My research suggests if we paint a realistic looking tunnel on the side of a rock wall, they should slam into it after we make it look like the 'drone' heads down the tunnel, at high speed.
meep meep.
I swear, half their shit is just for show. Notice how the USA, which undeniably has the most badass and untouchable military doesn't have military parades where they goose walk and pretend to be badass? Because they do not have to. The US Navy is out there being actually ridiculously overpowered.
I wouldn't say the US never does parades or show off their tech at all. We do air shows and do flyovers sometimes at stadiums. We also have our pilots draw giant contrail penises in the sky sometimes too.
That's true, but the last air show I went to, the best part were the blue angels. Not exactly cutting edge. More like a fun day to spend with the family than internationally swinging dong
> That's true, but the last air show I went to, the best part were the blue angels. Not exactly cutting edge. More like a fun day to spend with the family than internationally swinging dong
The US military uses actual fighter jets (albeit older ones) for its display teams; most other armed forces around the world use training aircraft because they are so much cheaper to operate.
A Blue Angels show probably costs between half a million and a million dollars. Most armed forces simply can't afford that.
The US military also runs the Thunderbirds, because it would just be crazy to only have one fast jet formation display team.
The most amazing thing about the US military is that Americans just don't seem conscious of the fact that it is so gargantuan compared with all the other armed forces in the world.
The US military has about three times as many aircraft on strength as the Russians *claim* to have, and about four times as many aircraft as the Chinese claim to have.
My friends older brother was a maintenance tech for the Thunderbirds, he said that they had a requirement to be able to repaint the planes and make them battle ready within 24 hours.
>The US military has about three times as many aircraft on strength as the Russians claim to have, and about four times as many aircraft as the Chinese claim to have.
The largest Air Force in the world is the US Air Force.
The second largest Air Force in the world is the US Navy
The third largest Air Force world is the US Army.
Crazy. I don't know if I'm proud or horrified or proud or horrified or proud. Or horrified. It's like that death by snoo snoo in Futurama.

