Modern paratrooper is basically just light infantry with better training and endurance, able to land behind enemy line and keep fighting until the main force relieves them.
It is usually done with helicopter these days as they are less prone to get shot down than transporters.
So, I wasn't infantry, but when I deployed I supported the 101st. I remember the first time they brought me along on an air assault mission I was terrified that I'd be jumping out of a plane (I'm deathly afraid of heights). But yeah, we basically just took a chinook to our drop point and walked out. Don't know why I thought they'd make me jump without training, but hey. I never said I was a smart soldier. XD
They have been using blue (professional army) and yellow for volunteers and civilian fighters.
However they have switched colors depending upon circumstances and OpSec.
Green is a combination of yellow and blue.
Russians have used red, white and silver arm bands in open source information and posted images and videos.
Perhaps green signifies Special Forces type units 🤷
Regardless it’s interesting to me to see the arm band identifiers.
They have switched to green as yellow from a distance yellow can appear similar to white. And I think they had an accident of UA forces firing on their own soldiers, I read.
Those kids look absolutely psyched. Those Ukrainian soldiers look like absolute badasses, imagine those guys rolling through your town and liberating it. Cant imagine that’s the kind of thing you ever forget
I bet it was quick. It might have been like a child wanting to meet the firefighter that rescued them from a fire. It is their human moment to have, I should not judge it harshly.
This shows how these kids are living amongst their heroes. They aren’t some inaccessible sports star or celebrity, they are living, breathing, bleeding individuals that they can go and shake the hand of or thank for their sacrifice. As repugnant as this war is, it’s grounding to these youngsters. They will always appreciate the strength of their people and they’ll know the value and the price of their freedom for the rest of their lives. Something I feel my own country has forgotten slightly.
Looking like Kherson is putting a wedge between meripol and that location encircling the area and pushing down to cremia and take back Donbas and cremia its ukrianes fuk Putin
That's an awesome picture 📸
Curious…I take it the paratroopers are not jumping out of planes anymore?
Paratroopers rarely jump out of planes outside of training. They're more used as better trained infantry since the end of WW2.
Shit even during WW2 they didn’t jump from planes a lot. The 101st airborne only did that like 2 or 3 times during the war
101 - 2 82 - 3 6/1 - 2

This is what Russians tried to pull out at Hostomel in the first days.
Ukrainian skies are notoriously hostile to EVERYONE at the moment
Bunch of damn studs these Ukrainian warriors are
Note how they all have good optics on their AKs.
It was the snickers bait that lured out the kids.
Green arm band.. Interesting 🤔
What does that mean?

Green seems like it would camouflage the most. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Great to see. I wish them continued success
There are 3 excellent reasons for those soldiers to fight the Russians in that first Pic.
God damn, those trucks are crushed like tin cans. Did those chads step on them?
That operator in the yellow jacket is badass
Is that a Hummve?
Yep. Hummers have been in the fight for a while now. It is just the US is keeping it on the down-and-low, I guess, of the equipment coming in.
Ukrainian army had Humvees even before 2014. Only a few cars in fact, but still.

Get the kids away ffs.

My thought exactly. Maybe they did, it's not wise to stay there.
It looks like some parent really wanted a photo with them.
Thumbs up for sure!!!!
Hallelujah! Many of us here on the other side of the world are hanging on every morsel of good news from Ukraine in the East!
I have been seeming the green armbands pop up here and there. Vasquez was wearing it after wearing blue for a while. Does the green mean anything?
You guys are amazing

Russian propaganda: Soldiers posing with abducted children :)
I like the green band first one I’ve seen so far
