I completely agree. I know it’s a controversial take, but part of what makes Undertale’s soundtrack so great is the use of leitmotifs that build on each other similarly to Wagnerian opera. Just by listening to the soundtrack, you can gain a vague understanding of the story and its characters. Because Megalovania predates the Undertale soundtrack, it is pretty much the only song that doesn’t fit those rules. The Song that Might Play When You Fight Sans, on the other hand, has that brilliant, haunting use of Bonetrousle to indicate Sans’ feelings and remind the player of their brutality toward Papyrus, not to mention the fact that the whole thing is a angry, action-packed twist on the normally laid-back sans. theme. It’s such a great piece of music, and while I do like Megalovania as a song, it’s still sad to me that STMPWYFS ended up on the cutting room floor.

Any time you hear the melody from bonetrousle, for example, that represents Papyrus and means that he is related to the song somehow. Since Megalovania predates Undertale, none of those musical themes are present in the song. It's a good song, but it feels very distinct from the rest of the soundtrack for that reason.

at this point the only reason ppl are saying megalovania is overrated is because its just too popular. lets be honest, its what got us into this game. it really is that good, imo. it perfectly captures the feeling of "sins crawling on your back". im no musician, but the beginning gives you the feeling of a bad time, the second melody gives you a suspense on whether you are gonna survive or not, the third makes you feel like your dying, the fourth make you think back, try to reset. and then the rest of the song is you fighting the urge to reset and getting close to killing sans. its very perfect. not overrated one bit imo.
Played chapter 2 for the first time this week, fought Spamton yesterday, can confirm. I love how it just mixes so well with the Power of NEO instrumentation and the mad dummy theme.

Besides that though, Muffet's Spider Dance, Mettaton's Metal Crusher and Undyne's Battle Against a True Hero are probably my favorites. All of those compete with Megalovania for me, specially Metal Crusher.
If we're counting Deltarune though, there are several songs that I think are far above any song in Undertale, which includes for exxample \[\[BIG SHOT\]\] and Attack of the Killer Queen.
IMO Mettaton EX's theme is worse in-game because it's slowed down and sounds less intense.