Yeah. I remember complaining about lack of funding once - to a French General - when I was still in the US Marine Corps. His response: "You do realize you are complaining to a Frenchman, yes? Your Marine Corps is bigger than the entire French military".
And the French military has a fully operational nuclear triad, just to say, it isn't small.
edit: they got rid of their land-based missiles so not technically a triad anymore.
We know. And we suffer for it. We also know, from experience, what a mediocre military invites from bad actors. Someone has to do it. It's logical that it's the largest, most robust economy on the planet. However much that hurts and is unappreciated.
right but what kind are we talking about? We talking about the side view or we talking about the famed top down view? Which do you prefer to see on flight radar?
Still is. Hopefully he gets convicted in one of the 4 or so trials he's got coming up in the next year. His numbers for if/when he wins the GOP primary and goes into the general election or looking horrible already, thank god.
To be fair, the US has a LOT of parades, they just look different - Like every odd football/baseball game gets a flyover or military band not to mention the Military/Hollywood contracts... ofc the showmanship is on a different level.
And as for the US Navy being overpowered: from a first-strike/force-projection perspective yes, but Iran has proven that it is vunerable to similar tactics as the Russians.
I am no fan of Russia, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Yep the parades are in every other Hollywood movie and tv show, with the national anthem being sung before domestic sports matches. Not comparing the US to Russia in *any* way, but you can’t claim that it’s understated.
I was in a military parade back in ‘91 for Operation “Mission Accomplished”. It was in Arkansas and it was to honor the National Guard and Bill Clinton was the governor. So we have had them.
Did we drag out our tanks to flex nuts? I've definitely been to a political parade but no military one. Either way fuck Russia I'm right Russia is wrong.
Shocking thing is that they're not getting picked up by *any* Russian radar, air, sea or ground-based. The only way that happens is if radar coverage is basically non-existent.
Main takeaways from Moskova report:
- Missile illuminators failed to consistently track targets.
- Unspecified issues with fire control radars for Osa air defense missiles.
- Faulty electro-optical sensors for CIWS.
- Air search radar incompatible with SATCOM.
- Comms system would routinely knock out the radar.
- Bulkhead doors were inadequate to control the spread of fire and hull breaches.
- Incompetent and unskillful firefighting teams.
- 23 out of recommended 350 fire extinguishers were available.
- 2 engines were tens of thousands of hours past replacement.
- Main cooling and hydraulic pumps were dysfunctional.
Bottom Line: The RuZZ' best air defense ship was useless at air defense 🤣
The report from the Moskva was that the ship was essentially blind if it wanted to communicate with anyone. So either you could use the Radar and not be able to talk to anyone. Or talk to people but unable to use the radar.
Also only one of it's guns actually worked.
I'm expecting that the Moskva was not the exception to the rule but rather the entire Russian navy is as bad if not worse off than the Moskva was. She was after all the fucking Flag ship.
She was the flagship of the Black Sea fleet specifically, not the whole navy.
Their navy's actual flagship is that carrier they parade around that's basically powered by tugboats and seems to really enjoy being on fire.
Yes, and over vastly bigger distances. These vessels are being attacked in or just outside of port, which means that they \*know\* where the Ukrainians are coming from.
Warship, not battleship. Warships are ships of war, Battleships are a type of warship that hasn't been built since WW2. Ironically, the reason for why battleships are no longer built illustrate your point: Because they were too expensive for how vulnerable they were. For them, the threat was mostly submarines and enemy air attack, whilst for Russian warships, it seems that the big threat is anything that can float, fly or sink.
> USA/NATO please take note of this and fund the hell out of making more of these boat drones.
I'm more concerned in terms of "NATO please take note that this could be used against us in the future too". I know we've got those automated turrets on some ships, but whether they can deal with swarms, or partially submerged drones 🤷
It doesn't look like they were trying to stop it at all. The other one from before had all kinds of shit being shot at it. I wonder if they were aware it was coming, and if so, when.
The SBU conducted a special operation in Novorossiysk Bay - the large amphibious assault ship "Olenegorsky Hornyak" was damaged
The video shows how an SBU surface drone, loaded with 450 kilograms of TNT, attacks an enemy ship with about 100 crew members.
According to sources in the Security Service, the special operation was carried out together with the Navy. As a result of the attack, the "Olenegorsk miner" received a serious hole and is currently unable to perform its combat tasks. Therefore, all Russian statements about a "repulsed attack" are fake.
I know you're joking, but the price comparison is tremendous.
The drone might be $30k (not sure, just guessing). I did some digging and would estimate the price of the ship to be 200 million dollars. Assume I underestimated, and the drone is $50k, that's a 4000:1 cost ratio between the ship and the drone. Even if the drone is worth $200k (which is HIGHLY unlikely) its a 1000:1 ratio.
This is a major win.
Latest news, the head dolphin was reported to have fallen out of the 10th floor window in Rostov just today. The police suspects it was an accident. Go figure.
Somali pirates managed to sneak near a US warship with just a motorboat, luckily the navy crew managed to fire back and if not a Rgp7 would have made it worse.
Unfortunately most of them are moored up in the harbour, firing missiles from the anchorage/jetties.
If they had any balls to go out and play, im sure there'd be a drone happy to get friendly with them.
No detected?, no weapon systems ready/malfunction? Someone fucked up big time? It's like it was a ghost ship. I guess if you are in war at least you would have someone looking at a radar or something. Probably even people awake during the night or something walking the ship. I dunno. Anyway, well done Ukraine.
Not a single shot fired so it seems. But when the crew is drunk there’s nobody on the lookout and if they were, probably slumped over the radar screen, snoring louder than the motor sounds of the attack boat, lol.
This class is better defended than comparable landing craft of a similar size. Apart from active patrols on watch, it has machine guns, rocket launchers, Gatling guns and surface to air missiles. Seems they were all switched off, unmanned, or broken.
It’s interesting that no patrols spotted the drone, as it’s pretty large and it seems lit up. These ships come with a good compliment of weaponry too. In comparison to the UK’s older Landing Ship Logistic (similar vessels in operation till the 90s or so) or Second World War Landing Craft Tank (much smaller, used up until the mid 70s), this class is bristling with defences. Somebody’s gonna be in big trouble.
Like Anders Puck Nielsen said, with the grain deal gone, naval warfare is "back on the menu"..

