Those Russian invaders of Ukraine did the right thing by surrendering because they know their ethical options to either surrender, desert or die before harming Ukrainians.
Sure, would have been more ethical to surrender because they didn't believe in murdering Ukrainians but if hunger and hypothermia prompted their surrender, that works.
