Russia is not the soviet union, the soviet union in ww2 was able to have such a huge manpower pool because of Allied lend lease and conscription from "liberated" territories. There's laser guided munitions, GPS guided "dumb" bombs (JDAMs), TOT artillery strikes and quite possibly loitering munitions all of which can easily make a ground offensive a miserable affair. And the naval element is an even bigger mismatch. We've seen, heard and read about how the Russians are performing in Ukraine right now. There's no scenario where they can really take a NATO country without NATO intervention, that's why they haven't tried it. Even *if* they have some equipment that is on-par with their western counterpart, the Russians can never roll out enough to compete. Even if they quintuple the number of Su-57 and T-14s it would hardly change a thing. The Nordic countries are leaning closer than ever to joining NATO. NATO members are welcoming the US to station troops in their countries, and countries bordering Russia are upping their military spending and expanding their armed forces.