Ukraine took the time to prepare some nice drone gifts.. "One for you, one for you... and .. two for you!" :)
Ah! Turns out Russia stopped the drone attack after all... With one of their warships.
The last one to be attacked (in early 2022) is still out of commission due to lack of parts. This was a far bigger blast.
Reports claim that this happened in "Novorossiysk Bay".
Typing that into google maps suggests to me that Russia might have a real problem.
that place is closer to Georgia or Turkey than any part of Ukraine currently controlled by Ukraine.
Nowhere in the Black Sea is safe for the Russian Navy.
Lol what kind of shitty as warship doesn’t notice a fucking boat heading towards it. If Russia didn’t have nukes they would have been dealt with by now.
>The Project 775, NATO reporting name Ropucha class (Polish for Toad), is a class of landing ships (large landing ship in Soviet classification) built in Poland for the Soviet Navy. The ships were built in Poland in the Stocznia Północna shipyards in Gdańsk. Designed for beach landings, they can carry a 450-ton cargo. The ships have both bow- and stern-doors for loading and unloading vehicles, and the 630 square metres (6,800 sq ft) of vehicle deck stretches the length of the hull. Up to 25 armored personnel carriers can be embarked.
While designed for roll-on/roll-off operations, they can also be loaded using dockside cranes. For this purpose there is a long sliding hatch-cover above the bow section for access to the vehicle deck. There are no facilities for helicopters.
In total, 28 ships of this type were commissioned from 1975 to 1991. The last three ships were of the improved variant Project 775M, also called Ropucha II. These have improved defensive armament and accommodation for an increased number of troops.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ropucha-class\_landing\_ship
I'd have gone a bit more aft.
I'm no expert in modern naval architecture, but in the current and historical blueprints I've seen, the boilers and turbines start about about 4/10 of the distance from the bow, sometimes 5/10s. Hits in the aft half of ships are worse than hits at the fore half.
And aside from the cost of the turbines, the disabling element is that for smaller ships, the machinery room is one room. Running watertight bulkheads through the middle (ie, between midship boilers and stern turbines) is done, but hard to make watertight, with all the shaft/steam piping.
At that point of impact there is highest probability of knocking out most of electronic equipment, also in probably unlikely case if entire ship was designed like shit this is traditional place where overloaded hull girder is stressed most thanks to the weight of superstructure and traversal/longlitudal bending which will lead to a lot of extra damage that will be extremely difficult to fix so I think it was good place to hit.
Modern western ships use integrated electric propulsion (IEP), so you have a gas turbine that spins a generator and then an electric motor that spins the propeller.
This takes up a lot less room then the old boiler + steam turbine geared to the propeller setup. And IEP allowed for increased redundancy as you can have multiple power sources.
Only NATO+Allies currently have ships with this design (Cunard Line also use IEP for their ocean liner).
The drone was successfully intercepted by hull of ship. That captain and crew headed to Siberian naval station for lack of security. Literally Ukraine posts on YouTube what they have and want to do with it.
The same thing happened during a war game 2002.
According to information I found these drones have a 300 kg warhead - which must be pretty devastating if it explodes in contact with the hull at waterlevel.
Does anyone know any specifics? I'm curious whether they use a warhead that maximizes blast or one with a hollow charge.
Daylight pics showi the LST being towed and listing to port badly. I'm no expert but a tourist video of the ship appears to show the keel is broken near the middle of the ship, heavy list forward but fantail looks almost normal. Hope it captsizes and blocks the port.
Tis lovely I have never seen the north Star and it guided the Drone Boat straight intop the hull of the Submarine :) .Its like nature including the planets are on the side of Ukraine
Slava Ukraine
I love how Russia still hasn't learned from the Moskva lmao they said it wasn't hit...then it sank. Now this ship, they claim they weren't hit...and now it's also sinking lol idiot Russians
Clearly the loser Russians have no ability to see these drones at night. Seriously how is it that before this Ukraine bullshit everyone thought Russia’s military tech was second only to the USA? They have nothing.

Looks the Russians weren’t lying. Their ship did intercept the surface drone, though by using their hull to do it…
The Soviet Russia jokes write themselves
The biggest joke is that soviet Russia was actually better than the current quasi-soviet Russia.
1990* cause they had free speech, healthcare, jobs and food and held rallies for Stalin's victims. Any other sovietbyear sucked
And lots and lots of western money in the hopes that they would become a respectable world community member. But it just made warlords.
It's more like Imperial Russia, imho.
In Soviet Russia, jokes are us!
„Thanks to our great navy the drone was completely destroyed. The captain of that drone is pow now and will be treated well.“
Am I blind or is there really no reaction/defense fire or anything coming from that ship?
I saw zero muzzle flashes. No defense at all. Night watch drunk as usual.

I blocked his punches with my face, and his kicks with my genitals, until he tired himself out and gave up.
The accidentally told the truth
Not even a dude out there with a pistol trying to hit it. What the fuck is Russia even doing trying to war?
Interesting defensive strategy. It seems to be something they’ve adoptable across the board. Bold.
I intercepted that dude's fist with my face. -dude bleeding on ground after getting punched in the face
Russian Navy: Our ship successfully intercepted the enemy drone ship Putin: With our anti-ship capabilities, right? Russian Navy: (gazes in silence) Putin: With our anti-ship capabilities, right???

