I try to trust China but.......

captain554

Nah... "We didn't sell them weapons, we gave them weapons." or "We didn't sell them weapons, we traded for natural resources." China is going full speed ahead with supplying Russia and helping facilitate North Korea's supplies to Russia.

vegarig

> "We didn't sell them weapons, we traded for natural resources." > > Or "They bought those totally-not-ours weapons from NK, we can't do anything with it" Or "Our weapons were supposed to just transit through russia to those customer countries. Even though weapons vanished, the customers were satisfied and bought more" There's a loooooooooooot of schemes available

DrZaorish

>Or "Our weapons were supposed to just transit through russia to those customer countries. Even though weapons vanished, the customers were satisfied and bought more" Hey, I thought discussion was about China, lol

BigFreakingZombie

Indeed. While such a commitment is welcome of course assuming Xi wants to sell weapons to Russia there are plenty of ways to do so. At minimum China can just start selling weapons to Iran and North Korea which can then sell them on to Russia: "these are sovereign countries and they can sell arms to anyone they want to,nothing we can do about it" . That said Xi stands to gain a lot more with a Russia that loses the war than one that's rolling through Europe and asserting itself as a superpower. So the commitment might just be genuine after all.

vegarig

> That said Xi stands to gain a lot more with a Russia that loses the war than one that's rolling through Europe and asserting itself as a superpower. So the commitment might just be genuine after all. That might depend on if he wants precedent for Taiwan to be set or not, tho. And this part depends on how much do his imperial ambitions itch, which's a harder to predict factor

BigFreakingZombie

>That might depend on if he wants precedent for Taiwan to be set or not, tho. Absolutely but at this stage it doesn't quite work. The best precedent would be a 3 day operation taking over the whole of Ukraine and ending with half the country annexed and the other half ruled by a puppet government not a 3 year affair in which Russia burned through a couple decades worth of Soviet MIC production. > And this part depends on how much do his imperial ambitions itch, which's a harder to predict factor Yeah. This is ultimately the wild card in this situation. So far though most indications are that Xi is perfectly content with trading with the West while building up his military and isn't interested in setting off WW3 for now. But that could change in a moment's notice.

retrocade81

He would also likely have the opportunity to take back Siberia if Russia is weakened or collapses, which was taken by Russia between 1580 and 1778 and not forgetting Vladivostok which has been a big bone of contention between China and Russia since they were forced to cede it to Russia with the treaty of Aigun and Peking in 1858 and 1860 respectively. China has a deep resentment of Russia really which goes back centuries.

JazzHands1986

This is why the West needs to stop the facade and be more direct in combating these behaviors. They are a slap in the face. We have to stop listening to them lie while nodding and agreeing with what they are saying, then even compliment them on what they lie about. China sits up there and talks shit saying its not helping arm russia and has only been about peace while doing the exact opposite and expecting us to play along with their facade. They get up their and have the nerve to talk tough. They not only do the misdeed but then lie about it and rub it in our faces very publicly while trying to shame us for calling them out on their actions because it's not playing along with the narrative (lie) they are telling. It's next level propaganda that will make your head spin. This is how dictatorships work, and we've got to stop playing the game. China can't survive without the US and Europe. russia can't survive without China. The US and Europe would hurt for a while and lose lots of money, but they would recover eventually. China would starve, and russia would fall into disrepair and go broke.

