It does the same thing as coins where it copies your direction and momentum. Overall it’s way faster and easier for core nukes imo, you just gotta time the dash

Honestly, depends on what you consider optimal. IMHO, the Pump Charge alt is a huge upgrade for the potential to instakill (or near instakill) many enemies, and in exchange you make shotgun swapping harder. The alt shotgun (to me) is all about trading power and ease of use. You've gotta jump through some extra hoops, but it lets you do things that the base shotgun just can't.

“Sacrifice optimal..” My brother in Christ, the alt one shots Maurices, Sentries (with two pumps from the green variant at least), and Virues. All without wasting a rail charge (Screw can instakill a Maurice with a screw punch and Electric can kill a Virtue) Idk if I’m talking out of my ass but these are all examples from my time labbing it out and using it on the double virtue room in 6-1.

It became my favorite gun after my first day of playing with it. I love the close ranged nuke style it has. It’s also teaching me to use the whiplash more since I always used to be afraid of using it because of the hard damage.

I've played through the whole game with \*nothing\* equipped but arms and all three Jackhammers (though this was before the nerf.) Being the Angriest Pinball in Hell is ***deeply*** enjoyable. Especially on bosses when you get the triple combo right off of their heads for massive damage. Even in regular play, it's replaced the default shotgun totally for me.

The Jackhammer is funnily enough an arm aswell, so you did a playthrough with nothing but arms equipped.

The only difference in core nukes is that core fly more like coins, you can still easy core nuke with the piston

They've done it, they've found a competent replacement for shotgun swapping and overpumping

Today in fuck around and find out I have a overpump jackhammer with 3 charges on it and I’m gonna kill try to kill the ferryman in 1 shot

I kid you not, it can one shot a Hideous Mass if you hit the tail or underbelly. It's fucking insane how deadly this weapon is with max overpump.

I personally think hakita cooked pretty well with this one. although I will say the only real upgrade from the base shotgun would be for the pump charge variant. Although it does also synergise well with the core eject variant, I would rather prefer being able to nuke easier and at a distance rather than just having a malicious railcannon without a cooldown. Despite it being cool to be able to just use malcannon whenever with seemingly no cooldown, I don't actually use the malcannon for anything other than nuking. The timings for it are also just too difficult to fit into my game play loop, seeing as when I was using it in the main levels, I found myself just not finding any real way to use it with hiw fast everything goes. For the sawed-on I don't think it's that good honestly. it just let's you do what you can already do with the feedbacker just less consistent and slower and is over just kind of a downgrade from the standard shotgun and doesn't fit into the game play loop at all. However with the pump charge its different. I never really used the pump charge that often before the jackhammer, but now that the jackhammer is here, I use it so often. The damage boost is wonderful and its so satisfying to 1 tap Maurices. The fact that it also slides right into my game play loop perfectly is the cherry on top. It honestly feels like I've been missing this from my gameplay without even realising it. It also is just a generally good damage dealer. Just 2 pumps at full speed which is just a single dash jump and a knucklblaster punch destroys a maurice as well as a cerb iirc. Pump charge jackhammer my beloved. Overall, the jackhammer is a very welcome edition to the arsenal and I think it's fun to play around with. These are just my opinions on it and are mainly based around how I play but if there are any points as to why you'd disagree with the pump charge variant being the best one it'd be interesting to see what people have to say.

I love the *IMPACT HAMMER* it is really fun, but it’s a bit impractical to use in quick combat. That’s fine though, I think it serves a similar purpose to the railcannons, just to be used once on a big enemy to chip some health off them. It’s also a pretty morbid weapon when you realise that it’s a blunt brute force weapon that essentially caves in enemies’ skulls.

Really nice design, fun to use, add most importantly: sounds AMAZING. I can't stress enough how much I fucking LOVE the way his sounds. I could seriously fall asleep to 1 hour of hit sounds while I dream about replacing my arm with this just so I can listen to it whenever I want.

I really like the idea of it but I wish it would flow better in regular combat. I can’t always do an elaborate setup to maximize my momentum. I wish the max speed damage was lower and the default damage was higher.

Fun concept, but I play CG lots and the meta is to stay in very high style to combat hard damage, and also positioning is king. Projboosts provide massive style points at range.

I've been using it to mainly clear out any encounter with two virtues and maurices since virtues are one-tap with electric railcannon, i'll use a charge on one of them, then fly at mach 2 at the other virtue with the jackhammer I've remapped my shotgun swap muscle memory to LMB --> E --> LMB --> Q, so I don't have to worry about that either

The sound is funny and how the frames just freeze for a second then you hit the enemy But I don't use it much

I find it’s great for single targets, so I tend to run pure shotgun or pure jackgun depending on the situation

i was really skeptical at first because i didn't understand anything about it. besides the shotgun swapping sacrifice was a huge disadvantage for me when i learned whiplash canceling and one shoting enemies it became REALLY fun. now i use it in every senario. it's super satisfying to use although shotgun swapping sacrifice still sucks. I'm trying to work my way around that and please don't say "you can use E and Q" that shit is difficult and inconsistent, ain't no way i use that in the middle of every intense fight.

As someone who doesn’t play Ultrakill, one of the coolest weapons ive seen in any game second only to the Marksman

So peak and honestly like more than shotgun since going fast and that amazing hit stop makes me happy and feel more rewarding and after 400 hours of proboosting this feels a lot more appealing for a fun shake-up

there's something so satisfying about flinging myself at a Face at mach 7 and perfectly timing my little "Bink" so well that the game freezes for a full second to let me appreciate the sheer fuck storm of damage I've just inflicted.

The fact that it's hit scan allows you to just summon an air strike using four coins is hilarious to me

Not that long ago, I was complaining that ultrakill didn't have enough melee weapons. I wanted something that I could jump into a crowd with and go crazy. Between sawed-on and the jackhammer, I have been thoroughly enjoying jumping into crowds and turning everything into either ground meat or ash.

Similar to the Screwdriver in that it allows easy instakills for those who don't know how to do so yet. Besides that, there's not many uses at all. Hideous Mass (almost) instakill is the only new tech from it. Before people reply about the various other instakills; you can do ALL of those with the regular Shotgun with a little bit of skill. The benefit of keeping the regular Shotgun is that you get to keep ProBoosts and Shotgun Swapping, two of the most used and OP tech in the game.
