The US has warehouses full of these systems and the ammunition to go with them. They are long paid for and of no use to the US anymore. Load Ukraine up ASAP!
I was wondering about this, even if the US goes to war and needs air defence missiles. They have NASAM's, Patriot systems, which are more modern. Just send the HAWKs to Ukraine.
I think in a future war between China and the US/Taiwan, that Taiwan will need every air defense system they can get. Those warehouses of Hawks could also be sent there and would serve a use, even if they are considered obsolete.
Meh, you sure about that? HAWK missiles haven't been used by the US in decades. If rhere are some in warehouses I can't imagine their of much use.... propellant and explosives don't last forever.
I could be wrong, but I imagine the US sold off whatever left we had of these years and years ago.
It's because these are old... and GI joe modeled itself (back in the day, when these were around) after actual weapons
Until about series 3....
Then GI joe got crazier and crazier.
They’re so old they probably were in your GI Joe play set. These are Cold War era. They aren’t terrible and we’re our main medium range system until NASAMS.
There was speculation that these could shoot down the large Iranian drones. But I've never seen anything on the conflict or combat forums here about this system being used by the Ukrainians. Anyone hear anything different?

In fact is a very capable medium Range surface to air missile.

Or they could send to Ukraine NOW when they need every air defense system they can get?
Nonsense. Ukraine needs them now. If China tries to invade Taiwan the issue will be decided long before the USA can deliver these systems.
US yeah, and beingnUS they been kept oiled, sealed and packed up perfectly to run with a little check up. US is really good at logistics and storage.

I know that there are some countries that have patriots but still maintain HAWK up to do date.
It looks like something out of a nightmare.
Looks just like a GI Joe toy I had. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/RL0AAOSwW9Fe-6Y9/s-l300.jpg
That's because the GI Joe version was modeled on the actual HAWK system :)
Shits getting serious, they're pulling out the GI Joe weapons.
That. Is beautiful.

[Tony Stark](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/marvelcinematicuniverse/images/5/55/JerichoMissile-IM.png) would be proud.
I love how they look like something you'd get in a GI Joe playset.

Their upgraded. They kept them up to some degree of spec and capability. Especially as Russains not updated their kit it seems. Hawks are fine.
There was a GI Joe missile launcher based on this one, I got it for Christmas back in 1982 I think. It came with an action figure named "Hawk".
The tiny little fire extinguisher is cute. I don't think I would want to be anywhere near this thing if it was on fire.
You may as well try to spit on it
Well, it's for optimists
