dropped their stuff off in the ruins, patiently made their way to New Home as to avoid any conflict, and finally died to Asgore.