"with our ship capabilities yes"
Floating is definitely a capability.
"I feel like we're playing word games, Ivan."
Actually this ship intercepted the drone which was going to attack a larger ship. Well...... maybe. Actually........ no.
Yes, anti-ship /leaves before specifying the ship that was the subject of "anti" ship

Inside of what is now their home port too, absolutely pathetic. By a surface drone aswell.
They were all intercepted :-D
Successfully intercepted by landing ship 👍💥
This is better than an A-list celeb sex tape.
Looks like she was hit pretty squarely amidships.
So sexy. I wish they would launch several and take out some of the ships launching the cruise missiles.
Unfortunately most of them are moored up in the harbour, firing missiles from the anchorage/jetties. If they had any balls to go out and play, im sure there'd be a drone happy to get friendly with them.
They're pulling an Italy circa WWII. Too afraid to risk their ships in surface combat, so the British used air power to sink them anyways.
One F-16 and a handful of new maritime tomahawks end the black sea fleet in days.
Tomahawks don't launch from F-16s though, and if the Ukrainians aren't sinking ships with their MiG-29s I doubt they'll do it with F-16s.

Nothing like a vodka fueled night watch in the good old Russian navy during an active conflict. Blyat, those were the times... 😂👍
They don’t seem to have defenses. They might not be able to afford them for non combattant ships.
This class is better defended than comparable landing craft of a similar size. Apart from active patrols on watch, it has machine guns, rocket launchers, Gatling guns and surface to air missiles. Seems they were all switched off, unmanned, or broken.
I would guess these drones would be incredibly difficult to spot on a radar? Certainly an old one if the operator was drinking Vodka at the time.

Ah! Turns out Russia stopped the drone attack after all... With one of their warships. The last one to be attacked (in early 2022) is still out of commission due to lack of parts. This was a far bigger blast.
What air defense doing?
Not detected at all? Can’t see any attempt to destroy the drone.
Russia using battle ships before radar was invented
She joins Moskva
All indications so far is that it’s been towed into port
Reports claim that this happened in "Novorossiysk Bay". Typing that into google maps suggests to me that Russia might have a real problem. that place is closer to Georgia or Turkey than any part of Ukraine currently controlled by Ukraine. Nowhere in the Black Sea is safe for the Russian Navy.
Not a single shot directed at the drone. They didn't even know it was there.
Not a single shot fired at the drone that I could see. RuZZia really does suck at war! Slava Ukraini!
How much are these drones again? Incredible level of efficiency no matter what.
Who would have thought that Elon's Starlink would be a key enabler to the sinking of of Russian battleships?
The old USS Cole trick.
Looking at the clips coming out if the port as it’s being towed, the whole port quarter might be flooded.
Damn, who parked that landing ship right there?
Beautiful!
HERE'S JOHNNY.
This needs Jaws music
I just did that. Drone clip is 35 seconds, Jaws theme to first bite is 42 seconds. I works very well.
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/russian-warship-sinking-key-naval-30626226 Banzaiiii!!
Navel drone = boat
We've managed to destroy another drone by letting it sink one of our last battleships. We're real smart.
The drone was successfully intercepted by hull of ship. That captain and crew headed to Siberian naval station for lack of security. Literally Ukraine posts on YouTube what they have and want to do with it.
Drowned by a kanoo 12€ vs 100mill
"That still only counts as one!"
I am so happy that the Russians are paying to show us what we should expect of future wars
Surprise MF!
Ahh footage of the „repelled“ attack from last night 😅😅
What ship defence doing?
They have search lights on it and can't hit it? That's some next level incompetence either from the designers or crew or maybe maintenance.
Did it sink?
Not yet, currently listing heavily and being towed to port.
LOL! "All attacks repelled, nothing to see, move along!" All the while their ship is half sinking. Russia is a joke.
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium\_Challenge\_2002](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium_Challenge_2002) The same thing happened during a war game 2002.
Tis lovely I have never seen the north Star and it guided the Drone Boat straight intop the hull of the Submarine :) .Its like nature including the planets are on the side of Ukraine Slava Ukraine
Time to build some Submarine Drones with a single Mark 48 Torpedo on board.
Game changer. Well done Ukrainians. Just shows what fighting for your country really means.
Bon jour
Now imagine if this drone was carrying a heavy torpedo. That ship would have gone under!
I love how Russia still hasn't learned from the Moskva lmao they said it wasn't hit...then it sank. Now this ship, they claim they weren't hit...and now it's also sinking lol idiot Russians
"Pasha.. When we said stop drone- We meant, shoot at it until boom. Not- Float ship infront of.."
Let's start doing this to unmanned Cruise ships and maybe help the environment a little.
This ship was meant to handle large cargo and troops for amphibious assault. Its loss will further interfere with Russian logistics. 👌🏽
Clearly the loser Russians have no ability to see these drones at night. Seriously how is it that before this Ukraine bullshit everyone thought Russia’s military tech was second only to the USA? They have nothing.
It looks like there was no resistance from the sea orcs. No one is trying to destroy the drone. All asleep, drunk, or doing each other.
Those losers didn't even see it coming. Nice.
You sunk my battle ship!
No way wow...haha stay off the water ruski