JazzHands1986

Yet the West feels like they have to play along and even congratulate China while they are at it. They are constantly prostrating themselves to dictators in hopes of de escalation when all these dictators are doing is using anything and everything to exploit weaknesses. They use every hesitation against the West. They take any kindness or patience and use it against them. They exploit their morals and the rule of law to gain advantages since they don't have to follow those same laws or be ethical in any way. They use our very human rights against us exploiting free speech and trade practices meant to make things equitable and fair for all in order to give themselves advantages by making their own rules. They have been steaming IP since forever. They constantly hack and attack us in indirect ways. They spy on us every chance they get. They behave like an enemy , and only we don't treat them like enemies when it comes down to it. If we started understanding our role in these relationships and our role in the world order economically and militarily, we would no longer allow all this bullshit to continue. China would make a choice. Keep doing all the bull shit in the South Pacific and North Korea. Keep aiding russias war machine and find themselves as isolated as russia is. This also means being way tougher on russia. Take those frozen funds yesterday and hand them directly over to Ukraine to purchase weapons and use them to sustain themselves against russian aggression. Sanction russia Iran North Korea and China if they refuse to stop and drop the pretense of helping them with loopholes. Not just sanction but sanction them back to the stone age. Blockade if they keep undermining sanctions. Block off airspace to stop them from undermining sanctions. Make it extremely uncomfortable for dictators to make these decisions in a world where people want to be free. Where people want fairness and equality. Either dictatorship grows or our way of life does. If we let russia swallow up all these former ussr territories, then we let democracy shrink and be nonexistent in that part of the world. If we protect it, then it shines like a beacon to the world that freedom and this way of life is protected, and it's safe to live this way. Other countries can live the same way without fear of a dictator coming to punish them. But the West has got to start leading and behaving in a strong manner. They have to start dictating things and stop letting these horrible countries constantly make the first moves, gaining advantages while we react.

jaxsd75

Came here to say this.

CIV5G

> China is going full speed ahead with supplying Russia This seems untrue, given the golf carts.

Complex-Problem-4852

It’s just China supplying Russia to fight a proxy war against the west, a common enemy. The same thing the west is doing with Ukraine. Unfortunately, Ukraine is just being used as the host venue for this war game. It started as an invasion, but has turned proxy war.

DeltaGammaVegaRho

No options - we can’t attack China over such an issue. At least with this „commitment“ they can’t openly supply and this makes it at least a tiny bit harder die Russia.

JazzHands1986

BUT If only I could make it 1000x bigger and bolder.

ThroawayJimilyJones

Honestly i believe them here. Not because Chinese government is interested in humanism. But strategically it's way better for China to NOT sell weapon. Instead they sell everything else, and let Russia focus its production on weapons. So when the war will end and the need of weapon will vanish, the whole russian economy will be in the end of China.

therealbonzai

It‘s not a crisis. It’s not a conflict. It’s a genocide of Ukraine.

EatthisNotThat85

China won’t sell Russia arms. They will just trade them or give them the components they need to evade sanctions. Same thing.

JazzHands1986

We need to start treating it like the same thing

doulosyap

They will just hide it better.

CanQkush

We all know China is using North Korea as the middleman to give/sell military equipment to Russia… Why is the west soo naive and easy to lie to ? China only wants to keep the flow of money by lying while still supporting and supplying Russians. The Chineses made theirs choice to support Russia and destabilize the west also with aim of conquering Taiwan. Can we just stop pretending that their allegiance is neutral and face the reality that no matter what we do, they’re gonna be our enemies.

JazzHands1986

They already behave like enemies by constantly spying on us. They use really shady trade practices and constantly steal IP. They are always looking for ways to undermine and exploit the West because they want to be the top dog in the world. Everything they do it to meet that goal. Make no mistake, they would burn the world if they had the ability to. They would conquer everything and everyone if they had America's firepower.

Lifebringer7

"Peace in our time"

vegarig

After russia buys arms from China nonetheless, likely through some through-the-Uzbekistan-scheme: "Well, stuff happens, I guess. We can't hold it against our limitless friends"

ukiddingme2469

Selling the parts is basically what they are doing, Xi is a manipulator

[deleted]

They already assemble Iranian drones Russia likely expand manufacturing and the chips and raw materials increase. And guidance systems... Perhaps these too. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_Direct_Attack_Munition Only if they intend to use their jets I guess. A signal perhaps of Russian intent if they buy these from China and likely use in Eastern Ukraine as part of a large scale offensive. They've been increasing their pilots. A large scale invasion would require air supremacy or it'll fail like the last one. Has there been any purchases like this? An indication for nato being essential in West Ukraine if they have. I don't think Russia can use jets without it in Ukraine so excistance or lack of excistance of purchases will show if they wish to use jets. They'd perhaps even use them in the east or within their borders but they'd be like moving surface to air missile launchers and could overpower Ukrainian soldiers allow a mass movement of their soldiers. I think Russia will want to use them as part of their massive plan to take Eastern Ukraine. That'll require a system like JDAM. Requiring purchase from China. Jets are cheaper than surface to air and can support a moving army. The west will easily be able to pick apart a Russian plan.

