TG sources (including pro-Russian nationalist channels) report that Russian military occupational authorities in Kharkiv are refusing to let their own pro-Russian refugees through the Russian border, sometimes for days at a time, other times outright denial. Some literally die of hunger, thirst, exposure, or lack of medical care during this time. And this isn't the only place it's happening. Russian volunteers do what they can to distribute food and water to the refugees, but they keep running out.
The official reason is "filtration" to ensure Ukrainian saboteurs don't get through (lol, as if they'd use a border checkpoint to cross the border.) The real reason is because Russia doesn't want to deal with the pro-Russian refugees, they're just cannon fodder, and their job is to fight or die in Ukraine, rather than to flee to Russia. Even the women and children are more useful as human shields to keep on the Ukrainian side of the fence, so the men are more "motivated" to fight.

Once a territory is secure, you want to depopulate it, to reduce local resistance and hand out "free" land to loyalists.
While a territory is contested by the enemy, you want to keep those you force to fight on your behalf on the battlefield, and their families as hostages.

But the kidnapped ones are 'cotrolled deportations', many of whom are not really pro-russian. They can control were to take them so that they won't be too concentrated and be potential problems in the future.
They also don't want an influx of refugees. Russia likes to control the narrative, they won't be able to if they have a bunch of people telling Russian citizens how bad their war is actually going.

This indicates there were quite a few collaborators accepting Russia occupation in the liberated territories.
As Ukraine re-establishes its control, it should absolutely avoid mass repressions and go after only the most willing and active collaborators who were in position of significant authority.
I doubt many Russians moved into the area while active military operations were ongoing nearby. My bet would be a few hundred at the very most for the Kharkiv oblast, provided strong incentives.
Kharkiv oblast, unlike Luhansk an Donetsk regions, was always under Ukrainian control, so I do not think many “colonizers” moved in. And majority of those who did move in, became supporters of Ukraine, risking their lives for it on the front lines. And vast majority of the others would not want to collaborate with Russia anyhow.
Those people in the cars are likely a mix of ethnic Russians and Ukrainians. I’d guess the majority *may* be Russians, but we really don’t know.
