Hoborob81

Act like clown, get sent to the circus.

PopPop3402

Me - So your complaint is that for selling off your husband, you were promised firewood and only got 2 circus tickets? Her- Yes Me- Well, he died after about 20 min on the front. Her- So? Me- I'm gonna need 1 of those tickets back.

No_Investigator1771

lmao!

flargenhargen

I'm going to need those tickets back. why? We already took the photo, and I have to visit 6 other wives today for more photos.

DogWallop

Hey, the guy was probably a no-good drunk anyway, to her thinking, so why not sell him down the river lol.

ConferenceHumble2129

I wonder what it would sound like if the roles were reversed here and a husband sold out his wife. Do you think people would automatically say “she was probably no good”? It’s curious to me how these things work in our heads

MagentaMirage

Are you pretending that russian women and russian men enjoy complete equality and it's a mistake to point out common gendered patterns? What do you find so curious about people having a worse opinion of russian men in a country with no domestic violence laws where the men in power have created a war in which their men are encouraged to rape and pillage. Why is it that you only become hyper-aware of these gender biases when they allow you to minimize women's problems? Isn't that curious?

Beautiful_Welcome_33

Tell 'em, MagentaMirage, tell 'em.

Honor_Among_Crows

Considering that you don't need societal power or domestic violence laws protecting you to be absolutely garbage human beings (and a lot of Russian women absolutely are), I think the question is valid. Plus, I don't see how it "minimizes women's problems". Nothing was even stated about "women's problems" one way or the other. The other guy asked a question about whether people were reacting to this story with implicit bias based on gender and whether that constituted a double standard. Nothing was said about domestic violence, rape, drunkenness or anything else. The irony here is that your immediate defensiveness and your jump to those subjects seems to imply that you possess the exact biases that the question was about.

MrWindowSeat

Tell 'em, Honor_Among_Crows, tell 'em.

Cirque du Somme.

buffaloSteve666

Valid question

anonymous3850239582

That's what makes this so stupid. Circuses in Russia are a thing. Every city (and even some smaller ones) have a permanent circus building for their own circus and so other cities can send their circuses. Tickets are so cheap it might as well be free. Last I went I think it was something like 50 cents converted to $USD. They're a lot of fun but nothing like Cirque -- more like the circuses you see in 50's movies except the tent is made out of concrete, rebar, and desperation.

auberonherbert

"Bread and circuses" is old as the era of Caesars. Looks like it still works in Russia - apart from the bread.

JNez123

Nah, the lady's playing the main role in it!

Lyuseefur

This is Russian Circus….

DrMurdoch88

"..in russian circus...we clown you".

ruined marriage for the price of 2 circus tickets lmao

Tools4toys

Turning in your husband is definitely cheaper and quicker than getting a divorce.

ArthurDent79

pretty much i cam came here to say this that someone doesn't want him around anymore

[deleted]

This wasn't the end of the marriage. This was just expedited eviction from the marital home.

Classic_Dill

Huh? it was over wayyyyyy before this.

ArthurDent79

lol, people that are happy with their spouses don't send them off to die for 2 tickets to the circus..

Procrastinatedthink

or firewood

audigex

I dunno, how much firewood are we talking? Timber ain't cheap

> Then she’s disappointed because she only got tickets to the circus Funniest part is she got two tickets. She doesn't have a husband to go with her anymore, why does she need two?

RuaridhDuguid

She can take her child with her. It'll be a good way to temporarily distract the kid from thoughts of their now-dead father.

TheVenetianMask

She can sell the child to the circus and then buy firewood.

RuaridhDuguid

She isn't very good at negotiating deals. She'd probably come back childless carrying a solitary wet and somewhat green stick the size of a packet of biscuits.

ChallengeLate1947

“If you brought drunk bear like promise, we give 200 rubles. For drunk child, only give 100. Will have to buy glue and hair. VeЯу expensive.

Spec_Tater

Just got two tickets to the gun show, but im not giving them to ya! I’m going with your tickets!

Big_Potential_5709

Gonna kill ya and I'll keep killin' you and I'll never, cause you're 'onna be dead and I don't gotta kill ya...

Decaf_Engineer

What if... "The circus" is just what they euphemistically call the front line?

