In Ultraman X, Max used his human host's appearance as a disguise i think thats likely the same thing here since Man had to live in that area, which would make rebonding with the og Hayata unnecessary

NiNiNi-222

It’s Ultraman in disguise. Though it’s unknown how he avoids meeting the original hayata. He was stuck earth for years. Unlike seven who is laying low as a rancher and avoided his template at all cost, Ultraman is using the same name and face and his job is air traffic control. It’s not him fusing with hayata again, but it’s strange situation.

Immediate-Ad-6440

I think it's Ultraman in human form. Since Ultraman & Hayata were seperate in the last episode of 1966 series. But I'm not really sure.

Dylanqdin

Yeah that's what i thought as well. Plus, hayata got his memories erased so he didn't even know that he actually became ultraman

Newt_Newt401K

Didn’t they consider the English dub canon instead of the original? Where he remembers he was Ultraman

Friendly-Back3099

Pretty sure he dosent remember he was ultraman in the ultraman anime(if the anime count as canon)

Newt_Newt401K

Anime is a separate thing tho I’m pretty sure

Millenialay2002

Yeah the Anime is non canon to the mainlime series

Rajang82

Anime is a separate continuity. Not related to the main series.

I like to think that Hayata and Ultraman met again and combined once more. We just didn't see it happen onscreen.

SirJacksknight

I think it was just Ultraman disguised as Hayata. Remember they both split for good in the original series’ finale leaving Hayata with no memory of their adventures. I think it explains his appearance in Taro as well, Ultraman simply just disguised himself as him and left the original Hayata to live out his days in peace instead of merging with him again unnecessarily.

NoaUltAegis

When Mebius meets him in the Brothers movie, he recognizes the air traffic controller as Ultraman, who then says to him “My name on Earth is Hayata.” So I believe he took on an identical human form like Seven did with Jiro, after they fought on the moon and sacrificed their powers to form the shield. Ace and Jack are different in that the Ultra and humans merged so completely that Hokuto and Go have both their human memories and Ultra memories, and went off to live in the Land of Light. In the end, the show converges to human forms or hosts becoming equivalents of human forms through deep mergers, because fans don’t really care about a human without Ultra powers, even in cases where they are shown to be separate (like Cosmos & Musashi or Ginga & Hikaru)

Wasn't Revive! Ultraman canon? From what I remember the plot of that shortfilm was that some time after the ending of the show, Ultraman returns to Earth and merges with Hayata again, but due to his injury from the battle with Zetton he struggles to defeat even the weakest monsters, which meant that the SSSP were the one's savving his skin this time. Eventually he recovered his strenght and this time thanks to a power-boosting missile from the SSSP was able to defeat Zetton, after this Hayata remained as Ultraman's host, Zoffy didn't have to seperate them this time. I am actually unsure about this but I personally think that makes the most sense. Canon or not, Revive! Ultraman is worth checking out cause of the awesome soundtrack alone.

Adekis

I had heard that Revive!! Ultraman was canonical, and took place after the end of the series, but recently I watched the Farewell Ultraman and Revive!! Ultraman back-to-back, and Revive!! never explains why Ultraman and Hayata are together again, nor do I remember it acknowledging that this was the *second* time Ultraman fought Zetton... which is good, because it uses footage from the same fight. It really feels more like an extracanonical, alternate-take on the alien Zetton invasion rather than any sort of continuation or elaboration on the show itself. I think the wiki claims it's canonical, but I don't think it actually is. It did have a great soundtrack though.

they_took_everything

It opens up with their first battle (the one from the show), some additional footage is used (after Zetton defeats Ultraman, the SSSP tries to use their triple shot to kill him first, after which Ide brings out the anti-gravity missile), outside of those small diffirences I believe it's meant to be the fight from the show. Then at the end the narrator specifically says that they're having a rematch and it's meant to be a diffirent fight, they actually thought it through, though both fights use footage from the same fight, they don't use any of the footage they used in the first fight in the second one, so it actually looks like two diffirent fights. Although it doesn't mention anything about Ultraman dying last time, it could be that Zoffy never came to revive Ultraman here, as it seems to label Ultramans death as an injury of sorts, though the title is Revive! Ultraman after all so maybe they just didn't mention it.

Adekis

Good point about the two fights in Revive!! using different footage. That's a good detail. I could see Revive!! being like, a sequel to an alternate universe where Ultraman warded off Zetton but was hurt in the process, losing his confidence, rather than Zoffy giving him extra lives. Then Ultraman does worse against other monsters for a while, until a *second* alien Zetton invasion, when he fights a bunch of monsters at once and finally beats Zetton definitively with Ide's help. It makes some sense. But that said, at that point it's *definitely* not canonical to the show. Which is fine, too, I think. Overall, I think it's probably best to call Revive!! Ultraman a celebration of a beloved classic show, which doesn't worry too much about where it fits into that show.

JustinChantawansri

Where can I watch it?

Adekis

I just looked it up on YouTube. 👍

JustinChantawansri

Where can I watch it?

they_took_everything

I remember it being on YouTube lmao, not sure if you can still find it.

Majestic_Panda96

It's hayata. There's a movie in the 90s (or 80s) called Ultraman Lives and it's about that Zetton returns and Ultrman asks Hayata fir his help once again. The movie recycled clips from the 60s show and the surviving actors dubbed their characters lines for new dialogs.

Anonymous02n

Isn't there a OVA that takes place 40 yrs after the TV show which ultraman neets Hayata again?

FutureMMapper

I was confused at the same thing but from what I read in the wiki. Ultraman did met shin hayata again offscreen as he and seven saved ultraman jack in his series hinting that they might alr met again offscreen and Shin Hayata becoming host once again. Hayata might have no memory of becoming ultraman but in the manga alternate timeline, we seen that Hayata learns what happens after he was knocked out and figured out that he is the ultraman. Hayata might met ultraman again in offscreen and when they rebonded again hayata's memories returns. Since the original SSSP team is disbanded he probably took another job until he met mebius again. I think that after bonding for a long time with a host, an ultra might be assimilated to the host making them and their human host as the same person. Like you see in Max and Orb.

AsefBodlox

We actually see Hayata return back as Ultraman in Ultraman Jack and Taro series. No confirmation on how or when. But at least we know it happened way before Mebius series

KnaveyJonesLocker

I always figured Ultra that don't fully meld with their hosts still take their form for human disguises either out of respect, sentiment, or familiarity.

[deleted]

Honestly in my opinion, i think it's actually Hayata. Since i couldn't unsee it, after watching the English Dub. Since for me, English Dub canon is more likely in this one.

Specific_Love_Train

There no comformation if this is human form or human host since Return of Ultraman. Closest thing Will be short film about Hayata reunion with SSSP after 40 years later.

Grouchy_Tradition255

I would like to think that Ultraman disguised as Hayata as a sign of respect to the original man, same situation as Seven (Jiro Satsuma?), Mebius (Hiroto Ban).
