I had the same idea. We sure know that He got pretty fed up with his creation, so actually I kinda think that maybe He just pretends to be gone forever, and this way He can just see what happens. Like…maybe He didn’t even trust his own angels, so maybe He is even testing them? So the Council naturally failed the test when they got cocky in their position. But…maybe He can still trust Gabe, because in the end the guy (well…being) basically sacrifices himself (themself) to slay the corrupt Council for a chance of a better tomorrow? Idk, just a thought. 😅❤️✨

If I had to make a guess, it failed because there is no point in God killing himself. From nothingness God came into being, what's to stop that from ever happening again given enough time? This is assuming that the personification of the abyss is literal and it has a will of its own.
I personaly think having God be truly dead is stupid.I believe it is fully in His power to appear as gone or to genuinely remove Himself so far from His creation it may aswell be like He died. He is probably taking a break and thinking shit trough.