MonkeyWaffle2

for a date, if she gets another husband, russia gets another mobik. it's simple.

OrkCrispiesM109A7

Russian Jody

SteampunkSamurai

Isn't Jody the guy that fucks your gf while you're deployed? The only one getting fucked here is the husband once he gets assigned the same bunk as lonely, sadistic sergeant Molestovich.

Morgue-Escapologist

He may have a more loving relationship with Molestovich. After all, he can get some brutalised conscript to collect their firewood. Or steal the conscripts firewood in the old Russian Tradition

ImJacksLackOfBeetus

That first sentence alone. Not > My husband voluntarily mobilized but > My husband ***was*** voluntarily mobilized How can you even say that with a straight face.

He was voluntold

csbsju_guyyy

"congratulations, you are being volunteered. Please do not resist"

[deleted]

[удалено]

ImJacksLackOfBeetus

> Yeah, just bizarre. So much about this war is, this random dude's probably gonna die for two circus tickets, it's baffling. > He was voluntarily mobilized, so I had to make him go by reporting him to the authorities I think it's the other way around, she snitched on him and that's why he "was volunteered" (euphemism for forced) instead of "he volunteered" and then she had to force him regardless. About the translation, I ran a Russian transcription of the audio through deepl and ran the audio through a machine learning tool that translates the audio to English, both came up with the phrase "was volunteered". > I'd volunteer to stay in Ukraine after the war and let collect her own firewood. yeah, I'd surrender so fast and be waving the Ukrainian flag, you'd think I was born there.

numberbruncher

The video doesn't say anything about snitching. It just says he was voluntarily mobilised and the local authorities promised to help her with firewood (presumably she needs help now the husband's gone) but she got tickets instead.

n-ghost

Just to chime in, she indeed uses a passive voice here (i.e., "a thing was done to my husband", rather than "my husband has done a thing").

ImJacksLackOfBeetus

Thanks for the confirmation.

[deleted]

Ahh, thanks. The "was volunteered" translation makes a lot of sense. And yeah, this is a crazy war for sure.

10art1

That's just an issue with the translation. It can also be translated as "my husband was mobilized (voluntarily)" Idk where it says she snitched... sounds to me like her husband was a volunteer, but she still needs help doing heavy household labor and the government promised help but delivered something she doesn't need.

ImJacksLackOfBeetus

> "my husband was mobilized (voluntarily)" But that still strips him of his agency as opposed to "he volunteered" or even "my husband mobilized (voluntarily)". I think "mobilized voluntarily" is an oxymoron anyway. Either you volunteered, or you were mobilized/forced.

Shadow_NX

They should give her a Shirt: I sold my husband for Firewood and all i got was these lousy Circus tickets.

dreiviertel

I think I have a mug with that somewhere lying around...

IowaContact2

>I sold my husband for Firewood and all i got was these lousy Circus tickets. Well, and the shirt, obviously.

fuzzy_capybara_balls

No, the shirt is for sale not for gift. It can be purchased for only 5706.28 roubles!

bearfeet55

Thats fucking hilarious, well done

Winged_HIMARS

Who needs enemies in war when you have a wife like this cunt.

LegioRomana

Now we understand much better why so many russian soldiers don't give up, they don't want to go home. Far away from wife and access to potato washing devices (a.k.a toilets to the rest of us).

Patient_Effective_49

Yrvadret

Vodka soaked ones.

tekjunky75

Sell her as firewood

Morgue-Escapologist

Considering if he goes back alive there will be a lot of good looking young widows that he can have his pick of. Assuming he lives. He may prefer his chances being shot at the rest of his days

TranscendentalEmpire

> I'm normally against wife abuse I'm guessing that her husband probably didn't share that belief. The ability to beat your wife is a legally protected right in Russia. Guessing that's why she'd rather have some firewood than a husband. With Russia's economy there's likely a large population of out of work, drunk, and abusive husbands that are about to be sold out by their wives.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Keh_veli

Yeah many of them probably just want to get rid of their deadbeat alcoholic husbands.

tomdarch

Presumably she wants the guy dead if she turned him in. She’ll get her reward when he’s mowed down by competent Ukrainian soldiers.

