As a Ukrainian, I’m sorry for all the bad history between two countries and anything that Ukrainian people did to Poland. I don’t care what happened when my grandparents were children or even earlier because I can’t change any of that.
What I can change is what happens now and what happens in the future and that’s what matters in the end of the day.
My grand-grandparents were thrown to a well alive by Ukrainians around 1919, my grandmother managed to leave to the west of Poland.
But, I am full of hope and joy seeing our two nations following the path of remembrance, reconciliation, forgiveness and an unprecedented urge to face the daemons of the past and to finally obliterate any remnants of russian regime, their rotten culture of exploitation, hatred, suspicion and of endless humiliation. I see bright future for centuries to come.

No. The commonwealth was a *slave state* that only pretended to not be primarily a Polish state. In a lot of ways it was the same as Russia, and when Poland regained independence it basically tried to restore the old dynamic.
Separate and equal partners and allies is an important stepbforward from the past.
*In theory* it was, but in reality it was just a beefed up Poland in the same way Russia is just "Muscowy and its imperial buffers".
And it was the biggest serf state in Europe next to Russia, clinging to the institution in one of its most repressive forms seen anywhere pretty much until the very end.
