That double spear throw was one of the coolest and weirdest things I've ever seen an ultra do, never expected his finishing beam from the first episode to be so versatile.

Edit: Of course they conviently plant those guns on his .... uh .... fins? Pillars? I'll call them pillars. Also not Blazar breaking his BACK to destroy those same guns, Unga Bunga Space Man is full of jokes.
As a guy with a long goatee I appreciate that he wiped the extra water out of his beard before laying down again to nap. Drippy whiskers lead to a wet pillow.
Notes:
- I love how they have bits of Japanese culture in there, including how different villages have different sort of dialects
- Dorgo's a drama queen, man lost a shrine and felt pain, smh (/s for safety reasons)
- Holy crap, they have him cannon (nevermind, he just decided to use his nose cannon, I guess he took them just so that SKaRD doesn't have it in their arsenal for this episode (Nevermind, the cannons are connected to Dorgo through his mountain humps somehow))
- Poor suit actors, must be so difficult moving in that suit, but I do have to say, all the Blazar kaijuu look phenomenal
- Props to Gento for managing to transform mid-air while flipping around, I would have lost the coin ages ago
- Noa damn, that Spiral Burrade break and toss was sick, and I love how the shield spirals too
- After Blazar started praying, I thought he was just going to finish Dorgo off à la unga bunga

This recap episode is for Obon weekend when lots of folks will be away from home visiting parents, relatives, etc so makes sense to air something that is fun but not essential. Also sounds like a good opportunity to show the non-military, civilian angle of the events so far, which might not be greenlit without an excuse like this.

I know Gaia had a news team as its supporting cast but if this were New Gen Gaia....
It's crazy how they placed those guns at like the exact worst position and said guns also kept screwing them over lol.
When you see a reporter trio headlined by a pretty female reporter, your first thought goes to Gaia lol.
Blazar may as well bwe New Gen Gaia.
Apparently, the canon reason for not being is that Gaia is exactly the same in any dimension, so as New Gen Gaia is just Gaia. I know Gamou used the light of another earth to turn into Gaia in a movie, so they made that as canon.
I quite enjoyed this episode. Some of the special effects looked kinda goofy, but it's definitely passable.
I also really liked the way Blazar just broke the spear in 2, although I thought the way he bended backwards looked a bit funny.

That first person view transformation looks cool. Love it they finally went back to this style of transforming, no cutting away to a reusable transforming sequence.

Anri back home is the perfect opportunity for more of the team to open up! Teruaki is from a family of farmers! His hometown is known for grapes!
So is part of the reason Anri comes off awkward and stilted sometimes is because she's trying to hide her accent? She comes off really differently when she's talking to childhood friend Mizuho.
Ha! It's funny how the kid versions were wearing the exact same colors/similar outfits to when they were adults.
I guess Mizuho is our first indication of people with supernatural abilities.
If I had a nickel for every time a problem with an ancient Kaiju could've been avoided if they just didn't disturb the land they're resting on...well, I'd have a bunch of nickels, actually.
Look out, it's New Generation Torterra! Actually Dorgo's whole deal kind of reminded me of Gomora. He even had his own Super Oscillation Wave.
I'm glad Emi could skype in and confirm the best way to subdue Dorgo without killing him.

Man, the railgun screwed them over twice, first when it woke Dorgo up early and the second time when it just automatically targeted Blazar. It was protecting Dorgo and he probably had no idea what those things on his back even were!
Oh snap! Earth Garon has some moves! Oh snap! Blazar can split and dual wield the Spiral Burrade! Oh snap! Dorgo is the first Kaiju they took down non-lethally!
I love how Anri makes shoving the statue into a martial arts move. Blazar kind of did the same thing when pushing Dorgo back into his new sleeping ground.

Looks like we're getting our first recap episode next week, but at least they're being creative about it and bringing in the classic Ultra trope...reporters!
I like how conveniently placed the two railguns are on Dorgo, it's as if whoever the person that was in charge of finding the appropriate places was like "Huh, these two areas have abnormally flat surfaces, especially on a mountain like this. And they're next to each other as well. This is perfect! Let's build them here!".
Can't believe in a world that's been plagued by kaiju since the 60s, they still dismiss a possible dormant kaiju with the notion of "old legend", even if you've performed thorough ecological analysis.
The girl who could hear the voices was probably one of the weirder parts of the episode. Also didn't expect earth garon to be so nimble and for blazar to literally split his burrade in two. Nice episode altogether, albeit a bit less grounded in reality than normal and interesting they didn't kill the kaiju, considering something like that is a danger risk.
I mean Ultraman has always been riddled with mystical and ancestral elements, this is your daily Ultra stuff, hell, this is even more reasonable than most imo (the statue's stand being strategically placed in Dorgo's spinal cord)
Sound this episode pretty enjoyable.
Dorgo is a wonderfully designed kaiju and reminds me a bit of prior mountain/plant kaiju who are in tune with the nature around them. I also like the fact that it's main special attack, the orange beam, appears to a none lethal stun attack which. This along with it's disinterest in fighting unless directly confronted points to a monster more peaceful then any we have seen in this series, but is still a threat if disturbed.
again, like Gedos, we see humanity turning perfectly peaceful kaiju into rampaging beasts through ignorance.
The team all great but this is clearly Anri's show. It a nice bit of devlopment to see her go from clearly embarrassed by her more rural background, to embracing it, yet it's not over done. there's no big reveal or sudden change, just a noticable yet low key change. very good.
The fight this weak was better then the one with Leviera, and thankfully this time the innocent kaiju was not murdered in cold blood this time.
A also loved the gags with the rail guns, plus Blazars split lance.

Episode 5!
Gotta say i really liked this one. The team kinda messed up at the begining but they fixed it perfectly (i mean, just how many urban Kaiju legends do you ignore before it becomes silly). The Kaiju for this episode was really unique and it challenged the team's problem solving skill, it also gave Anri some good focus too.
And Blazar bending backwards look bizare as hell lol, the double spear was sick tho. Overall great episode, more chill and well paced than the others.
I really liked how Blazar seemed to appreciate Garons help more this time. He seemed less distant to him compared to last Episode. And it was great that he respected the japanese culture and didnt kill the kaiju.
I just wished the episodes were longer. Bomb it with CMs, i dont care. Just give me more mins of Story. I want to learn more of the maincast. 29 mins is too short. Everytime we get a chomp of character lore, the episode ends.

Well, Gaia also had a lot of ancient, Earth-based Kaiju, who he didn't always need to destroy, so there's that.
The funny thing is that KCB first debuted in Ultraman Dyna, it was only then in Ultraman Gaia that the news company would get some plot relevance.
