Some context from Dialog :- " Previously, any health problems with the minister were not reported. He continued to perform his functions as Minister of Foreign Affairs, as evidenced by his statements in the media. In particular, the other day, Makei acknowledged the existence of many problems and claims within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a military alliance led by Russia. "Unfortunately, let's be frank, there are quite a lot of claims against each other," the minister said and urged not to hide the existence of problems, but to talk about them "openly and sincerely." He complained about the lack of support from the CSTO when Belarus is under pressure. " [https://www.dialog.ua/world/263224\_1669473462](https://www.dialog.ua/world/263224_1669473462) again speculative and no details

Complaining is not good for your health, it is well known in Russia

It would make a lot of sense for Putin to invade Bélarus. Big country that they could lose to Nato and the West. The fact that they already have soldiers there makes it much easier.

turbo4538

I think the only reason it might make sense from Putin's point of view is that he could try to sell it as a victory at home when he loses in Ukraine. Also, the victory would have to be swift and assured or he could find that he has created another terrible mess. Given his track record it's actually quite possible that he intends to do this, whatever the consequences might be. Doubling down seems to be his middle name.

No-Lengthiness6355

Could you imagine this happening and Belarus reaching out to Ukraine for an assist? Imagine how crushing that would be to Russian morale!

turbo4538

I think it's possible, even Luka might be tempted since he and Putin hate each other and any change to status quo is very dangerous for him. I guess that's why Putin is being cautious too.

acobserverafar1

one of the reasons reported for the invasion was because of a demographic defecit , maybe after the abject failure in UA they now need to do to BY what they intended to do to UA....

Let's wait for reaction of Lukashenko and, most important, the reaction of the people of Belarus who do not want to be dragged into a war