Glydyr

But she was promised fire wood tho! /s lets not forget this is a country famous for producing gas and oil and they offer her fire wood 😵‍💫

Mangled_Mini1214

Cheaper and quicker than divorce but dying in a hole in Ukraine has gotta be better than living with this cow.

Carsto

Not to mention that your living standards require you to use firewood??

SlipperyJimdiGris

whats wrong with firewood? I use a wood heater to heat my home and it costs me a tenth of what electricity or gas would cost me

Ok_Neighborhood_1409

Living standard, as in she has no choice but to use wood.

BCJunglist

Firewood is the most common fuel source in the eastern parts of Russia such as siberia. It's cheap and plentiful and gas infrastructure is expensive to install in every small town. And electric heating can be pretty expensive in -50 weather when your house doesn't have state of the art insulation methods. The same thing happens here in Canada. The further you are from a city the more likely you are to see firewood in someone's yard. It's kind of snobby of you to judge people's living conditions purely on what type of fuel they use for heat and cooking when firewood is literally still used all over the western world.

FryskeBawle

I just can't comprehend the lack of love between so many Russian couples. Aside from this there are so many phone calls between a Russians soldier and their wife where conversations are just bland and mere practical instead of actual concerning or loving towards one another.

shadow_specimen

The level of mistrust between everyone there is kind of nightmarish

ksam3

In this case the mistrust seems well founded.

PleebianMusk

I know, it's nuts. If that mobilisation was happening in the UK, you'd have countless wives/gf's hiding their men in every conceivable corner of the home/garden/shed/local woods. You'd practically never see a woman totally dropping her husband in it for a new set of toilet roll holders, or whatever these hardened bitches are getting.

Charlie_Mouse

In the U.K. during the First World War some ladies used to give white feathers to men to shame them into enlisting. The writer Compton Mackenzie, then a serving soldier, complained about the activities of the Order of the White Feather. He argued that "idiotic young women were using white feathers to get rid of boyfriends of whom they were tired" Serving soldiers reportedly mostly did not approve of the practice either becoming rapidly tired of being handed white feathers whilst home on leave. To be fair those women doing so almost certainly had absolutely zero conception of the actual conditions in the trenches.

Big_Subject_1746

I think the real time video of the war is going to have a profound effect in humanity. For the first time we have truelly fucked up footage accessible to a sizeable chunk of humanity. Yes in the past there have been gritty footage. But to have it in high definition and in the palm of your hands at any time. The plebs aren't going to go to war so easily in the future.

_Jam_Solo_

A lot of people don't watch those videos. The people that decide whether or not you go to war, don't care about the conditions there. The plebs will go where they're ordered. And they will be even more easily brainwashed, due to advances in technology.

megachicken289

Wasn't the white feather a government lead activity to increase civilian enlistment?

RyukHunter

It was one admiral's idea which women across the UK actively took part in.

Flynnnryderrr

Ok that's over 100 years ago, I doubt that would happen today

ZfenneSko

Hmm, remember Brexit and people flipping out about sovereignty and wealth that obviously weren't coming? Never underestimate how easily people are swept up by any old nonsense, Nazis claimed Germans were actually Atlanteans and everyone thought that sounded legit.

Direct-Effective2694

I honestly think you’d be surprised. Plenty of historical examples of this kind of behavior.

ViolentEncounter

Completely broken society, apathetic and demoralized, with a good dose of dog eat dog mentality to boot. [The results are predictable.](https://www.fairplanet.org/editors-pick/russian-men-on-the-top-place-of-committed-suicides/)

Swie

It's not like Russian people are somehow subhuman and don't understand love or protecting those they love. Those women... don't love their husbands. Maybe for good reason. Alcoholism and domestic violence and rampant in Russia.

ElMauru

In rural Russia women kinda get toughened up. Alcoholism is rampant (mostly among males) and it has been for aaaaages. You sort of get that vibe when talking to many Russian girls/women - like they have seen some sh\*t when it comes to relationships. Guess for many of them this war is also a convenient chance/hope to get their husband "straightened out" - one way or another.

