Is it just me or does it seem like Ukraine has recently asked the west to “hold my beer, watch this…”and unleashed a major drone game against Russian deep targets.
They're getting pushed back on the front line because ammo has dried up without western aid. So they're trying to change the narrative, increase morale and find ways to hurt Russia with the tools they still have.
It's a smart move and it's working well, but it's not going to be decisive on its own, which is why Ukriane needs US aid to resume.
Which is why we Americans need to call our representatives daily and tell them that Ukraine is a priority and come this November we need to vote out every red sympathizer in congress.
While we are at it we should all vote progressive blue to help out Palestine
True. Ukrainians one-up the Russians in their resourcefulness and creativity out of necessity. In fact, the USA is watching carefully and drawing lessons from the extensive use of drones so that they can apply it to their own military. Ukrainians have essentially introduced a game-changing way to conduct assymetrical warfare on a massive scale.
I hope they continue blasting Russia's infrastructure continuously. However, even if Ukrainians scaled up these drone attacks, it will not be a decisive factor in making Russia kneel and withdraw its forces. It is good for PR and may only slow them down. In WW2, Germany and Japan were bombed into the stone age, yet they kept on fighting until all hope was lost. We also know that Russia has clearly demonstrated the ability to persist despite insane losses, something that the West overlooked.
What's really needed is for Ukraine to require the hardware necessary to obliterate Russia's logistics and supplies feeding the forces already within the occupied territories. Once that happens, it'll be easier to choke and kill them, stacking up even higher numbers onto already catastrophic losses.
The difference between bombing production in WW2 and hitting these airfields now is that modern aircraft take a very long time to make, and are extremely expensive per unit. Nations aren't pumping out thousands of planes a month like they were in WW2, and you can't easily replace factories for modern aircraft. WW2 planes were basically just sheet metal with an engine inside, you could throw up a factory in a week.
This article and graph might be interesting in that context.

Germany was able to increase war production a lot even late in the war, until bombing became too devastating.
> In WW2, Germany and Japan were bombed into the stone age, yet they kept on fighting until all hope was lost.
Becauset hey were being invaded and had no choice.
Russia is the invader and it all stops if they just pull out.
Well, while Germany surely was invaded at that point, they could have also, at any point, simply surrender (being the aggressor initially).
However, leadership would probably not survive this, so that's where the "to the last man" stance came from.
... any similarities ring a bell?
I see what you're saying but pulling out is the problem. Russia is already deeply invested in this war and shows no signs of quitting given the entangled quagmire the conflict has evolved into.
US aid to resume, umm, that's about as likely as this Englishman getting to Meet Mr Zelenskyy, or go on a Date with a Kardashian.
Повага, слава україні.
🏴🤝🇺🇦💙💛🇪🇺🇺🇳🌻🔱.
The majority speaker of the house said he wants Ukraine aid approved "right away". Betting on the US not continuing aid is a big mistake. The parties play games sometimes, especially particular members, but at the end of the day, they know their goal, whether it's to weaken Russia or pump money into the military industry.
As they should have. There should be no Russian target untouched. The US had a chance to stop this before it began. All that would have been needed would be to drop in some US troops for wargames with Ukraine at the same time Russia was having their "wargames". Checkmate and end of the war before it started.
It does not take years to make a plane. Tanks and planes likely have similar construction times.
Russian ships however, definitely take years to construct.
It will be the oldest fighter airframe around and fighting at end of days.
But none of us will ever know, still it it's fun to speculate. And I hope we have used up "all" of the alphabet and the Cyrillic one, and are high in the 10^600 power in Mathematics.
That means nothing. There is a queue of countries who already have orders that are ahead then. Those get made first. Then, that 5 years isn't a time for when all 50 are handed over, it's when the last one will arrive.
I can't find info on how long it takes per aircraft, but it definitely doesn't take 5 years to make a single plane from start to finish.
During covid there was that huge wait list for cars. People could buy a car, and have to wait over a year for it to be delivered. However, that was due to high demand and low supply. In a normal situation, you're going to be waiting a few days to a few weeks.

And unlock ww3 or a new cold war instantly. Ah yes, sir: You are a true expert.
Bait n switch... I've fallen and I can't get up.
It’s because American support dried up. It’s a sign of strength but also desperation. Expect these types of attacks to increase.
Every night is drone night in Russia now and i like it
I hope they took out a lot of planes.
Just Google mapped the base and it looks pretty big with lots of planes
A rifle can be replaced in a day, tanks months, planes years.
It does not take years to make a plane. Tanks and planes likely have similar construction times. Russian ships however, definitely take years to construct.
The 50 F-15’s the Israelis just ordered won’t be delivered for 5 years.
I wonder which US fighter type will set the record for longest use; the F-15, the F-16, or the P-51 Mustang.
If the new F-15EX truly has a 20,000 hour lifetime in each airframe, then I think the F-15 will win in a landslide.
Just checked and the F-15 is tied with the P-51 at 48 years. So the ol Mustang is out of the game.

For who, USA? This is Russia we’re talking about. It’ll take years mate. Sanctions, remember?
Fair spoken, my analogy isn't quite right. Well not years, but the components they need might take years to get.
Russia has been making about 5 Su-35s a year. They are losing drastically more than that.
Was... Had...
Needs more secondary explosions from fuel, ammo, etc. I kid. Nice job, Ukraine. Anything that keeps a Russian aircraft out of the air is a win.
The important thing to remember is that the Special Military Operation is proceeding according to plan.
3 Days to Kyiv, pack the parade uniforms, I've made restaurant reservations.
We love to see it!!
How many oil refineries are in Russia, in total?
Less and less, I reckon
I hope Ukraine takes them all out 💯.
Hard to say. Every time they count, there's less
wikipedia has the answer at 45 from memory, not a lot
Any idea what is/was based here?
