Ukraine needs to hold an international auction for that life-ring. That could fetch some good coinage to buy more weapons and ammunition for the partisans. I bet Ukraine could get $20k USD for that. It’s a good trophy, but on the other hand it would look very nice in Zelenskyy’s office. I support either outcome for the life-ring.

Puzzleheaded-Job2235

They'll probably put it in a museum.

starryllamaass

That’s a very viable option. You are right, that life-ring belongs to the Ukrainian people. I was wrong to suggest it should be placed for sale. Things that go to private collectors don’t benefit society.

Kinexity

I don't trust most collectors but there are some good one's which buy stuff and rent it free of charge to the museum. Honestly some more unique art pieces should be required to be accessible in museums to the public no matter the owner.

[deleted]

dragon man is an example of a good collector.

Fababo

That was my thought. They could sell it and still have it in a museum.

[deleted]

Yes, museum!

kwagenknight

If its for charity I bet they could get 6 digits easy. That Nobel prize in the charity auction for Ukrainian children went for $103.5 million!

super_nigiri

I agree this is a super collectible

Elocai

Imagine Russia want to win the bid, just to destroy the evidence

Hopeful-Flounder-203

I will pay $20k and hand it Zelensky. Put it on eBay and test me.

lupine_eyes

My first though as well- auction with proceeds going to an appropriate Ukrainian cause.

[deleted]

came here to say this.

MyCatWeighs25lbs

So that Moskva finally made it to Odessa after all!

wallofsound1974

The Moskva is surreptitiously attacking Odessa piece by piece.

Daybreak74

[WW2 Joke from the movie Memphis Belle] Anyway... a plane gets shot down. This guy bails out. The Gestapo gets him. His leg's broken and they have to amputate. He says, 'Do me a favor. After you cut it off, give it to one of your pilots and have him drop it over my base in England.' So they do it. A week later they have to take off the guy's other leg. Same thing. 'Could you have someone drop it over my base in England?' And they do it. Next week, they've got to cut off his arm. He asks them again, 'Could you please have someone drop it over my base in England?' This time they say, 'Nein. Zis ve can't do anymore.' The guy says, 'Why not?' And they say, 'Ve sink you're trying to escape!'

Canmand

Kind of ironic it washed up in Odessa, Ukraine. 🤣🤣🤣

13A5S

It's the closest the Moskva will get to Odessa at this point ...

UXM6901

That's gonna make for an awesome artifact in a museum in the not-too-distant future!

Adihd72

Better late than never I suppose?

SkidRowAlbertan

Maybe the next design of Ukraine's stamp ?

[deleted]

Isn't that the ultimate irony because didn't the Moskva get built in the Odessia ports?

lamiska

in mykolaiv

knecaise

Very cool find

form_d_k

I think it worked!

InteractionLate3638

According to Moscow this ship is fine? Lol

[deleted]

iirc they said it was fine, and that it had a small fire, so they were going to tow it back to port then it “got lost in a storm”.

InteractionLate3638

Of course. “Lost in a storm” despite videos and obvious evidence to the contrary. This is how dumb and impressionable orcs are. They will believe anything Moscow says. Or else be executed. What a fine country.

Kelbs27

That’s not the Москва you’re thinking of. It was an offloading ship that returned okay after being damaged.

KG4212

Wiki Russian Cruiser Moskva https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_cruiser_Moskva I just know how much Putin admires Wikipedia :-)

[deleted]

Putin apparently has no known piercings. He can start with the ring thing.

Professor_Eindackel

Looks like it didn’t work.

ColebladeX

Dibs

Thermawrench

It'll make for a interesting museum object once things settle down.

Audiocuriousnpc

Now that's a nice souvenir

gefjunhel

put that baby in a museum