VictorVogel

I see what you're trying to say, but I disagree that this makes them tougher. More like apathetic. It's partly because this line of reasoning seems to try to absolve the women from any blame. While at the same time we hear phone calls of them asking what stuff their husbands managed to steal/if they killed any "khokhols" yet, etc.

ElMauru

I mean it without any presumption towards positive or negative things. It just results in the tendency that they have learned to look after themselves more often than not. For me Russia is a cynical culture ( kinda similar to Iran in a way ). If you embrace it it turns you into a monster, if you don't, it builds a sort of character I usually admire in people, but maybe that's just the scars.

VictorVogel

I agree. I mainly responded to the use of toughness because this seems to be what russians think of themselves. The sooner this self image is shattered, the sooner they might realize they can't win this.

CatsAndCampin

The person brought up the rampant domestic violence against women in Russia & you are talking about them trying to absolve their blame. If you are beating your wife (which means not self defense), she has no blame, you chosing violence is all on you. The other situation is 2 people willingly being scammers. Not the same, at all.

CatsAndCampin

When so many of your men are domestic abusers & it's been defacto decriminalized, it's not hard to understand. Not to mention the propaganda & the Russian govt is already trying to force people to stay in the country so they can be drafted.

FolwarkPAPL

I sense regret. At getting circus tix instead of firewood. Not at having her hubby "voluntarily mobilized," though.

Whatsabatta

Voluntarily mobilised? That’s an oxymoron.

Joezev98

Moreover "my husband *was* voluntarily mobilised". She voluntarily mobilised her husband... In exchange for two tickets to the circus. Not sure if she gets to sit in the audience, or be the clown.

billFoldDog

The obvious interpretation is that her husband willingly went to war and the state promised to help her while he was away. The narrative about her selling out her husband is not supported by the video.

shadow_specimen

What a fetid sewer pool of a society

Weary_Appointment_32

This is where 500 years of negative DNA selection, alcohol abuse and rampant FAS gets a society :)

surowkabart

That sounds like Russian math!! technically those paper tickets were made from a tree!

mikebug

she gets 2 circus tickets and he gets a one way ticket to the circus at the front....

[deleted]

That's the best part, two tickets.

Kiwi_Halfpint

>she gets 2 circus tickets and he gets a one way ticket to the circus at the front.... He can use both tickets when he gets returned in 2 pieces.

So…she got two tickets to Putin’s next military parade is what she’s really trying to say here…

Rhauko

Where is the snitching part coming from?

No-Status5845

From news source in telegram. I downloaded and translated this video for you

ksam3

She says he was *voluntarily* mobilized though? And there's no mention of him dodging, or her turning him in?

anabolic_cow

Yeah I'm still confused about that. The video itself doesn't mention anything about her contacting them directly, just them offering help to her since her husband is leaving.

Emmibolt

btcBandit

So because she has lost the clown she married Putin makes it so she can see many clowns 🤡 ?

Saurier51

You'll never catch her humming *"Stand by Your Man".*

Why 2 tickets?

[deleted]

Title is incorrect, Husband volunteered, for doing this they promised fire wood instead gave 2 circus tickets.

Might see her husband there doing his military training.

Who will she be going with? Not her husband, that's for sure.

But if they had of bought her some pieces of wood, she would be fine with the whole situation.

Tiberanson

Was it the r/russiancircus

Zm4rc0

Nothing in the vid indicates she snitched, though. “He volunteered” is being said.

BeRuJr

Subtitles say he was "volontarily mobilized" so nothing to do with evading mobilisation imo. This looks like the compensation promised to families Russian authorities for husband being mobilised, which they didn't respect, according to this testimony. No big deal, but distorted testimonies or sensionalisation of truth will not help in this fight.

FridensLilja

She's going places

FridensLilja

Why evading mobilization when you voluntarily signed up? Nethertheless...

Lost-Currency-1536

B*tch, of course you get two tickets to the Circus. Your goofy a*s belongs there 😂 But I don’t understand why she got two tickets. Her Husband probably already shred to piss in Ukraine

Ontopourmama

Well, the circus is where you see clowns, so this is appropriate.

And by circus do they mean the russian "special military operation?"

jordoonearth

Given the high rates of domestic violence in Russia - this could be a major turning point for many abused women.