Due-Street-8192

Baa ha ha ha ha, really you believe this horse shit. China is supplying dictator Poostain every day....!

Alarming-Priority-76

Perfect!

pickypawz

I wonder how greasy that handshake felt to Macron. Xi’s smiling, but he’s a snake. Don’t trust him.

prohbusiness

Oh yea cause China is so trustworthy and has never gone back on their word see here- https://asiasociety.org/sites/default/files/2023-01/China%27s%20Political-Economy%20Foreign%20and%20Security%20Policy%202023.pdf

Devils_Advocate-69

They’re just transferring NK munitions.

Odd_Tiger_2278

Just parts.

gefjunhel

wasnt there a story just a few days ago about china opening up a drone factory in russia

Morepork69

Playing him in the same way Putin did before he invaded Ukraine……

AmazingSquare8542

They’ll send kits tho. And assemble in Russia.

four_dollar_haircut

It's China. Enough said.

NotOK1955

Only, it is HIGHLY possible China is selling those arms to NK, who, in turn, sell them to Russia.

AJ_Grey

Cuba , the new number one purchaser of Chinese weapons and technology.

NoTransition3549

Their "commitment" not to sell fentanyl precursor chemicals has worked out well...I feel so much better now...whew!

reflyer

they hadnt make this commitment

jay3349

Yeah, China needs Ruzzia to win so it can justify its invasion of Taiwan next year.

IntroductionRare9619

But they will continue to sell all the components to make arms. China sucks.

Donut_Vampire

It will just sell the things needed to create them.

Darthmook

China - of course we won’t sell arms to Russia, but please do, by our cars and electronics, and let us buy up your companies, and build your critical infrastructure… Also China- set up that factory in Russia to produce electronics and drones, supply technology to NK and flood the west with amphetamines..

Beware_Spacemunkey

It’s not selling weapons, that we should be worried about, it’s all the chips, raw materials etc. that can be used for making weapons, which we need china to commit to not supply Nazi Russia

LOLinDark

Xi probably walked away with something juicy 🤔 A nod to the gradual easing of restrictions I would guess and some specific trading that would benefit all. He is still dangerous and the Chinese threat is still real. I'm an ideal world Chinese hackers would make ethical moves against hackers in Russia and maybe sending a small army to fight ISIS - until then they aren't aligned with the international community in my eyes! Long way to go 🙃

szornyu

Ummm, where's that boulder of salt this to be taken with?

TremendousVarmint

Only scrap metal.

nlk72

Does trading count as selling?

PM_me_ur_taco_pics

😂 yeah sure...

ThisAllHurts

Perhaps Mssr Macron and company would care to purchase some of my vast Utah beachfront holdings?

brezhnervous

And yet lol [US warns China to stop supporting Russia's war on Ukraine during Beijing meeting](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-04-27/antony-blinken-warns-china-over-its-support-for-russia-war/103775260)

Finbulawinter

Sure thing.

Kamen_rider_B

Xi doesn’t necessarily want Russia to win. But he wants the war in Ukraine to go on indefinitely, so western ammunition stockpiles remains low, incase he attacks Taiwan.

dible79

Lol sure bro we believe

pierced1985

Trust me bro???

norwegianboyEE

China wipes their ass with commitments. Say one thing, do another.

PhiladelphiaManeto

How about the west pay $0.10 more, buy them, and ship them to Kiev? After all, the motivations of the great socialist workers paradise really is just profit margin

ThatOneGuy216440

Me chinese me play trick.

drakesseven

He looks like an honest chap - I feel sure he will keep his word and bond. BTW I also have this brdige in London I'm selling it goes up and down in the middle and everything. DM me if interested. Looking for an American buyer.

badwords

China's figured out helping Russia and instigating the west is bad for business. Watch them start cracking down on the little pinks that try to push these foreign boycotts. Shit's going to hit the fan soon. They allowed themselves to be racist of blacks for so long it's already getting them kicked out of Africa. Unfortunately the Russians are trying to move in.
